  • In Wireless Sensor Network, the sensor node localization is important issue for information tracking, event detection, routing. Generally, in wireless sensor network localization, the absolute positions of certain anchor nodes are required based on the use of global positioning system, then all the other nodes are approximately localized using various algorithms based on a coordinate system of anchor DV-Hop is a localized, distributed, hop by hop positioning algorithm in wireless sensor network where only a limited fraction of nodes have self positioning capability. However, instead of uniformly distributed network, in anisotropic network with possible holes, DV-Hop's performance is very low. To address this issue, we propose Group based DV-Hop (GDV-Hop) algorithm. Best contribution of GDV-Hop is that it performs localization with reduced error compared with DV-Hop in anisotropic network.

  • One of the most important VANET applications is providing active safety by broadcasting emergency messages. In order to prevent broadcast storm of flooding-based broadcasting scheme in which any node receiving message will rebroadcast, the existing protocols use the different methods to limit the number of relay nodes. Nevertheless, the existing protocols have low delivery ratio with high traffic density and cause message overhead. Currently, the dramatic increase in the number of vehicles equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) and onboard radar created new application scenarios that were not feasible before. Consequently, we proposed a broadcasting protocol that selects relay node by using GPS-based position information and detecting neighboring vehicles with the help of onboard radar to. Simulation results show that our proposed protocol has better performance than the existing schemes.

  • MANET can quickly build a network because it is configured with only the mobile node and it is very popular today due to its various application range. However, MANET should solve vulnerable security problem that dynamic topology, limited resources of each nodes, and wireless communication by the frequent movement of nodes have. In this paper, we propose a domain-based distributed cooperative intrusion detection techniques that can perform accurate intrusion detection by reducing overhead. In the proposed intrusion detection techniques, the local detection and global detection is performed after network is divided into certain size. The local detection performs on all the nodes to detect abnormal behavior of the nodes and the global detection performs signature-based attack detection on gateway node. Signature DB managed by the gateway node accomplishes periodic update by configuring neighboring gateway node and honeynet and maintains the reliability of nodes in the domain by the trust management module. The excellent performance is confirmed through comparative experiments of a multi-layer cluster technique and proposed technique in order to confirm intrusion detection performance of the proposed technique.

  • With the increase of various user's requirements, lots of interesting applications on the Internet have been emerging recently. However, Internet has many limitations for providing upcoming new services because it was only designed to provide basic connectivity between research networks and simplified forwarding functions at the first time. Internet has many problems in the aspects of routing scalability, mobility, security and QoS, so lots of researches are being actively performed in many countries to solve these problems. In this paper, we implement RED(Random Early Detection) scheduler using NetFPGA platform and local testbed to provide active queue management. Using the implemented RED scheduler, packets are dropped according to the specified drop probability, so Global Synchronization coming from simultaneous TCP segment losses in a congestion condition can be prevented. With the comparison to the Drop-Tail scheme in the basic router, we show TCP performance can be enhanced in the congestion situation using the NetFPGA-based RED scheduler.

  • Recently, interest in IoT(Internet of Things) technology, which provides Internet services to objects, is increasing. IoT offers a variety of services in home networks, healthcare, and disaster alerts. IoT with LLN(Low Power & Lossy Networks) feature frequently loses sensor node. RPL, the standard routing protocol of IoT, performs global repair when data loss occurs in a sensor node. However, frequent loss of sensor nodes due to lower sensor nodes causes network performance degradation due to frequent full path reset. In this paper, we propose an additional selection method of the storage mode sensor node to solve the network degradation problem due to the frequent path resetting problem even after selecting the storage mode sensor node, and propose a method of equalizing the total path resetting number of each instance.

  • Since the number of user-requests increases dramatically on the Internet, the servers and networks can be swamped unexpectedly without any prior notice. Therefore, the end-users are waiting or refused for the responses of the contents from the originating servers. To solve this problem, it has been considered that a distributed web caching system efficiently utilizes structural elements of the network. Because a distributed web caching system uses the caches that are close to end-users on the network, it transmits the contents to users faster than the original network system. This paper proposes a simple client-based distributed web caching system(2HRCS) that client can directly perform object allocation and load balancing without an additional DNS for load balancing in CARP (Cache Array Routing Protocol) and GHS (Global Hosting System) that are the recent distributed web caching system protocol. The proposed system reduces the cost of setup and operation by removing DNS that needs to balance the load in the existing system. The system has clients with consistent hashing method, so it extends its environment to other distributed web caching system that has caches of different capacity. A distributed web caching system is composed and tested to evaluate the performance. As a result, it shows superior performance to consistent hashing system. Because this system can keep performance of the existing system and reduce costs, it has the advantage of constructing medium or small scale CDN (Contents Delivery Network).

  • This paper proposes a new IPv6 networking paradigm as a counter answer to the rationale for locator/identifier separation. Instead of involving separate number spaces each for node identifiers and locators, the context of the IP address as a node identifier alone is utilized and no additional locators are incorporated. That is, there are only node addresses and no locators, and location information is indirectly derived from neighbor relations between nodes. In order to accomplish this, no subnet IDs are utilized; the ID value is set to zero for all subnets. The paper details how to construct this paradigm through novel choice of operational policies in various IPv6 protocols and some trivial modifications. Especially, inherent provision of intra-domain node- as well as subnet-mobility by use of standard link-state intra-domain routing protocols is discussed. A number of important advantages of this paradigm over the canonical IPv6 networking and various known solutions of locator/identifier separation are discussed. Tailoring for multi-area domains and IPv4 is left for further study.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSN) consist of a large amount of sensor nodes distributed in a certain region. Due to the limited battery power of a sensor node, lots of energy-efficient schemes have been studied. Clustering is primarily used for energy efficiency purpose. However, clustering in WSNs faces several unattained issues, such as ensuring connectivity and scheduling inter-cluster transmissions. In this paper, we propose a location-based spiral clustering (LBSC) algorithm for improving connectivity and avoiding inter-cluster collisions. It also provides reliable location aware routing paths from all cluster heads to a sink node during cluster formation. Proposed algorithm can simultaneously make clusters in four spiral directions from the center of sensor field by using the location information and residual energy level of neighbor sensor nodes. Three logical addresses are used for categorizing the clusters into four global groups and scheduling the intra- and inter-cluster transmission time for each cluster. We evaluated the performance with simulations and compared it with other algorithms.
