  • This study suggests a new concept for the improvement of productivity and innovativeness of governmental research institutes(GRIs) : GRIs can also accomodate a special graduate course. Through the combination of educational function and research activities, the explict and tacit knowledge made by GRIs could be efficiently diffused to other sectors of national innovation system, especially industries. This study suggests three different models of graduate courses : independent course in each GRI, joint course by several GRIs, and joint course linking GRIs and university.

  • This study aimed to compare the efficiency of propylene glycol (PG) and distilled water (DW) as vehicles that would allow diffusion of dye through the root canal system. Human maxillary central incisors were chosen and de-crowned. After enlarging the upper part of the root canal with a Peeso reamer, cementum covering the upper third of the root was removed. The roots were ultrasonically irrigated with 5% NaOCI to remove smear layer.(omitted)

  • 컴퓨터용어에 대한 약어들을 기존 사건관리 방법에서 벗어나 컴퓨터에 수록하여, 음성을 포함한 한글 및 영문풀이 조회, 추가등록, 삭제, 수정을 가능케 하여 어휘변화 및 의미파악에 신속히 대처하고, 영문, 한글 단어를 이용한 약어검색 기능과 시스템에서 임의로 문제를 출제, 학습자 수준을 측정해볼 수 있는 컴퓨터 보조학습(CAI)과 knowledge base 교체시 타분야에서 활용이 가능하도록 DB화한 약어 전문가체제로, 업무 활용자(학습자)와 컴퓨터 상호작용에 의한 개인차를 극복할 수 있도록 컴퓨터용어 약어 전자사전을 설계하였다.

The Operation of Home Economics Education Course in Graduate School of Education and the Graduate Students' Perception (서울소재 교육대학원 가정교육전공 교육과정에 대한 운영실태와 교육대학원생의 인식)

  • This study aimed to examine the operation of the Home Economics education courses in the graduate schools of education, and to find out how graduate students perceive them. Data were collected with the use of handbooks issued by 11 graduate schools of education located in Seoul, and through telephone conversations with the administrative staff. To determine how graduate students majoring in Home Economics perceive their Home Economics courses, a survey was conducted among the graduate students in 10 graduate schools of education, and a total of 131 accomplished questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, all 11 graduate schools aimed to retrain their teachers, enhance their professionalism, and produce home economics education experts. The Home Economics Education courses come in two strands; a teacher's course and a major course. Most of the schools require a total of 30 credits. All Schools lack professors. Only 3 graduate schools have a home Economics Department in the College of Education. All graduate schools are offering a teacher's course based on a teacher's certification system. In a major course, Home Economics education has the largest number of subjects, with Clothing and Textiles and Food and Nutrition being given greater emphasis, and Consumer Economics, Home Economics Management, Child Care, and Family and Housing Studies being given less emphasis. Second, they mostly regard the graduate school of education as producer of experts, followed by producers of teachers and teacher re-trainers. Those who were majoring in Home Economics Education in college, and the teachers, are more interested in teacher re-training, while the non-teachers and those who were not majoring in Home Economics Education are more interested in producing teachers. They are less satisfied with the operation of the graduate school of education. But they are generally satisfied with the Home Economics Education course. Graduate students registered the lowest satisfaction with a major course, especially experimental subjects. For a teacher's course, the graduate students who are not teachers exhibited higher satisfaction, whereas the teachers showed lower satisfaction. But teachers registered more satisfaction with the practical use of major subjects in the educational field, thinking that their major was a big help in their work at a school. As for what has to be improved with regard to the Home Economics Education course, many cited the necessity of securing a good faculty and expanding the major subjects.

Course Development of Qualitative Research Methodology for Family and Child Studies (가족 및 아동연구를 위한 질적방법론 교과목 개발 및 운영)

  • Family and child educators have an obligation to ensure that their students understand, conceptually and pragmatically, the major research methods. The purpose of this study was to develop a qualitative methodology course for graduate students majoring in family and child studies. Three stages of course development were followed; investigating how methodology courses are offered in family and child studies, discussing what topics and components should be covered in a qualitative methodology course, and planning how the topics and components should be taught. The proposed qualitative methodology course includes; understanding philosophical and theoretical frameworks, teaming the general process of a qualitative research, comparing different qualitative traditions of inquiry, discussing emerging issues related to qualitative research, and conducting experimental field work. This study can provide an academic syllabus for family and child educators, who are interested in teaching a qualitative methodology course for graduate students.

A Study on the perceptions of teachers and students on the implementation of the intensive course completion system in mathematics courses (수학교과에서 집중이수제 시행에 관한 교사와 학생들의 인식 조사)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the perceptions of teachers and students on the implementation of the intensive course completion system in mathematics courses and to provide suggestions for the improvement of the system. Five high school mathematics teachers and 338 10th graders and 87 11th graders in 2 high schools located in Gyeonggi-do participated in this study. The results of this study indicated that the intensive course completion system is more appropriate to the subjects which require less time allotment or practical exercise than mathematics courses. For better implementation of the intensive course completion system in mathematics courses, first of all, enough time allotment for teaching and learning mathematics should be guaranteed. Otherwise, the system can make students feel more burden of learning due to increase in learning volume of mathematics courses.

Educational Program for Radiation Emergency Medicine at the Hirosaki University Graduate School of Health Sciences: A Training Course for Medical Personnel

  • Background: Although nuclear disaster is considered rare, its effects are serious, and we must prepare a system to enable an effective response. Materials and Methods: Since 2010, we have been offering a two-day seminar to provide current nurses and radiological technologists with basic knowledge and train them in radiation emergency medicine (REM) techniques. This training offers lectures to deepen each specialty from the perspective of REM, as well as exercises on ways to handle irradiated and/or contaminated patients. Participants were expected to treat patients according to the concept of REM. Results and Discussion: All participants learn to assess and decontaminate contaminated wounds through drills. The questionnaire survey for participants indicated that participants were satisfied with this training and wanted to attend again. Conclusion: We believe that this training course will provide a valuable opportunity for medical professionals to gain knowledge and expertise in REM.

An Instructional Planning and Reading Material Development for the "Foundation of Science Education" Course ("과학교육론" 과목의 교수모형과 교재개발연구)

  • There haw been some courses related to science education for the graduate students, but almost the study for no instructional model and reading material development haw been pursunded in Korea. This study intended to discuss the discipline character of science education research for the systematic survey of concepts, principles and theories related to science education as the first put task, and designed an instructional model of the introductory survey course of science education at graduate level, and then proposed a developmental plan of a reading material for the course teaching aid. The main work of the study was to survey the foreign literature, but the subjective analysis of researcher's courses work during graduate study in abroard and some courses offered to undergraduate and graduate students in Korea by this researcher was quite helpful, even though which was not a strictly designed experimental research. Later it was found that this kind of study was not fitted to the traditional research style but worth while to try for the research in and teaching of "science education" as an area of discipline and professional activity.
