The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of emotional intelligence (EI) and goal-relevance in the relationship between power and emotional awareness. In Study 1, participants were ask to correctly indicate presented facial expressions of others after completing EI survey. Half of the participants were randomly assigned to the "power" condition and the other half to the "powerless" condition. In Study 2, goal-relevance of expressed emotion was manipulated. The results showed that EI moderated the relationship between power and emotion decoding ability. While participants with high and low levels of EI were not significantly affected by power condition, participants with middle level of EI were strongly influenced by the effect of power. In addition, the role of goal-relevance significantly moderated the relationship between power and emotional awareness. When correctly indicating other's emotion became important and thus emotional awareness was strongly associated with participants' goal, those who had power performed better than before.
Recently, consumer researchers have suggested that consumers evaluate brand by subjective memory-based-emotion which was formed by their experience. However, relatively little consumer research has been done to explore conditions under which memory-based-emotion is used in brand evaluation. Therefore, this study explored the conditions to facilitate usage of memory-based- emotion such as accessibility, representativeness, relevance of consumption goal, when consumers evaluate brand. In addition, we investigated the factors that influence responses of memory-based- emotion, such as similarity of encoding and retrieving condition and level of organization. The results of this study suggest that level of organization was positively related to accessibility and representativeness. But similarity of encoding and retrieving condition was not related to them. And accessibility, representativeness influence on use of memory-based-emotion in consumer brand evaluation. But relevance of consumption goal did not influence on use of memory-based-emotion in consumer brand evaluation.
Purpose - The goal of this study is to grasp the current status of the latest overseas direct purchase trends and diversified consumption tendencies, and it can be used as basic quantitative data for selecting the overseas direct purchase market and establishing policies in the e-commerce industry. This study examines the relevance between purchasing equipment and four demographics. Traits of the underlying purchasing equipment are cell phones, tablet PCs and PCs & notebooks. Research design, data, and methodology -This survey was performed in 2021 on a total of 4,537 combined panel households covering 3,510 households and 191,027 additionally set in 2019 and approximately 10,800 household members. In particular, correspondence analysis is utilized to mine the relevance among the underlying variables. Result - It is proved that the underlying demographics except age are relevant to the purchasing equipment of online overseas shopping. Especially, cell phones are closely relevant '2 million-3 million won', jointly relevant to 'service and office work' and marginally to all other academic levels except graduate school or higher. Conclusion - Under intense competition, overseas direct purchase shopping malls should strive to provide not only price competitiveness but better service and customer value in order to continue to grow.

This research aimed at studying the role of self-enhancing imagery and self goal-achievement emotion in the effect of characteristics perceived at advertisements using multisensory cues on purchase intention. Sports shoes advertisement was selected as an empirical research object. Questionnaire survey method was used to collect data. 'WenJuanXing' site was used to make the questionnaire in Chinese, and it was loaded on WeChat and QQ. 260 participants from different regions of China participated in online questionnaire survey. The results of testing the hypotheses by structural equation model in Amos 21.0 program are summarized as followings. The congruency between multisensory cues and self-discrepancy awareness positively evoked the self-enhancing imagery and the self goal-achievement emotion. The object relevance between the consumer and the product advertised did not induce the emotion, but evoked the self-enhancing imagery. Both of the self-enhancing imagery and the self goal-achievement emotion had positive effects on the product purchase intention. When developing advertisement, marketers should focus on multisensory cues' characteristics to enhance the self-enhancing imageries as well as to help feel the goal-achievement emotion. They should pay attention to the ways by which the multisensory cues' characteristics used to develop advertisement can be perceived to be congruent with each other by consumers.
This paper provided a brief summary of the current strategic goals, activities, and impacts of the NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) occupational injury research program. Three primary drivers (injury database, stakeholder input, and staff capacity) were used to define NIOSH research focuses to maximize relevance and impact of the NIOSH injury-prevention-research program. Injury data, strategic goals, program activities, and research impacts were presented with a focus on prevention of four leading causes of workplace injury and death in the US: motor vehicle incidents, falls, workplace violence, and machine and industrial vehicle incidents. This paper showcased selected priority goals, activities, and impacts of the NIOSH injury prevention program. The NIOSH contribution to the overall decrease in fatalities and injuries is reinforced by decreases in specific goal areas. There were also many intermediate outcomes that are on a direct path to preventing injuries, such as new safety regulations and standards, safer technology and products, and improved worker safety training. The outcomes serve as an excellent foundation to stimulate further research and worldwide partnership to address global workplace injury problems.
The purpose of this study was to investigate learners' reaction behaviors by the type of learning motive when teaching messages were delivered. The subjects of this study were 82 students from Auniversity and Buniversity in the metropolitan area. Students were online collaborative learning. The instructor delivered six messages. Since then, the researchers have measured the learner 's response time and the frequency and level of interaction. And analyzed using an independent sample t-test. As a result, the frequency and level of interaction increased before the message was delivered. The response time to instructional messages was the fastest among the students with performance avoidance goal orientation. Mastery goal orientation students were most sensitive to scaffolding messages. Performance avoidance goal orientation students responded most sensitively to the reminder message. Finally, Mastery goal orientation students had the most action on new topics. And performance approach goal orientation students had the most to do with accuracy and relevance.
This study was performed to examine how intrinsic acceptance for happenstance(IAH) affects evaluation of the means to achieve additional goals when the additional goals are happened to be added to the original means-goal link. Specifically, participants were asked to evaluate the effectiveness of means(e.g., exercise and saving) to achieve additional goals which are either more or less relevant to the means. The result showed that participants with high IAH were more likely to think that the original means is effective to accomplish additional goals than those with low IAH. This pattern, however, was found only when the additional goals are relevant to the means. When the relevance of the additional goals to the means was low, there was no difference in evaluation of the effectiveness of the means to achieve additional goals between participants with high and low IAH. Future research and implications of this study for goal-systems theory and intrinsic acceptance for happenstance were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to examine the Earth science content relevance of the 7th national science curriculum. For this purpose, we (1) analyzed science curriculum or content standards of Korea, California, England and Japan, (2) compared science textbooks of Korea and Japan, (3) conducted a nationwide survey to gather opinions from students, teachers, professors and textbook authors about the relevance of the science curriculum and textbooks. According to the results, the Earth science contents of the 7th national science curriculum were not appropriate in terms of the objectives of science curriculum and the needs of students and society. The main reasons include the equal division among physics, chemistry, biology and earth science, iack of connection due to fractionation of units, overly strict application of spiral curriculum, and redundant amount of activities and concepts to cover in the textbook. Major suggestions fir securing the relevance of Earth science contents are as follows: First, the science contents and the size of units at each grade level should be determined according to the students' characteristics, not by equal portion rule. Second, the excessive overlapping and repetition of contents due to the spiral curriculum should be avoided. In addition, the number of activities should be reduced and the quality of required science activities should be improved. Third, to raise students' interest in Earth science, real-life applications and real-world Earth science contents should be emphasized including natural disasters, safety, universe and space exploration, and natural resources. Lastly, considering one of the relevance criteria is feasibility, supports for schools and science teachers are needed to realize the goal of the intended science curriculum.

In this paper, we present an image retrieval method for improving retrieval performance by fusion of probabilistic method and query point movement. In the proposed algorithm, the similarity for probabilistic method and the similarity for query point movement are fused in the computation of the similarity between a query image and database image. The probabilistic method used in this paper is suitable for handling negative examples. On the other hand, query point movement deals with the statistical property of positive examples. Combining these two methods, our goal is to overcome their shortcoming. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields better performances over the probabilistic method and query point movement, respectively.
Purpose: This study examines the opportunism moderating effect by the startup experience in the relationship between franchisor and franchisees. In the case of a franchise system that has a continuous relational exchange transaction, relationship management is a very important activity because the relationship management between franchisor and franchisees improves the quality of the relationship. Nevertheless, there is insufficient of research on opportunism, which is a negative factor in managing the relationship between franchisor and franchisees in continuous relationship. Research design, data and methodology: This study, we explore the cause of opportunism based on transaction cost theory through prior research and establish a research model based by goal incongruity, uncertainty, information asymmetry, transaction specific assets, the relevance to determinant of opportunism and the startup experienced which is a moderating variable. To verify several hypotheses, the data were collected from 300 out of 1,760 domestic franchisees and analyzed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS program. Results: The findings are as follows. Goal incongruity did not affect opportunism. Opportunism increased as uncertainty increased, and as information asymmetry increased, opportunism increased. An opportunism decreased as transaction specific assets increased. Moreover, the findings show that startup experience only plays a moderating role in the relationship between information asymmetry and opportunism. Therefore, 4 out of 8 hypotheses were supported. Conclusions: The findings show that uncertainty, information asymmetry, and transaction specific assets are the determinants of opportunism. In addition, the results of the analysis of the moderating role of startup experience show that the less entrepreneurial experience, the greater the influence of information asymmetry on opportunism. Our findings mean that maintaining a successful relationship between franchisors and franchisees is possible when franchisors provide knowledge sharing, goal sharing, environmental sharing, and management information sharing to franchisees. In addition, the findings of this study shows that the contract content and management should be changed according to the entrepreneurial experience. In other words, the franchisors must share and integrate the accumulated franchisees' and franchisors' experience with the franchisees to create a synergy that can lead to successful bilateral relationship maintenance, which in turn reduces opportunism.
