AIP 공정 적용 TiAlSiWN 나노 복합체 코팅층의 형성 거동 및 특성 평가 (Property and formation behavior of TiAlSiWN nanocomposite coating layer by the AIP process)

  • This study formed a hard TiAlSiWN coating layer using Ti, Al, Si and W raw powders that were mechanically alloyed and refined. The TiAlSi and TiAlSiW coating targets were fabricated using a single PCAS process in a short time with the optimal sintering conditions. The coating targets were deposited on the WC substrate by forming coating layers using TiAlSiN and TiAlSiWN nitride nano-composite structures with an AIP process. The properties of the nitride nano-composite coating layers were compared according to the addition of W. The microstructure of the nitride nano-composite coating layer was analyzed, focusing on the distribution of the crystalline phases, amorphous phases ($Si_3N_4$), and growth orientation of the columnar crystal depending on the addition of W. The mechanical properties of the coating layers were exhibited a hardness of approximately $3,000kg/mm^2$ and adhesion of about 117.77N in the TiAlSiN. In particular, the TiAlSiWN showed excellent properties with a hardness of more than $4,300kg/mm^2$ and an adhesion of about 181.47N.

디젤엔진 실린더 라이너-피스톤 링 소재의 연삭 마멸 특성 (Abrasive Wear Characteristics of Materials for Diesel Engine Cylinder Liner and Piston Ring)

  • Abrasive wear between piston ring face and cylinder liner is an extremely unpredictable and hard-to-reproduce phenomenon that significantly decreases engine performance. Wear by abrasion are forms of wear caused by contact between a particle and solid material. Abrasive wear is the loss of material by the passage of hard particles over a surface. From the pin-on-disk test, particle dent test and scuffing test, abrasive wear characteristics of diesel engine cylinder liner-piston ring have been investigated. Pin-on-disk test results indicate that abrasive wear resistance is not simply related to the hardness of materials, but is influenced also by the microstructure, temperature, lubricity and micro- fracture properties. In particle dent test, dent resistance stress decreases with increasing temperature. From the scuffing test by using pin-on-disk tester, scuffing mechanisms for the soft coating and hard coating were proposed and experimentally confirmed.

비정질 기지 복합재 코팅층의 미세조직 분석 및 기계적 거동 (Analysis and Mechanical Behavior of Coating Layer in Metallic Glass Matrix Composite)

  • 비정질합금이 가지고 있는 우수한 기계적 성질과 화학적 특성을 부품소재에 표면개질을 목적으로 고속화염 용사법으로 대면적 코팅층을 형성하였고 내열성이 높은 자융성합금과 초경합금 성분들을 적절히 혼합하여 비정질기지 복합재료를 제조하여 코팅들의 미세조직 관찰과 나노인덴테이션을 이용한 미세표면의 기계적 거동을 분석하였다. 각 코팅층의 미세조직을 관찰한 결과, 단일상 비정질 코팅에는 미용융 입자와 lamellae 영역이 존재하고 자융성합금이 고용된 복합재에는 in-situ $Cr_2Ni_3$ 석출물, 자융성합금과 초경합금성분이 함께 혼합된 코팅층은 석출물과 ex-situ WC 강화입자가 공존하였다. 이들 미세표면의 기계적 거동은 제 2 상이 고용된 비정질 기지 복합재의 코팅층의 기계적 특성이 전체적으로 향상되었다.

고속화염용사코팅으로 제조된 WC-CoFe 코팅의 기계적 특성에 관한 연구 (The Mechanical Properties of WC-CoFe Coating Sprayed by HVOF)

  • HVOF thermal spray coating of 80%WC-CoFe powder is one of the most promising candidate for the replacement of the traditional hard chrome plating and hard ceramics coating because of the environmental problem of the very toxic $Cr^{6+}$ known as carcinogen by chrome plating and the brittleness of ceramics coatings. 80%WC-CoFe powder was coated by HVOF thermal spraying for the study of durability improvement of the high speed spindle such as air bearing spindle. The coating procedure was designed by the Taguchi program, including 4 parameters of hydrogen and oxygen flow rates, powder feed rate and spray distance. The surface properties of the 80%WC-CoFe powder coating were investigated roughness, hardness and porosity. The optimal condition for thermal spray has been ensured by the relationship between the spary parameters and the hardness of the coatings. The optimal coating process obtained by Taguchi program is the process of oxygen flow rate 34 FRM, hydrogen flow rate 57 FRM, powder feed rate 35 g/min and spray distance 8 inch. The coating cross-sectional structure was observed scanning electron microscope before chemical etching. Estimation of coating porosity was performed using metallugical image analysis. The Friction and wear behaviors of HVOF WC-CoFe coating prepared by OCP are investigated by reciprocating sliding wear test at $25^{\circ}C$ and $450^{\circ}C$. Friction coefficients (FC) of coating decreases as sliding surface temperature increases from $25^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$.

폴리카보네이트 판 위에 졸-겔 과정을 이용한 하드 코팅 (Hard Coatings on Polycarbonate Plate by Sol-Gel Process)

  • 자동차의 유리를 폴리카보네이트로 대체하기 위하여 폴리카보네이트 판 위에 하드 코팅을 시도하였다. 본 연구에서는 tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), methyltriethoxysilane (MTES)으로부터 졸-겔 과정을 이용하여 코팅 막을 형성하였는데 이 때 가장 우수한 물성을 갖는 배합 조건을 찾아보았다. 폴리카보네이트 판의 전처리, TEOS와 MTES의 비율, 용매의 선택, aging 시간, 산 촉매의 양, 코팅의 횟수 등을 변화시켜가면서 형성된 코팅 막의 물성을 측정하였다. 측정 결과 폴리메칠메타크릴레이트를 이용한 전처리가 접착력 향상에 매우 효과적이었으며 이러한 졸-겔 과장으로부터 연필경도 2 H 정도의 아주 매끄러운 코팅 막이 형성되었다.

투명 유-무기 하이브리드 하드코팅 필름 제조 및 SiO2 또는 ZrO2함량에 따른 필름의 물성 (Preparation of Transparent Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Hard Coating Films and Physical Properties by the Content of SiO2 or ZrO2 in Their Films)

  • Transparent organic-inorganic hybrid hard coating films were prepared by the addition of $SiO_2$ or $ZrO_2$, as an inorganic filler to improve the hardness property, filler was highly dispersed in the acrylic resin. To improve the compatibility in the acrylic resin, $SiO_2$ or $ZrO_2$ is surface-modified using various silanes with variation of the modification time and silane content. Depending on the content and kind of the modified inorganic oxide, transparent modified inorganic sols were formulated in acryl resin. Then, the sols were bar coated and cured on PET films to investigate the optical and mechanical properties. The optimized film, which has a modified $ZrO_2$ content of 4 wt% markedly improved in terms of the hardness, haze, and transparency as compared to neat acrylate resin and acrylate resin containing modified $SiO_2$ content of 8 wt%. Meanwhile, the low transparency and high haze of these films slowly appeared at $SiO_2$ content above 10 wt% and $ZrO_2$ content of 5 wt%, but the hardness values were maintained at 2H and 3H, respectively, in comparison with the HB of neat acrylate resin.

저온 분사를 이용한 Cu계 비정질 코팅층의 제조 및 특성 연구 (Fabrication and Characterization of Cu-based Amorphous Coatings by Cold Spray Process)

  • Cu based amorphous ($Cu_{54}Zr_{22}Ti_{18}Ni_6$) coating was produced by cold spraying as a new fabrication process. The microstructure and macroscopic properties of amorphous coating layer was investigated and compared with those of cold sprayed pure Cu coating. Amorphous powders were prepared by gas atomization and Al 6061 was used as the substrate plate. X-ray diffraction results showed that Cu based amorphous powder could be successfully deposited by cold spraying without any crystallization. The Cu based amorphous coating layer ($300{\sim}400{\mu}m$ thickness) contained 4.87% porosity. The hardness of Cu based amorphous coating represented $412.8H_v$, which was correspond to 68% of the hardness of injection casted bulk amorphous material. The wear resistance of Cu based amorphous coating was found to be three times higher than that of pure Cu coating. The 3-point bending test results showed that the adhesion strength of Cu based amorphous coating layer was higher than that pure Cu coating. It was also observed that hard Cu base amorphous particle could easily deform soft substrate by particle collisions and thus generated strong adhesion between coating and substrate. However, the amorphous coating layer unexpectedly represented lower corrosion resistance than pure Cu coating, which might be resulted from the higher content of porosity in the cold sprayed amorphous coating.

Development of Blue Light Cut Films Using a Roll-to-Roll Nano Micro Coating System

  • In this study a coating experiment was performed to fabricate blue light cut films, which represent a 390~430 nm cut off rate of more than 40% and a transmittance rate of more than 90%, using a roll-to-roll nano micro coating system. The study also analyzed the characteristics of the blue light cut films. Thus, the hardness, which is more than 3H, is ensured through fabricating films using a Sol-Gel process that will determine the proper hardness level. Also, the experiment shows excellent results by cutting blue light through a mixing blue light powder.

플라스틱용 자외선경화형 도료의 물성연구 (Physical Properties of UV curable coating on plastic)

  • To investigate in influence of photosensitizer used with benzophenone(BP) in the curing rate and physical properties of UV curable hard coating on plastic, we prepared UV curable clear and pigmented coatings with DEA, DMA, NPM and TEA as photosensitizer, respectively. The curing rate calculated from the decrease of the absorbance of acrylic double bond measured by FT-IR spectroscopy increased s follows; DEA>DMA>NPM>TEA. this order could be explained by the reactivity of diethylamino group of DEA and the ease of formation of activated complex between BP and photosensitizer during the curing process. In UV curable pigmented coatings, the order of curing rate increased as follows; DEA>DMA>TEA>NPM. It was found that the curing rate of the pigmented coating can be increased by light scattering of TiO$_2$. The hardness of coating film cured by photosensitization of DEA and DMA is higher than other photosensitizers due to the crosslinking reaction of DEA and DMA radical bound to polymer backbone.

희석조건과 카슈도막의 건조성 (Drying Properties of Cashew Film by Thinning Conditions)

  • This work was done to investigate problems of cashew coating in a wooden-art industry such as ritual vessels and to improve a curing property of cashew film. The main problem in the cashew coating industry was a small-scale business, insufficiency of facilities, lack of knowledge about cashew resin and painting, and lack of a technology of productivity improvement by accelerated drying time of cashew film. In present, cashew coating for ritual vessels mostly used the petroleum as a thinner. The time of set to touch of cashew film thinning with petroleum on glass plates was increased with the increasement of the thinning proportion, but retarded from 3 to 11 times compared to that of an exclusive thinner according to thinning level. The addition of 20% aceton to petroleum contributed to the high reduction rate up to about 60% at the thinning level of 100%, which was effective to accelerate the drying time of cashew film. Even though only the petroleum or the petroleum-aceton(20%) mixture was used as a thinner, it did not exhibit any distinguishable differences in crack and appearance of cashew-film coated on Frexinus rhynchophylla after 5 cycles of soak under the vacuum-drying treatment.
