  • The deployment of mobile femtocellular networks can enhance the service quality for the users inside the vehicles. The deployment of mobile femtocells generates a lot of handover calls. Also, numbers of group handover scenarios are found in mobile femtocellular network deployment. The ability to seamlessly switch between the femtocells and the macrocell networks is a key concern for femtocell network deployment. However, until now there is no effective and complete handover scheme for the mobile femtocell network deployment. Also handover between the backhaul networks is a major concern for the mobile femtocellular network deployment. In this paper, we propose handover control between the access networks for the individual handover cases. Call flows for the handover between the backhaul networks of the macrocell-to-macrocell case are proposed in this paper. We also propose the link switching for the FSO based backhaul networks. The proposed resource allocation scheme ensures the negligible handover call dropping probability as well as higher bandwidth utilization.

  • Resource reservation scheme is effective for better QoS guarantee to handover call for the next generation cellular systems where handover rate highly increases. However, resource reservation for handover call can incur negative impact on the new user admission. In this paper, we propose a random access based adaptive group-wise reservation to effectively reduce dropping rate of handover call, while protecting new local call. In the proposed scheme, target base station divides adaptively future handover users into groups based on the expected handover time, and then does group-wise reservation, where service allocation within each group is done on random access basis. Markov approach is also provided to analyze the performance of the proposed scheme. By computer simulation, it is shown that theoretical analysis on the performance is similar to the simulation results and the proposed reservation scheme outperforms the conventional scheme with respect to dropping probability of handover call.

  • Since the use of wireless communication instruments was standardized, users expect to be provided with seamless information whenever and wherever they use the instruments. Also, some technology is required to satisfy the users' needs which will cover their mobility. To support the mobility of host, the Internet Engineering Task Force (lETF) Mobile IP Working Group proposed a protocol called MIPv6 (Mobile IPv6). But in the case of the existing MIPv6, sometimes Mobile Node cannot receive data packet if Handover occurs although it is a temporal phenomenon. For solving these Handover problems, there are many methods like FMIPv6 (Fast Handover for Mobile IPv6) and HMIPv6 (Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) have been suggested. This paper suggested the use of Dual Buffer of Access Point and an effective way of registration as a way of reducing delayed time caused by Handover. Also, it analyzed and compare the existing MIPv6 with a proposed scheme concerning delayed time of Handover. Finally, the main objective of this paper is to proposed scheme that can reduce the delayed time of Handover compare to the existing MIPv6.

  • EPON is proposed to be used in an infrastructure of the next generation wireless network. EPON can reduce fiber deployment cost and easily decrease the occurrence of layer-3 handover by introducing group cell concept. An EPON-based layer-2 handover algorithm is suggested for fast handover. The time-delay of the control signals are examined using simulation.

  • This paper proposes an efficient multicast scheme for the hierarchical mobile IPv6(HMIPv6). If a mobility anchor point(MAP) in a new domain does not support multicasting, an entering group member cannot join the multicast group through the new MAP The group member thus keeps receiving multicast packets from its home agent(HA) using Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6). This increases the propagation delay of binding update (BU) messages. However, our scheme enables an entering group member to keep receiving packets from the old multicast MAP. It can also reduce tunneling costs, total delivery costs and handover latency. We simulated the performance of our scheme by comparing it with the seamless multicast handover in a hierarchical mobile Pv6 (M-HMIPv6) using the delivery cost and handover latency factors.

  • In LTE (Long Term Evolution)/LTE-A (Long Term Evolution-Advanced) networks, hierarchical macro/femto-cell structure is adopted to enhance system capacity. Such a femto-cell is deployed as a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) eNB. However, the inbound handover to CSG cell experiences longer delay than normal handover because it spends more time detecting the associated CSG cells due to its sparse deployment. Most of all the legacy UEs (User Equipments) have been implemented without considering the inbound CSG handover. Accordingly, they may not meet the performance requirements on the cell discovery described in the LTE/LTE-A standards. Therefore, in this paper, the performance of the CSG femto-cell detection is evaluated using computer simulation. The evaluation results will provide a basis to tackle the latency problem of inbound CSG handover.

  • This letter presents an approximation of the outage probability of the pilot channel that can be used for CDMA cell planning. The approximation can determine system parameters for soft handover in IS-95-based cellular CDMA downlink design. Computer simulations show that our analytical results agree with empirical results.

  • IEFT proposed MIPv6 for supporting IP movement. Mobile Node is involved signaling that cause handover latency in MIPv6. Recently, Proxy Mobile IPv6 is proposed by IETF for network-based mobility management to reduce overhead in mobile node still suffers from packet loss. PMIPv6 can decrease handover latency which related overhead in MN by using network agent. Therefore, MIPSHOP Working Group proposed fast handover for PMIPv6, fu this paper, we proposed packet bicasting scheme on dual interface mobile node that can support fast handover using PMIPv6 schemes. Further, a numerical analysis is provided to show the benefits of our scheme. In the analysis, various parameters are used to compare our scheme with another procedure.

  • In order to provide the Mobile Stations operating in IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN network with seamless handover, a comprehensive study on the functions of handover considering various networking environments and characteristics of Mobile Stations is required. Note that the channel scan process finding a new AP takes the major portion of handover time, and this is the most significant issue with seamless handover for real-time multimedia service in WLAN environment. In this paper the functions required to provide seamless handover in IEEE 802.11 WLAN network are identified, and a new scanning technique is proposed with which the Mobile Stations can selectively scan the channels to reduce the channel scan time in various network environments. Here each Mobile Station awares of the channels the neighbor APs are using by scanning them in advance according to the proposed technique. Afterwards, when handover is actually required, the optimal AP is decided quickly by scanning only the predetemined group of channels and order of scan without unnecessary scan of all the channels. In addition, proposes to enter the Scan Trigger Value and Handover Threshold Value in mobile phones in order to prevent the phenomenon can not handover.

  • When a mobile station(MS) performs a handover, in the IEEE 802.11 WLAN, MS's channel scanning for discovering new available APs is the dominating factor in handover latency, accounting 90% of overall latency. In order to reduce such a scanning latency, we focus on the method for reducing the number of channels for the MS in handover process to scan. With the help of IEEE 802.21 information server(IS), a proper order of groups of channels to be scanned is offered by the current AP depending on the information of neighbor APs in terms of the distance from serving AP, traffic load and network topology. By using this scanning order, the passive scanning of a MS in normal operation enables the MS to filter out the unavailable channels, and thus to classify the candidate channels of neighbor APs into three groups. Then, a handover-imminent MS can perform the active scanning from the most reliable group of channels. Simulation results show that the proposed scanning scheme reduce the scanning latency in comparison with the conventional scheme.
