  • From the whole plants of Orostachys japonicus(Crassulaceae), fatty acid ester mixture, seco-A-triterpene mixture, glutinone, friedelin, ${\beta}-amyrin$, glutinol, epifridelanol, 1-hexatriacontanol, sterol mixture, steryl glucoside mixture were isolated and characterized by spectral data.

상백피(Morus alba root bark)로부터 triterpenoid의 분리 및 동정 (Isolation and Identification of Triterpenoids from the Mulberry (Morus alba) Root Bark)

  • 뽕나무(Morus alba L.) 뿌리껍질을 실온에서 80% MeOH 수용액으로 추출하고 이 추출물을 EtOAC 분획, n-BuOH 분획, $H_2O$ 분획으로 나누었다. EtOAc 분획에 대하여 silica gel과 ODS column chromatography를 반복 실시하여 5종의 triterpenoid를 분리, 정제하였다. NMR, IR, 및 EI/MS 등을 해석하여, ${\alpha}$-amyrin (1), ${\alpha}$-acetyl amyrin (2), lupeol (3), betulinic acid (4) 그리고 glutinol (5)로 구조동정 하였다. 화합물 중 a-amyrin (1), lupeol (3) 그리고 glutinol (5)은 상백피로부터는 이번 실험에서 처음으로 분리되었다.

  • Triterpenoids were isolated from the whole plant of Orostachys japonicus (Crassulaceae) by repeated column chromatography. Their structures were identified as friedelin (1), glutinol (2), ${\beta}-sitosterol$ (3), friedelinol (4), $5{\alpha},8{\alpha}-peroxyergosterol$ (5), ${\beta}-sitostenone$ (6) and glutinone (7) by spectral analysis. Among them, compounds 5 and 6 were isolated for the first time from this plant.

  • As part of study of the constituents of bamboo grasses, the leaves of Sasa borealis (Hackel) Makino (Gramineae) were examined. Friedelin, glutinol, isoorientin and isovitexin have been reported as constituents of bamboo grasses. In this study, tricin and two flavone glycosides, tricin $7-O-{\beta}-D-glucopyranoside$ and luteolin $6-C-{\alpha}-L-arabinopyranoside$ have been isolated from EtOAc extract of S. borealis, by consecutive silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and a repetitive HPLC. The structures of these compounds were determined by IR, $^1H-NMR,\;^{13}C-NMR,\;^{13}C-^1H\;COSY,\;^1H-^1H\;COSY,\;HMBC$ and Mass spectral data.

만병초의 세포독성 성분 (Cytotoxic Constituents of Rhododendron brachycarpum)

  • From the methanol extract of Rhododendron brachycarpum four triterpenes, three phenylpropanes and a diterpene alkaloid were isolated. Their structures were identified as glutinol (1), 3$\beta$-hydroxyurs-12-ene (2), $\beta$-sitosterol (3), (E)-P-hydrox-ycinnamic acid hexadecylester (4), (-)-rhododendrol (5), (+)-rhododendrol (6), 3$\beta$-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid (7) and gray-anotoxin I (8) by spectroscopic methods. Compound 8 showed moderate cytotoxicity against five cultured human tumor cell lines with $ED_{50}$ values of $3.21\~4.05 {\mu}g/ml$. The other compounds were of marginal activity against the tested cell lines.

  • The content of two steroids-campesterol (1) and ${\beta}$-sitosterol (2), and four triterpenes-taraxetrone (5), ${\beta}$-amyrin (6), (-)-friedelin (7), glutinol (8) in the Orostachys japonicus A. Berger cultivated under various conditions was estimated and compared with those in wild one. The present investigation disclosed that there are no significant difference in their contents between cultivated Orostachys japonicus A. Berger and wild one. from viewpoint of the content of the steroids 1 and 2, and the triterpenes 5-8, the quality of cultivated Orostachys japonicus A. Berger is not inferior to the wild one.

  • Six compounds, eupatilin (1), dammaradienyl acetate (2), glutinol acetate (3), $3{\beta}-acetoxyoleanan-12-one$ (4), taraxasterol (5) and quercetin-3,4'-dimethyl ether (6) were isolated from the aerial parts of Artemisia absinthium. The chemical structures of compounds 1-6 were determined by the basis of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic methods such as 1D and 2D NMR. Among them, compounds 2-5 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The inhibitory effects of these isolated compounds against nitric oxide (NO) production in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells or BV2 microglia were also examined. Among the tested compounds, compound 1, eupatilin, inhibited the production of NO in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells and BV2 microglia, respectively.
