A vibration-impedance-based monitoring method is proposed to predict the loss of prestress forces in prestressed concrete (PSC) girder bridges. Firstly, a global damage alarming algorithm using the change in frequency responses is formulated to detect the occurrence of damage in PSC girders. Secondly, a local damage detection algorithm using the change in electro-mechanical impedance features is selected to identify the prestress-loss in tendon and anchoring members. Thirdly, a prestress-loss prediction algorithm using the change in natural frequencies is selected to estimate the extent of prestress-loss in PSC girders. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed method is experimentally evaluated on a scaled PSC girder model for which acceleration responses and electro-mechanical impedances were measured for several damage scenarios of prestress-loss.
We propose UPGMA(Unweighted Pair Group Method using Average distance) as hierarchical clustering to detect abrupt shot changes using multiple features such as pixel-by-pixel difference, global and local histogram difference. Conventional $\kappa$-means algorithm which is a method of the partitional clustering, has to select an efficient initial cluster center adaptively UPGMA that we propose, does not need initial cluster center because of agglomerative algorithm that it starts from each sample for clusters. And UPGMA results in stable performance. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm works not only well but also stably.

Lifestyle change in the world is spawning an epidemic of Global Obesity. (Newsweek August 11. 2003) People with overweight are at great risk of developing Type II diabetes. The A1C value provides an objective assessment of glucose control over the previous six to eight weeks. The American Diabetes Association recommended values for blood glucose and A1C appear in TABLE 4. In case one who was found to have >7% HbA1C, he(she) may be a patient with pre-DM or DM II. (omitted)
Radiometric normalization with multi-temporal satellite images is essential for time series analysis and change detection. Generally, relative radiometric normalization, which is an image-based method, is performed, and histogram matching is a representative method for normalizing the non-linear properties. However, since it utilizes global statistical information only, local information is not considered at all. Thus, this paper proposes a histogram matching method considering local information. The proposed method divides histograms based on density, mean, and standard deviation of image intensities, and performs histogram matching locally on the sub-histogram. The matched histogram is then further partitioned and this process is performed again, iteratively, controlled with the wasserstein distance. Finally, the proposed method is compared to global histogram matching. The experimental results show that the proposed method is visually and quantitatively superior to the conventional method, which indicates the applicability of the proposed method to the radiometric normalization of multi-temporal images with non-linear properties.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the land cover environment changes of tidal flat in the Hampyeong Bay. Especially, it centers on the changes in the sedimentary environment using remote sensing data. Multi-temporal Landsat data (Path-Row: 116-034) were used in this study. Remote sensing data can be effectively applied for quantitative analysis of geological environment changes in the Hampyeong-bay.
This study focused on providing a methodology to utilize temporal information obtained from remotely sensed data for monitoring a wide variety of targets on the earth's surface. Generally, a methodology in understanding of global changes is composed of mapping, quantifying, and monitoring changes in the physical characteristics of land cover. The selected processing and analysis technique affects the quality of the obtained information. In this research, feature extraction methodology is proposed based on segmentation. It requires a series of processing of multitempotal images: preprocessing of geometric and radiometric correction, image subtraction/thresholding technique, and segmentation/thresholding. It results in the mapping of the change-detected areas. Here, the appropriate methods are studied for each step and especially, in segmentation process, a method to delineate the exact boundaries of features is investigated in multiresolution framework to reduce computational complexity for multitemporal images of large size.
Finite element (FE) model updating is a useful tool for global damage detection technique, which identifies the damage of the structure using measured vibration data. This paper presents the application of a finite element model updating method to detect the damage of a small-scale reinforced concrete building structure using measured acceleration data from shaking table tests. An iterative FE model updating strategy using the least-squares solution based on sensitivity of frequency response functions and natural frequencies was provided. In addition, a side constraint to mitigate numerical difficulties associated with ill-conditioning was described. The test structure was subjected to six El Centro 1942 ground motion histories with different Peak Ground Accelerations (PGA) ranging from 0.06 g to 0.5 g, and analytical models corresponding to each stage of the shaking were obtained using the model updating method. Flexural stiffness values of the structural members were chosen as the updating parameters. In model updating at each stage of shaking, the initial values of the parameter were set to those obtained from the previous stage. Severity of damage at each stage of shaking was determined from the change of the updated stiffness values. Results indicated that larger reductions in stiffness values occurred at the slab members than at the wall members, and this was consistent with the observed damage pattern of the test structure.
Smart cities are expected to provide residents with convenience via various agents such as CCTV, delivery robots, security robots, and unmanned shuttles. Environmental data collected by various agents can be used for various purposes, including advertising and security monitoring. This study suggests a surveillance map data framework for efficient and integrated multimodal data representation from multi-agents. The suggested surveillance map is a multilayered global information grid, which is integrated from the multimodal data of each agent. To confirm this, we collected surveillance map data for 4 months, and the behavior patterns of humans and vehicles, distribution changes of elevation, and temperature were analyzed. Moreover, we represent an anomaly detection algorithm based on a surveillance map for security service. A two-stage anomaly detection algorithm for unusual situations was developed. With this, abnormal situations such as unusual crowds and pedestrians, vehicle movement, unusual objects, and temperature change were detected. Because the surveillance map enables efficient and integrated processing of large multimodal data from a multi-agent, the suggested data framework can be used for various applications in the smart city.
