As the IP multicast function is very slowly deployed in Internet due to its scalability problem and inter-domain interoperability problem, interest in the P2P(Peer-to-Peer) streaming technologies for the realtime multimedia multicast applications such as IPTV is highly growing. This paper proposes a P2P streaming method for the QoS-sensitive multimedia multicast applications such as highly-interactive personal IPTV and video conferences. The proposed P2P streaming method allows an application to construct a reliable streaming tree in which a proper number of backup peers are placed according to its reliability requirement. The reliable streaming tree reduces the reconnection delay, occurred in the case of a normal and/or abnormal peer leave, so as to minimize the loss of streaming data. In the proposed P2P streaming method, the join delay of a peer called startup delay is also substantially reduced because the bandwidth and end-to-end delay information of every peer kept in a distributed way allows the target peer for a joining peer to be able to be quickly determined. Moreover, the proposed method's peer admission control mechanism based on the bandwidth and end-to-end delay enables the delay-bounded streaming services to be provided for its corresponding applications.
Since the 20th century, it was often announced that a painting was dead, but it is still alive. Even in the epoch of recently increasing virtuality, painting is still appealing, consistently pursed by many with a thirst. Thus, it is said that the mission of a picture is to maintain its reality without being trapped in virtuality. In the history of Western painting spanning over several hundreds of years the myriad of techniques and styles have emerged, going though a huge variety of changes: namely, its not possible any longer to find the new ways of expression in painting. Hence, painters today feel that it becomes more gradually difficult for them to execute something. In the midst of swiftly changing, diversely evolving trends of contemporary art, the painters incessantly pose a question why they go on working on painting, and seek to find its answer. Why the painters still try to say something about painting? Is that because they consider it the quintessence of fine arts or think that it is in no way possible or meaningful to comment on fine arts without relying on painting? If then, is there any avenue of escape for the painting? The question of the 'crisis of painting' is still raised, when reviewing the rapidly changing conditions of inventing artworks. That is also why the recent works failed to offer a conceptually unified, universally shared perspective of painting. Moreover, painting is left to shrink comparatively with the pervasive existence of videos and installations briskly employing digital images and technologies in their creations. Whats more problematic is the fact that there is a growing sense of crisis not only in the sphere of painting hut also in the entire realm of art. As the organizers and curators of big-scale exhibitions and art projects tend to exploit their space spectacularly, focusing primarily on their abilities to control the space, there is a pervasive notion amongst them that painting is a medium that is not properly to suit such purposes and requests. Today, the death of painting is, in fact, the death of modernist painting, which assumed a central role in the history of art for a considerable amount of time, rather than the death of painting itself. Employing a new paradigm of invention, a picture is now entering a new domain which is perhaps unknown to us. Moving beyond the stereotypical concepts of painting, physical property and flatness, pictures today reveal the introduction of time and space and the penetration of new media such as installation, photography, video and the Internet. Despite such trends, the dexterity and tactile capability of painters is still to be considered significant in the future. The renewal of painting is made in an entirely unexpected manner and place.
Background : Normal cell proliferation and viability is strongly depends on the availability of metabolic energy and the maintenance of the appropriate adenylate-nucleotide pools. Hypothetically, changes in adenylate kinase (AK) expression could therefore be associated with adaptation to altered growth characteristics or inversely altered growth characteristics of proliferating cells could drive the changes in the metabolic profile. This study investigated whether the expression of either AK1 or a Mycobacterium tuberculosis adenylate kinase mutant which has the same catalytic activity of AK1 could affect the growth rate of slow-growing BCG. Method : Recombinant BCGs, which were cloned the human muscle-type adenylate kinase synthetic gene (AK1) and adenylate kinase mutation gene (AKmtDM) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis into the Mycobacterium/E.coli expression vectors, were constructed. Recombinant BCGs and wild-type BCG were cultured in 7H9 media and the optical density at 600nm was measured at intervals of 2-3 days. Result : There wasn't the growth rate change induced by AK1 or AKmtDM expression in recombinant BCGs. Conclusion : The expression of AK1 or Mycobacterium tuberculosis adenylate kinase mutant in BCG does not affect the growth rate of BCG.
With growing population of internet and web applications, distributed environment is considered to be the standard architecture of application. A network management systems(NMS) is necessary to control and monitor the complex network resources for providing and sharing the heft quality service. We recognize the NMS as a standard infrastructure for supporting efficient networking and a separate commercial applications. We believe every resource including software, hardware and environment for the network management should be separated from special protocols, vendors and applications. Therefore, We need a standard network management system that is efficient and consistent because of the heterogeous network features. In regards to software development, software reuse through assembling and extending the reusable elements such as patterns and components assures to realize the best productivity and quality The component based development(CBD) methodology that can assemble black box though well defined interfaces makes it possible to develop easer and quicker applications and is proved as the best software development solution involved in construction, selection and assembly of components. In this thesis, we describe the architecture for the network management and identify, define and design the components through analysis and design in the network management domain and Identified components mapped to the component architecture. We also specify the component development and design and implement the component for developing the network management. Implemented components apply to the component repository system that register, retrieve and understand the components. We analyze, design and implement the entire network management system based on configuration, connection, performance and fault management through the pre-developed components.

Recently EA(Enterprise Architecture) has been receiving growing attentions again from the public sectors. It is because EA maturity result is reflected to the organization's informatization level and EA maturity ratio has been enlarged. There has been more participation from the Chief Information Officers of the public sectors. EA research in the public sectors has influenced IT environment since the research started in late '90, the legislation work done in '05, and the maturity model developed in '06. However, there are some remaining tasks to solve. EA policy is introduction oriented, its contribution to the consecutive the best UN e-Government rank is limited, and its user-friendly responding system is still lacking. Related research outcomes are rather microscopic focusing only on the models and maturity than implicating on the public policy in a macroscopic manner. In this respect, this study will provide the implication on how EA policy should be. Requirements derived from EA stakeholders and the tasks will be arranged in accordance with its domain, then the performance and tasks will be demonstrated. As guiding EA stake holders and information related officers to setup the EA policy with these results, this study is expected to support information the policy drivers.
Nowadays, in the context of growing environmental consciousness and tourism industry, 'eco-tourism' has been expanding rapidly worldwide, and it is viewed as the strategy of regional development. Ecotourism is also perceived potential as an effective tool for sustainable development. However, when poorly planned and implemented an ecotourism project, it can quickly turn economic gains into social and environmental disasters. The purpose of this study is to develop standard sets of indicators to measure sustainable ecotourism, and to evaluate ecotourism sustainability practically. This study applies the indicators sets to the ecotourism through the case studies of 10 Korean ecotourism sites. Using the indicators sets, the levels and characteristics of the sustainability of 10 eco-tour sites were measured and evaluated, which makes it possible to monitor sustainable ecotourism in the future. After setting weights among domains differently, the results of the sensitivity analysis showed that the rank changes of the eco-tourism sustainability was very small, implying that the problem of weights setting among each domain will not be critical. Base on the empirical analysis, this study suggests the application of sustainability indicator sets of eco-tourism in the normative, analytic, practical aspects.
Recently, high definition media services like HDTV and IPTV are growing. A fast reduced-size image extracting method is required to meet what those services require. Conventional DC image extracting methods, however, can't be applied to H.264/AVC streams since a spatial domain prediction scheme is adopted in H.264/AVC intra mode. To solve this problem, a thumbnail extraction method in H.264/AVC was proposed. However, the method has mismatch problem which was caused by round-off operation in intra prediction and mismatch between integer and floating point calculation. In this paper, we propose an error compensation method for extracting thumbnail directly in H.264/AVC bitstreams. The compensation method introduces the mismatch problem in thumbnail extraction and presents compensation values. Through the implementation and performance evaluation, proposed method compensated round-off error efficiently in D1 and HD sequences while the additional extraction time is negligible.
The World Wide Web is transitioning from being a mere collection of documents that contain useful information toward providing a collection of services that perform useful tasks. The emerging Web service technology has been envisioned as the next technological wave and is expected to play an important role in this recent transformation of the Web. By providing interoperable interface standards for application-to-application communication, Web services can be combined with component-based software development to promote application interaction and integration within and across enterprises. To make Web services for service-oriented computing operational, it is important that Web services repositories not only be well-structured but also provide efficient tools for an environment supporting reusable software components for both service providers and consumers. As the potential of Web services for service-oriented computing is becoming widely recognized, the demand for an integrated framework that facilitates service discovery and publishing is concomitantly growing. In our research, we propose a framework that facilitates Web service discovery and publishing by combining clustering techniques and leveraging the semantics of the XML-based service specification in WSDL files. We believe that this is one of the first attempts at applying unsupervised artificial neural network-based machine-learning techniques in the Web service domain. We have developed a Web service discovery tool based on the proposed approach using an unsupervised artificial neural network and empirically evaluated the proposed approach and tool using real Web service descriptions drawn from operational Web services repositories. We believe that both service providers and consumers in a service-oriented computing environment can benefit from our Web service discovery approach.

As the potential of Web services for service-oriented computing is being widely recognized, the demand for effective Web service discovery mechanisms is concomitantly growing. A number of public Web service repositories have been proposed, but the Web service taxonomy generation has not been satisfactorily addressed. Unfortunately, most existing Web service taxonomies are either too rudimentary to be useful or too hard to be maintained. In this paper, we propose a Web service taxonomy generation framework that combines an artificial neural network based clustering techniques with descriptive label generating and leverages the semantics of the XML-based service specification in WSDL documents. We believe that this is one of the first attempts at applying data mining techniques in the Web service discovery domain. We have developed a prototype system based on the proposed framework using an unsupervised artificial neural network and empirically evaluated the proposed approach and tool using real Web service descriptions drawn from operational Web service repositories. We report on some preliminary results demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed approach.
As the population of HDTV is growing, among many useful features of modern set top boxes (STBs) or digital video recorders (DVRs), video browsing, visual bookmark, and picture-in-picture capabilities are very frequently required. These features typically employ reduced-size versions of video frames, or thumbnail images. Most thumbnail generation approaches generate DC images directly from a compressed video stream. A discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficient for which the frequency is zero in both dimensions in a compressed block is called a DC coefficient and is simply used to construct a DC image. If a block has been encoded with field DCT, a few AC coefficients are needed to generate the DC image in addition to a DC coefficient. However, the bit length of a codeword coded with variable length coding (VLC) cannot be determined until the previous VLC codeword has been decoded, thus it is required that all codewords should be fully decoded regardless of their necessary for DC image generation. In this paper, we propose a method especially for fast DC image generation from an I-frame using multiple-symbol lookup table (mLUT). The experimental results show that the method using the mLUT improves the performance greatly by reducing LUT count by 50$\%$.
