This paper presents a global mode modeling of space structures and a control scheme from the practical point of view. Since the size of the satellite has become bigger and the accuracy of attitude control more strictly required, it is necessary to consider the structural flexibility of the spacecraft. Although it is well known that the finite element (FE) model can accurately model the flexibility of the satellite, there are associated problems : FE model has the system matrix with high order and does not provide any physical insights, and is available only after all structural features have been decided. Therefore, it is almost impossible to design attitude and orbit controller using FE model unless the structural features are in place. In order to deal with this problem, the control design scheme with the global mode (GM) model is suggested. This paper describes a flexible structure modeling and three-axis controller design process and demonstrates the adequate performance of the design with respect to the maneuverability by applying it to a large flexible spacecraft model.
The objective of this study is to clarify how high school students recognize the mental model of the global environment and how they conceptualize the environment. Using the drawing and interview, 25 high school students participated in the survey and were asked to visualize the environmental elements of the global environment and describe the environment they portrayed. The dominant mental model in the present was Mental Model 3: the environment as a place impacted or modified by human activity. Yet, the partial mental model in the future was Mental Model 2: the environment as a place that supports human life. The implications to environmental science education are explored.
As robots are considered one of the mainstream digital transformations, robots with machine vision becomes a main area of study providing the ability to check what robots watch and make decisions based on it. However, it is difficult to find a small object in the image mainly due to the flaw of the most of visual recognition networks. Because visual recognition networks are mostly convolution neural network which usually consider local features. So, we make a model considering not only local feature, but also global feature. In this paper, we propose a detection method of a small marker on the object using deep learning and an algorithm that considers global features by combining Transformer's self-attention technique with a convolutional neural network. We suggest a self-attention model with new definition of Query, Key and Value for model to learn global feature and simplified equation by getting rid of position vector and classification token which cause the model to be heavy and slow. Finally, we show that our model achieves higher mAP than state of the art model YOLOr.
In order to produce more detailed and accurate information of river discharge and freshwater discharge, global high-resolution hydrodynamic model (CaMa-Flood) is applied to an operational land surface model of global seasonal forecast system. In addition, bias correction to grid runoff for the hydrodynamic model is attempted. CaMa-Flood is a river routing model that distributes runoff forcing from a land surface model to oceans or inland seas along continentalscale rivers, which can represent flood stage and river discharge explicitly. The runoff data generated by the land surface model are bias-corrected by using composite runoff data from UNH-GRDC. The impact of bias-correction on the runoff, which is spatially resolved on 0.5° grid, has been evaluated for 1991~2010. It is shown that bias-correction increases runoff by 30% on average over all continents, which is closer to UNH-GRDC. Two experiments with coupled CaMa-Flood are carried out to produce river discharge: one using this bias correction and the other not using. It is found that the experiment adapting bias correction exhibits significant increase of both river discharge over major rivers around the world and continental freshwater discharge into oceans (40% globally), which is closer to GRDC. These preliminary results indicate that the application of CaMa-Flood as well as bias-corrected runoff to the operational global seasonal forecast system is feasible to attain information of surface water cycle from a coupled suite of atmospheric, land surface, and hydrodynamic model.
Impact by estimation error of hourly horizontal global solar radiation in a weather file on building energy performance was investigated in this study. There are a number of weather parameters in a given weather file, such as dry-bulb, wet-bulb, dew-point temperatures; wind speed and direction; station pressure; and solar radiation. Most of them except for solar radiation can be easily obtained from weather stations located on the sites worldwide. However, most weather stations, also including the ones in South Korea, do not measure solar radiation because the measuring equipment for solar radiation is expensive and difficult to maintain. For this reason, many researchers have studied solar radiation estimation models and suggested to apply them to predict solar radiation for different weather stations in South Korea, where the solar radiation is not measured. However, only a few studies have been conducted to identify the impact caused by estimation errors of various solar radiation models on building energy performance analysis. Therefore, four different weather files using different horizontal global solar radiation data, one using measured global solar radiation, and the other three using estimated global solar radiation models, which are Cloud-cover Radiation Model (CRM), Zhang and Huang Model (ZHM), and Meteorological Radiation Model (MRM) were packed into TRY formatted weather files in this study. These were then used for office building energy simulations to compare their energy consumptions, and the results showed that there were differences in the energy consumptions due to these four different solar radiation data. Additionally, it was found that using hourly solar radiation from the estimation models, which had a similar hourly tendency with the hourly measured solar radiation, was the most important key for precise building energy simulation analysis rather than using the solar models that had the best of the monthly or yearly statistical indices.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to explore the model that supports the recipient country by using the ODA (Official Development Assistance) project and at the same time fits the global start-up/employment support of donor country with CSV business model. Specifically, we wanted to examine the feasibility of the project based on the existing ODA projects. Research design, data, and methodology - As the methodology, case studies and interview were conducted as well as literature studies. The case analysis is based on a press release of the entire KOICA's ODA project, which has been implemented for one year, based on 2017. After consideration, the actual results and future feasibility were analyzed. The interviews were conducted on senior Korean officials and Indian officials involved in Vietnam's ODA project. Results - As a result, some of the project cases applied and analyzed according to the model of this study were judged to be highly potential. Based on the results of this analysis, as the model derived from this study pursues, the global business model is developed under the CSV (Creating Shared Value) strategy through ODA projects to support recipient countries and global start-up/employment support of donor country. The possibility of simultaneously pursuing this model based on CSV business model was also confirmed. Conclusions - In the past, free aid agencies like KOICA focused solely on supporting recipient countries, but in terms of sustainability, they could discover the potential of supporting the global start-up/employment of the donor country using CSV business model in ODA project. In this study, we tried to find the theoretical background and potential possibilities in some ODA projects based on CSV business model. As a result of the analysis of KOICA ODA projects in 2017 and interviews, some ODA projects could be used to improve the economic development of the recipient country as well as the global start-up/employment of the donor country. Therefore, it is necessary for the ministries of the government to promote ODA projects to understand the framework that achieves these two objectives simultaneously and to promote ODA projects based on various strategic considerations.
Objectives : Sesamin, a major lignan in sesame seeds, has been reported to have neuroprotective effects against in vitro ischemia and in vivo MCAo-reperfusion cerebral ischemia model, however, there is no reports in an in vivo global cerebral ischemia model. The purpose of the study was to investigate the neuroprotective effect of sesamin in global cerebral ischemia induced by four-vessel occlusion (4-VO) in rats through inhibition of microglial activation in this model. Methods : The neuroprotective effects were investigated using a 10 min of 4-VO ischemia rat model by measuring intact pyramidal neurons in the CA1 region of the hippocampus using Nissle staining. The antiinflammatory or reducing neurotoxicity effect was investigated using immunohistochemisty, RT-PCR and western blot analysis of inflammatory or neurotoxic mediators. Results : Intraperitoneal injection of sesamin at doses of 0.3, 1.0, 3.0, and 10.0 mg/kg at 0 min and 90 min after ischemia conferred 26.6%, 30.1%, 42.5%, and 30.5% neuroprotection, respectively, compared to the vehicle-treated control group. A 3.0 mg/kg dose of sesamin inhibited microglia activation and consequently, cyclooxygenase-2, inducible nitric oxide, and interleukine-$1{\beta}$ expressions at 48 h after reperfusion. Conclusions : Sesamin protects neuronal cell death through inhibition of microglial activation or the production of neurotoxic metabolites and proinflammatory mediators by microglia such as COX-2, iNOS and IL-$1{\beta}$ in global cerebral ischemia.

The study empirically examines the impact of monetary fundamentals along with global oil prices on the Pak-rupee exchange rate using the monthly data over 2001-2020. Employing the cointegrating vector autoregressive with exogenous variables (VARX) and vector error correction model with exogenous variables (VECMX), the study analyzes the impact of domestic monetary fundamentals while considering the foreign variables as weakly exogenous. In order to account for the structural breaks in the data, the Lagrange multiplier (LM) unit root test with two structural breaks has been used (Lee & Strazicich, 2003). The empirical results reveal that the domestic and foreign monetary variables significantly explain the exchange rate movements in Pakistan both in the long run and in the short run. The dynamic properties of the monetary model of exchange rate have been analyzed using the persistence profile analysis and generalized impulse response functions (GIRFs). The results reveal that the responses of shocks to domestic monetary fundamentals are consistent with the predictions of the monetary model of the exchange rate. Furthermore, being a net oil importer, a rise in global oil prices significantly depreciated the Pak-rupee exchange rate over the period of study. The global financial crisis (GFC) and pandemic (COVID-19) were also found to cause the Pak-rupee exchange rate depreciation.
In the global ship structure and vibration analysis, the FE(finite element) analysis model is required in the early design stage before the 3D CAD model is defined. And the analysis model generation process is a time-consuming job and takes much more time than the engineering work itself. In particular, ship structure has too many associated structural members such as stringers, stiffness and girders etc. These structural members should be satisfied as the constraints in analysis modeling. Therefore it is necessary to support generation of analysis model with satisfying these constraints as an automatic manner. For the effective support of the global ship analysis modeling, a method to generate analysis model using initial design information within ship design process, that hull form offset data and compartment data, is developed. In order to easily handle initial design information and FE model information, flexible data structure is proposed. An automatic quadrilateral mesh generation algorithm using initial design information to satisfy the constraints imposed on the ship structure is also proposed. The proposed data structure and mesh generation algorithm are applied for the various type of vessels for the usability test. Through this test, we have verified the stability and usefulness of this system including mesh generation algorithm.

This paper presents here the results of the measurements of rain-induced attenuation in the vertically polarized signal propagating at 12.2525 GHz during some rain events, which occurred in the rainy wet season of the year 2001 at Yong-in, Korea(temperate climate). The attenuation measured experimentally was compared with that obtained using the International Telecommunication Union Radio Communication Sector(ITU-R) model, the SAM model and the Global model. In this paper, measured results are in good agreement with the ITU-R prediction.
