Microdrilling of Glass Substrates by Electrochemical Discharge Machining (전기화학적 방전법에 의한 유리기판의 미세가공)

  • Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is a so-call non-conventional machining technique. This paper presents the experimental results of an EDM technique for the fabircation of microholes on #7440 pyrex glans. With various applied voltages and at various concentration of KOH solution, the glass substrate have been microdrilled using the copper electrodes of which diameters are 250$\mu\textrm{m}$ to 450$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. The machined throughholes have been observed the top diameter, the bottom diameter, hollow width and hole diameter of the hole, and machining time hale been measured. The experimental results show that the machining time decreases as the concentration of KOH solution increases or the applied voltage increase. Also, The top diameter increases as the concentration of KOH solution decreases or the allied voltage increases. The bottom and hollow width decreases as the of KOH solution increases or the applied voltage decreases.

Hydrophobic Properties on RF-sputtered PTFE Films coated on UV-treated Glass Substrates (UV 처리된 유리기판위에 RF-스퍼터된 PTFE 박막들의 발수 특성)

  • Surface properties of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) films fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering system with UV surface treatment were investigated to increase water contact angle for their hydrophobic property. We found that the surface morphology and water contact angles of PTFE film modified as a function of the UV treatment times using UV-irradiation were influenced. The water contact angle of PTFE film with optimized UV treatment time for 15 minute showed a high hydrophobicity compared with the film without any surface treatment. We thought that it was due to the energy change of PTFE surface with an adhesion improvement to the glass surface as a smoothing a rough surface with needle-shape and/or the enhancement of an interface property as a removing some defects on the surface like a cleaning effect.

  • Thin CoCrTa/Cr films were deposited on glass substrates at $280^{\circ}C$ with or without Al underlayer. The coercivity of CoCrTa increased considerably by introducing an Al underlayer. The grain size of Cr thin film deposited on Al underlayer became smaller than that of Cr thin film deposited on glass substrate. The grain size of CoCrTa thin film was determined by Cr grain size. The cause of the coercivity increase seems to be associated with the refinement and uniform distribution of CoCrTa grains.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have excellent electrical, chemical stability, mechanical and thermal properties. In this paper, networks of Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) materials were investigated as transparent electrode. Sensor films were fabricated by air spray method using the multi-walled CNTs solution on glass substrates. The film that was sprayed with the MWCNT dispersion for 60 sec, was 300nm thick. And the electric resistivity and the light transmittance rate are $2{\times}10^2{\Omega}cm$ and 60%, respectively.

  • Thin Film Transistor(TFTs) were fabricated from poly-Si crystallized by a two-step annealing process on glass substrates. The combination of low-temperature(500$^{\circ}C$) Metal-Induced Lateral Crystallization(MILC) furnace annealing and high -temperature (700$^{\circ}C$) rapid thermal annealing leads to the improvement of the material quality The TFTs measured with this two-step annealing material exhibit better characteristics than those obtained by using conventional MILC furnace annealing.

The effect of NPB morphology on OLEDs optoelectronic characteristics

  • NPB surface morphologies deposited on different temperature substrates were investigated using atomic force microscopy(AFM). It has been found that the NPB morphology turned from island morphology at high temperature(100$^{\circ}C$) to grain morphology at room temperature. To characterize the effect of NPB surface morphology, the devices with the structure of Glass/ITO/NPB/$Alq_3$/Al were fabricated using NPB films deposited at different substrate temperature and their performances were compared.

  • Thin-film photosensors on organic light emitting diode (OLED) glass substrates using active-matrix OLED TFT manufacturing processes have been constructed and optimized, and their performance has been characterized. Suitable control circuitry and applications are proposed. The photosensors may be integrated into OLED displays for detection of ambient illumination and for detection of OLED light emission, thereby enabling output, uniformity, and aging compensation.

  • A novel titania sol for the preparation of hydrophilic TiO2 films was synthesized from TiCl4. TiO2 films were prepared by spraying the sol on glass substrates and the hydrophilic properties of the films were invest igated with illumination of UV light. The contact angle of a water drop on the films decreased to less than 7˚, which indicates the excellent hydrophilicity of the TiO2 films.

  • We have simultaneously fabricated LTPS TFTs and integrated photodiodes on the same glass substrates without any additional LTPS process. The structure of an integrated photodiode is a lateral p-i-n diode with a gate. The performances of a photodiode were improved at a negative gate voltage.
