Stress effects upon Korean vowels were investigated with reference to rhythm. We measured three acoustic correlates (Duration: VOT, Vowel Duration; F0; Intensity) of stress from the seven pairs of stressed vs. unstressed Korean vowels /i, ${\varepsilon}(e)$, a, o, u, i, e/. The results of the experiment revealed that stress gave only inconsistent and weak effects on duration, which supports that Korean is not a stress-timed language as far as strong stress effects on duration are still considered crucial in stress-timing. On the other hand, Korean stressed vowels were most characterized with higher F0 and next with stronger intensity. But speakers generally showed tactics to reversely use F0 and intensity in stressing an utterance rather than proportionately strengthening both of the two acoustic correlates of stress. There was found great inter-speaker variability especially in the variations of duration.

This study explores perspectives on responding to EFL students' compositions at the semantic level. In the last three decades, there has been a shift from product-oriented approach to process-oriented one to teaching writing. The shift has led to the criticism of the traditional view on teacher response. The traditional view has been under attack for its overemphasis upon form and ineffectiveness on improving student writing skill. It is also noted that research into students' reactions to the traditional teacher response has been inconclusive. The process-oriented approach, on the other hand, draws its attention to meaning and the logical development of thought as well as linguistic matters. In this context, the present study discusses what EFL teachers need to take into account in providing the semantic-level feedback on students' compositions. Firstly, teacher response to student writing is on-going; teacher feedback involves teacher intervention in the drafting process, the revision process, and the presentation of product. Secondly, in the writing conferences, the teacher provides students an opportunity to talk about writing, assistance and advice on the content/meaning of the written text, helping them expand and clarify thinking about audience(reader) and purpose.

This paper presents design and development of a simulator evaluates the performance of a hierarchical cellular system. The proposed hierarchical cellular simulator, consisting of macro, micro, and pico cells, applies the wrap-around technique to reduce simulation time. The simulator is implemented as object oriented class models by using the C++ language in a PC environment. The resulting application can evaluate the interference, SIR(Signal to Interference Ratio), and capacity of a hierarchical cellular system in various configurations. Moreover, it can be used in other applications such as power control, call admission control, hand over scheme.

Recently, the internet of things (IoT) has become increasingly attractive in many areas to realize smart worlds. JavaScript has become prevalent for IoT programming because of its familiarity with web programmers. On the other hand, JavaScript does not allow the direct control of IoT hardware due to its language limitation. This paper proposes the IoT software platform for JavaScript programming to resolve the limitation. For proof of concept, the platform based on SpiderMonkey and Raspberry Pi was implemented.

This paper develops a portfolio management game applicable to Korean Stock Market with an emphasis on teaching and training aid. It allows each participant to start out with a certain amount of money and pick his favorable stocks from a list of stocks chosen by instructor. Each participant must make a transaction at each time period and he gets a readout that states his individual performance, i.e., stock lists, cash on hand, net worth, transactions he has made and rank in accordance with his net worth. This game package consists of 10 subprograms and 7 files written with Fortran language for use on the Nova 840 computer and is divided into 3 main categories according to their functions, i.e., book-keeping function, data processing function and information searching function. This package may be used for training portfolio decison makings in the stock market and for comparing various investment methods through hypothetical investments.

Objective: This paper is to investigate the current evidence and clinical effectiveness of mountain ginseng pharmacopuncture (MGP) in cancer treatment. Methods: Along with hand searches, relevant literatures were searched from Korean medical database until November 2015 without language restriction and clinical researches were selected for this review. Results: Nine articles were searched. The MGP was generally prepared in the concentration of ten percent. Also, the MGP has been used by intravenous injection much more than acupoint injection. The clinical effects were the suppression of the cancer cell growth, the improvement the quality of life, the reduction of the side effect by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Conclusion: This analysis suggests that the MGP can be used as a single therapy or a supportive therapy with conventional therapies, which are chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

본 논문은 디자인 사고에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 모던 디자인 현상에 자리하는 디자인 사고를 고찰하고 있다. 디자인이라는 언어를 통해 일상 삶을 변화시키고자 했던 모던 디자인의 기획은 기하학적 조형과 기능에의 집착, 기계의 적극적 수용 등과 같은 구체적 현상으로 발현되었다. 그 이면에는 '효율과 편리에 대한 집착', '환원된 필요를 기능과 대응시키는 전략', '전문가 시스템을 바탕으로 한 부분의 합이 전체라는 믿음', '사적 공간과 공적 공간을 구분하는 것과 같은 이분법적 사고'들이 자리하고 있다. 수공예적인 생산양식에서 기계적 생산양식으로의 이행과 자아에 대한 인식 등이 가능했던 사회 분위기가 이러한 디자인 사고를 가능하게 하였다.

Gear design carried in former type determined a few variables like module, pressure angle, helix angle. After investigating repeatedly results obtained through stress analysis and making a determination an optimal shape, but its design process was not only complex but also difficult to get a precise profile curve from operating by hand. In this study, rotating shape of gear profile curves were generated automatically with standard spur gear, equivalent helical gear, shifted gear & pinion by using developed program which is Auto_LISP language supported in Auto-CAD. Output tooth profile by using CAE program is applied as Preprocessor for stress analysis in each contact points. This program which can be determined rapidly an optimal shape of gear will be successfully supported for Small & Medium companies designing and manufacturing gears by using Auto-CAD.

In mathematical modeling tasks, where students are exposed to model-eliciting for real and open problems, students are supposed to formulate and use a variety of mathematical skills and tools at hand to achieve feasible and meaningful solutions using appropriate problem solving strategies. In contrast to problem solving activities in conventional math classes, math modeling tasks call for varieties of mathematical ability including mathematical creativity. Mathematical creativity encompasses complex and compound traits. Many researchers suggest the exhaustive list of criterions of mathematical creativity. With regard to the research considering the possibility of enhancing creativity via math modeling instruction, a quantitative scheme to scale and calibrate the creativity was investigated and the assessment of math modeling activity was suggested for practical purposes.

The various colors are used in our whole life as much as the modern society is called "the age of colors". The colors in the hair style express the individual taste, personality and the psychological condition, and play an important role as a visual language. The western people, who has thought that the blonde hair is a symbol of beautiful woman from the ancient times, has tried to get the blonde hair continuously even though they had not the technique of hair dyeing. On the other hand, the korean people whose hair color is usually dark brown or black, enjoy a various hair color due to the development of dyeing and decoloration technique. In this study, I deal with the yellow hair style, the most prevalent color which is an important means of communication in the our times.
