Development of a Fruit Harvesting Robot(I) -Development of a Manipulator and its Control System- (과실수확(果實收穫) 로보트에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(I) -머니퓰레이터와 제어시스템 개발-)

  • This study was carried out to develop an agricultural robot for fruit harvesting. As the first step an experimental manipulator and its control system were constructed. The articulated manipulator driven by DC motors has 3 degrees-of-freedom. The manipulator has a gripper adequate for fruit harvesting and an upper arm which forms a kind of guiding channel so thai harvested fruit can pass through. Point-to-point control of joints are accomplished by a digital control system with a PID controller which consists of optical shaft encoders, power amplifiers using PWM, a microcomputer and a software. The microcomputer also computes the positions of manipulator and sequence of motions. The motion of the manipulator was to slow and rough that it would need further improvement.

  • 과잉온도 차온(Overtemperature $\Delta$T) 및 과잉출력 차온(Overpower $\Delta$T)트립에 쓰이는 온도 측정계통 총 지연시간은 6초로 구성되며 RTD 우회배관 제거시 4.5초의 RTD 응답시간(일차지연 상수로 가정)과 1.5초의 순수지연시간(전자회로 지연시간 + 그립퍼 풀림시간등)으로 구성된다. 그러나 RTD우회배관 제거전 사고분석을 일차지연상수를 3.5초, 순수지연을 2.5초로 모델링하였으므로 Simulink를 통한 영향분석과 Rack 응답시험 계단파 입력신호의 타당성을 평가하였다. RTD 응답시간은 전형적인 1차 지연요소로 나타내며 계전기나 제어봉 Gripper Release 시간 등은 순수 지연으로 가정하고 분석을 수행하고 기타 지연/지상 필터를 발전소와 동일하게 모델링하여 분석하므로써 발전소에서 일어나는 과도현상을 묘사할 수 있다는 점을 고려할 때 RTD우회배관 제거후 응답시간 지연상수가 바뀌더라도 안전하다는 결론에 도달했다.

Optimum static balancing of a robot manipulator using TLBO algorithm

  • This paper presents the performance of Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm for optimum static balancing of a robot manipulator. Static balancing of robot manipulator is an important aspect of the overall robot performance and the most demanding process in any robot system to match the need for the production requirements. The average force on the gripper in the working area is considered as an objective function. Length of the links, angle between them and stiffness of springs are considered as the design variables. Three robot manipulator configurations are optimized. The results show the better or competitive performance of the TLBO algorithm over the other optimization algorithms considered by the previous researchers.

  • Operators suffer much difficulty in manipulating micro/nano-sized objects without the assistance of human interfaces, due to the scaling effects in micro/nano world. This paper presents a micro manipulation system based on the teleoperation techniques which enables the operators to manipulate the objects with ease by transferring both human motion and manipulation skill to a micromanipulator. An experimental setup consisting of a micromanipulator operated under stereo-microscope with the help of intelligent user interface provides a tool that can be used to visualize and manipulate micro-sized 3D objects in a controlled manner. The key features of a micro manipulation system and control strategies using teleoperation techniques for handling micro objects are presented. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of this system in precisely controlling trapping and manipulation of micro objects based on teleoperation techniques.

  • In this paper, we performed the improvement study for the dynamic characteristics enhancement of the motor stator coil vertical winding machine. The dynamic characteristics improvement was done by means of the optimized design and the weight reduction of the flyer configuration, modified design of the servo control system for the flyer and the former actuation, and the development of jump timing digital circuit for the reduction of former jumping error. As the results, the maximum winding speed pattern of the developed machine was attained up to 3000rpm and also reduced the jumping error. In conclusion, domestic design technology for manufacturing the motor coil vertical winding machine was established through this study.

Development of Electric Hoist Device for Rack in Tobacco Bulk curing Barn (담배 벌크건조기의 래크용 전동발달기 장치 개발)

  • In order to save hanging labor hours and reduce work intensity for bulk curing of the flue-cured tobacco, and electric hoist was developed. It consists of a pair of square steel frames with side plates and rolling casters to move back and forth on the second tire of bulk barn, and wire rope type lift was attached to the beneath of its top center. The lift driven by DC motor could be controlled by operating switch with one limit switch and control box, and a scissors shaped gripper was deviced to grip tobacco rack to the end of wire rope. As the results of experiments with electric hoist, labor hours for hanging could be saved by 30 to 40% as compared with those in conventional method. With simple and light structure, it was possible for even woman to load the harvested tobacco, and it could be recommended for farmers to use this device with reasonable price.

  • This paper presents the development of estimation model and control method based on the new robot vision. This proposed control method is accomplished using the sequential estimation scheme that permits placement of the rigid body in each of the two-dimensional image planes of monitoring cameras. Estimation model with six parameters is developed based on the model that generalizes known 4-axis scara robot kinematics to accommodate unknown relative camera position and orientation, etc. Based on the estimated parameters, depending on each camera the joint angle of robot is estimated by the iteration method. The method is experimentally tested in two ways, the estimation model test and a three-dimensional rigid body placement task. Three results show that control scheme used is precise and robust. This feature can open the door to a range of application of multi-axis robot such as assembly and welding.

  • The application of an excavator can be expanded to various works through change of end-effector. In this paper, a gripper, which can pick up and rotate a fixed formal stone, was developed. The device was designed and produced to pick up and rotate a stone for an excavator. The maximum weight of stone was computed to prevent from reversal in according to each displacement of attachments. The necessary force of a hydraulic cylinder to grip a stone was obtained by simulation.

  • In this paper, we studied the error compensation using an error budget method for repeatability improvement of the precision positioning system. The precision positioning system is developed for micro-pressing machine. We performed the force and displacement analysis about parts of the system. Proposed system determines the position and orientation of the materials manufactured by micro-pressing machine. It is consisted of x-y-z linear stages setting the position, and the gripper system setting the orientation. We executed kinematic and dynamic modeling of the whole precision positioning system.   • In this paper, a robot automation technology for chemical tank lorry unloading is presented. Handling chemical coupler between tank lorry and ACQC system may be hazardous or toxic to human operators, therefore robot automation is essential. Due to tight tolerance between couplers, even small pose error may result in very large internal force. In order to resolve the problem, compliance between male and female couplers should be introduced with 6-axis compliance device with F/T sensing. The proposed robot automation system consists of a collaborative robot, 6-ax is compliance device with F/T sensing, linear gripper, and robot vision. The position/force control algorithm and experimental results for assembling chemical couplers are presented.
