  • In this paper, we derive recurrence relations for the single and product moments of progressively Type-II right censored order statistics from half logistic distribution. Next, we derive the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the location and scale parameters of the half logistic distribution. In addition, we use the setup proposed by Balakrishnan and Aggarwala (2000) to compute the approximate best linear unbiased estimates (ABLUEs) of the location and scale parameters. Finally, we point out a simulation study to compare between the efficiency of the techniques considered for the estimation.

  • This paper considers the problem of regulating the output voltage of a current doubler rectified asymmetric half-bridge (CDRAHB) DC/DC converter via fuzzy integral control. First, we model the dynamic characteristics of the CDRAHB converter with the state-space averaging method, and after introducing an additional integral state of the output regulation error, we obtain the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model for the augmented system. Second, the concept of parallel distributed compensation is applied to the design of the TS fuzzy integral controller, in which the state feedback gains are obtained by solving the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, numerical simulations of the considered design method are compared to those of the conventional method, in which a compensated error amplifier is designed for the stability of the feedback control loop.

  • The studies of the half active suspension have been performed using various suspension models. In the early days, the modeling considered the inputs to the active suspension as the linear forces. Recently, due to the development of new control theory, the forces input to the half car active suspension system has been replaced by an actual input to the hydraulic actuators. Therefore, the dynamic of the active suspension system now consists of the dynamic of half car suspension system plus the dynamic of the hydraulic actuators. This paper proposed a new modeling technique in integrating both dynamic models. The proportional integral sliding mode control technique is utilized to control the hydraulically actuated of the half car active suspension system. The performance of the half car hydraulically actuated active suspension system is simulated with a bump input. The results show that the proposed modeling technique and the proportional integral sliding mode controller are improved the ride comfort and ride handling of the half car active suspension system.

  • In this paper, we propose a $4{\times}8$ SIW(Substrate Integrated Waveguide) slot array antenna for dual-polarized phased array system. The basic part of the array is a subarray comprising an vertical-polarization and horizontal-polarization. A vertical-polarization slotted SIW single-polarization linear array. Using SIW, A vertical polarization linear array consists of 8 uniform longitudinal slots and 4-way SIW feeding network. Using HMSIW, horizontal-polarization linear array consists of 8 slots and 4-way SIW feeding network.

  • The shielding characteristics of two concrete blocks, widely used in the building industry in Mexico have been determined. These characteristics include the mass interaction coefficients, the linear attenuation coefficients and the half-value layers. The energy-dispersed X-ray fluorescence shows that the percentage mass content of each atom in the sample, and the atomic volume of the constituent elements of a material, plays an important role in its shielding capabilities. The total linear attenuation coefficients and the half-value layers were analyzed for a set of photon energies related to X-rays for diagnosis and cancer treatment with linear accelerators. Our results show that the concrete blocks have similar photon attenuation coefficients than the Portland concrete and better features than gypsum.

  • Finite element analysis is peformed about the crack propagation in half-space due to sliding contact. The analysis is based on linear elastic fracture mechanics and stress intensity factor concept. The crack location is fixed and the friction coefficient between asperity and half-space is varied to analyze the effect of surface friction on stress Intensity factor for horizontal crack. The crack propagation direction is predicted based on the maximum range of shear and tensile stress intensity factor.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to develop the results introduced in Artan (1996) and to find a general nonlocal linear elastic solution for Boussinesq problem. The general nonlocal solution given Artan (1996) is valid only when the distance to the boundary is greater than one atomic measure. The nonlocal stress field presented in this paper is valid for the whole half plane.

  • Nonlinear acoustic damping of a half-wave acoustic resonator in a combustion chamber is investigated numerically. First, in a baseline chamber without any resonators, acoustic behavior is investigated over the wide range of acoustic amplitude from 80 dB to 150 dB. Decay rate increases nonlinearly with acoustic amplitude and nonlinearity becomes appreciable at acoustic amplitude above 125 dB. Next, damping effect of a half-wave resonator is investigated. Nonlinear acoustic excitation does not affect optimum tuning condition of the resonator, which is derived from linear acoustics. A half-wave resonator is effective even for acoustic damping of high-amplitude pressure oscillation, but its function of acoustic damper is relatively weakened compared with the case of linear acoustic excitation.
