  • The dyadic Green`s function for an unbounded anisotropic medium is treated analytically in the Fourier domain. The Green`s function, which is expressed as a triple Fourier integral, can be next reduced to a double integral by performing the integral, by performing the integration over the longitudinal Fourier variable or the transverse Fourier variable. The singular behavior of Green`s is discussed for the general anisotropic case.

  • The paper deals with the impact of information and communications technology on carbon emissions and economic growth in South Korea. The quarterly time series data from the first quarter of 1970 to the third quarter of 2010 (163 observations) are collected and retrieved from the Bank of Korea database. The paper examines long-run equilibrium relationships using cointegration techniques and Granger causality with vector error correction models. In directional causality tests, information and communications technology shows highly significant positive effects on economic growth and marginal effect on carbon emissions. Carbon emissions and economic growth exhibit an inverse relationship with each other; that is, carbon emissions have an inverse relation to economic growth and economic growth does not significantly affect carbon emissions in South Korea. We also note possible implications regarding growth policies and the information communications technology and "green" technology sectors for economies in the range represented by Korea's 1970 - 2010 data.

  • In this paper, we propose a two-stage base station (BS) sleeping scheme to save energy consumption in cellular networks. The BS sleeping mode is divided into a light sleeping stage and a deep sleeping stage according to whether there is a user in the BS's coverage. In the light sleeping stage, a BS will retain its coverage and frequently switch between the on state and the doze state according to the service characteristics. While in the deep sleeping stage analysis, the BS will shut down its coverage, and neighbor BSs will patch the coverage hole. Several closed-form formulas are derived to demonstrate the power consumption in each sleeping stage and the stage switching conditions are discussed to minimize the average power consumption. The average traffic delay caused by BS sleeping and the average deep sleeping rate under a given traffic load have also been studied. In addition, it is shown that BS sleeping is not always possible because of the limited quality of service (QoS) requirements. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the average BS power consumption, at the cost of some extra traffic delay. In summary, our proposed framework provides an essential understanding of the design of future green networks that aim to take full advantage of different stages of BS sleeping to obtain the best energy efficiency.

  • In this paper, we present new methods for rapid high-resolution range sensing using green-blue stripe pattern. We use green and blue for designing high-frequency stripe projection pattern. For accurate and reliable range recovery, we identify the stripe patterns by our color-stripe segmentation and unwrapping method. The experimental result for a naked human face shows the effectiveness of our method.

  • Environmental issues and the need to reduce energy consumption for lowering operating costs have pushed power efficiency to become one of the major issues of current research in the field of wireless networks. This paper addresses a number of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding and scheduling techniques across the PHY and MAC layers that can operate under a reduced link budget and collectively improve the transmit power efficiency of a base station, while maintaining the same levels of service. Different MIMO transmission and precoding schemes proposed for LTE, achieving varying degrees of multiuser diversity in both the time, frequency as well as the space domain, are examined. Several fairness-aware resource allocation algorithms are applied to the considered MIMO schemes and a detailed analysis of the tradeoffs between power efficiency and quality of service is presented. This paper explicitly examines the performance of a system serving real-time, VoIP traffic under different traffic loading conditions and transmit power levels. It is demonstrated that by use of efficient scheduling and resource allocation techniques significant savings in terms of consumed energy can be achieved, without compromising QoS.

  • Calculations of some integrals on the n-dimensional vector space over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ are useful in getting some other formulations of quantum mechanics and the field theory of p-adic mathematical physics. For reasons of these, we estimate several integrals. As an application, we derive some properties for the p-adic Green functions.

Design/methodology/approach - Green innovation patents and ESG performance data of Chinese listed firms were empirically analyzed using panel data fix-effect linear estimations. Findings - The study found that green innovation performance enhanced Chinese firms' ESG performance. Also, the results showed that corporate social responsibility decoupling weakened this relationship and state ownership positively moderated this relationship, whereas corporate philanthropic giving did not have significant impact. Research implications or Originality - The findings indicated that green innovation was beneficial to enhancing corporate sustainability performance. In addition, the study highlighted the role of CSR communications and state ownership in interacting the positive effect that green innovation performance brings to corporate ESG performance.
