  • Because of the burgeoning demand of the energy, the countries are finding sustainable solutions for these emerging challenges. Demand Side Management is playing a significant role in managing the demand with an aim to support the electrical grid during the peak hours. However, advancement in controls and communication technologies, the aggregators are appearing as a third party entity in implementing demand response program. In this paper, a detailed mathematical framework is discussed in which the aggregator acts as an energy service provider between the utility and the consumers, and facilitate the consumers to actively participate in demand side management by introducing the new concept of demand reduction bidding (DRB) under constrained direct load control. Paper also presented an algorithm for the proposed framework and demonstrated the efficacy of the algorithm by considering few case studies and concluded with simulation results and discussions.

  • Purpose: This study aims to determine the conceptual properties of work engagement in nursing professional groups, and to provide basic data for nursing personnel management. Methods: To identify a nurse's work engagement, data were analyzed according to Walker & Avant's concept analysis method. Results: The analysis identified four work engagement attributes in nursing professional groups, namely: vigour, dedication, absorption, and zest. Conclusion: To bolster nurses' engagement with their duties, it is necessary to provide opportunities and implement interventions such as incentive system in performance evaluation based on work engagement in nursing, appropriate education program, and positive work environment.

  • The unit of competition is not a single firm any more but group of firms. They make a supply chain and compete with other chains. In this study we investigate success factors of supply chains from the supplying firms perspective. We consider various success factors such as commitmet trust communication confilct re-solving techniques vendor selection process and incentive systems. A set of hypotheses is tested based on the data collected from the electronics and automobile part manufacturers. Samples are divided by the length of the relationship between the vendor and assembler. joint problem solving under the long-term relationship plays an important role for the success of the supply chain. The findings offer insight into how to better manage the sup-ply chains.

  • The purpose of this study is to make an in-between space considered as an abandoned thing to the central place of commercial area by utilizing it to form the each places' identities. The methodology of the design is not about one complete form but about a continuous process by negotiation. This process is proceeded by holding council between public institution and private owners of the buildings and applied the rules to various cases in similar places in the commercial area. This project has been developed in order to construct a healthy network to connect buildings nearby and programs in a block. • Meeting, Incentive travel, Convention, Exhibition (MICE) industries recently introduced new information systems, such as the exhibition guide system (EGS), to keep pace with Smart MICE and maximize the effect of exhibition performance. We investigate how persuasive EGS can affect the EGS acceptance of attendees via cognitive and affective response. We analyzed data from 442 EGS users at an exhibition. We found that information accuracy, information relevance, and source credibility were predictors of cognitive response. Source credibility had a significant effect on affective response. Furthermore, cognitive response was found to be a positive predictor of affective response and EGS acceptance. We also found affective response is a predictor of EGS acceptance. The theoretical and practical implications of the study were presented based on the results.

  • This paper examined the impacts of the welfare reform program, California Work Pays Demonstration Program(CWPDP), implemented in 1992. CWPDP was designed to move welfare recipients into the labor market by reducing the amount of AFDC grants and one-third earned income disregard. The evaluation of the policy impacts on the welfare recipients was conducted in two areas: employment and earnings. This study used a subset of a database created by the California Department of Social Services, and University of California Data Archive and Technical Assistance. The subset is composed of 3,936 AFDC-FG cases selected in LA County: 1,311 control cases and 2,625 experimental cases. The control group was kept on the AFDC rules as of September 1992, while the experimental group was subject to AFDC rule changes implemented under CWPDP. The analyses of the employment and earnings using the random effects probit model and the random effects regression model, respectively, indicated that CWPDP did not effectively encourage female heads to participate in the labor market. It also revealed that CWPDP did not significantly increase the earnings of female heads. The findings imply that the disincentive structure of the public assistance program is not the main barrier preventing female heads from getting jobs and leaving the welfare rolls. Rather, participation in the labor market and exit from welfare is mainly determined by their own demographic characteristics and the economic cycle. Based on the findings, policy implications are suggested on the National Minimum Protection Program in Korea. Those include a flexible exemption rate for the earned income of beneficiaries, affordable child care services, and guaranteed public jobs.

The interview of focus group was conducted to 105 faculty and students using 10 interview questions from July 25 to August 29, 2005. The data of focus group interview and faculty survey were analyzed by content analysis. frequency and percentile. Results : 66.7% of faculty have pointed out that it is right a direction of new curriculum but there are some problems in curriculum management. The most frequently addressed problem in the new curriculum is as follows : ability of self-directed learning(15.3%). deficiency of faculty understanding(10.5%). The faculty comments on the improvement areas of new curriculum such as curriculum revision (8.6%). efficiency of curriculum management (6.7%), reward and incentive system of education(6.7%). The focus groups pointed out the important factors of curriculum reformation such as horizontal and vertical integrity between subjects, improvement of student achievement test, enhancement of self-directed learning. responsibility and authorities of course director. • This study presents determinants of resettlement considering population, economy, residential environment, policy characteristic, proposes implications for increase of resettlement. The research method deducted determinants of resettlement by union groups using logistic regression, union members are divided to more 10 years group and under 10 years group focused on real estate ownership duration. The analysis results are summarized as follows. More 10 years group has higher age, neighborship, satisfaction about pre-sale price, inside region in redevelopment promotion project, satisfaction about increase of real estate price, the higher resettlement decision probability. Under 10 years group has higher satisfaction about increase of real estate price, satisfaction about pre-sale price, satisfaction about floor area ratio incentive, the higher resettlement decision probability. the political implications must be customized financial support considering economic situations and increase of asset value by real estate ownership duration.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of home visit healthcare using a complex program on community-dwelling frail elders' physical strength, frailty, and depression and to compare the effects among three regions. Methods: This study was conducted as a quasi-experimental study using one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 86 subjects were sampled from three regions (metropolis, small city, and rural area). The program was applied for 14 weeks. This program consisted of disease management by a visiting nurse, exercise with a visiting nurse, self exercise, telephone monitoring, health education, counseling, providing handbook, and incentive. Physical strength was measured by balance, upper-limb, and lower-limb muscle strength. Frailty was measured by the Korean Frail Scale and depression was measured by the Geriatric Depression Scale. Paired t-test and ANCOVA were used to analyze the effects. Results: Physical strength, frailty, and depression were significantly improved after applying the complex program. There were not differences among the regions. Conclusion: Home visit healthcare using a complex program was effective in improving frail elders' physical strength, frailty, and depression. There were not differences among the regions. Therefore, home visit healthcare using a complex program needs to be expanded to other regions.
