  • In this study. an experimental study has been introduced for the various exhaust pipe geometry of 4-stroke single cylinder engine. The main experimental parameters are the variation of exhaust pipe diameters and lengths to measure the pulsating flow when the intake and exhaust valves are working. As the results of experimental test, the various exhaust geometry were influenced strongly on the exhaust pressure. As the exhaust pipe diameter was decreased, the amplitude and the number of compression wave in exhaust pressure was increased. According to decreasing pipe diameter, the number of compression wave in exhaust pressure was decreased.

Discrete Wavelet Transform for Watermarking Three-Dimensional Triangular Meshes from a Kinect Sensor

  • We present a simple method to watermark three-dimensional (3D) triangular meshes that have been generated from the depth data of the Kinect sensor. In contrast to previous methods, which maintain the shape of 3D triangular meshes and decide the embedding place, requiring calculations of vertices and their neighbors, our method is based on selecting one of the coordinate axes. To maintain shape, we use discrete wavelet transform and constant regularization. We know that the watermarking system needs the information to be embedded; we used a text to provide that information. We used geometry attacks such as rotation, scales, and translation, to test the performance of this watermarking system. Performance parameters in this paper include the vertices error rate (VER) and bit error rate (BER). The results from the VER and BER indicate that using a correction term before the extraction process makes our system robust to geometry attacks.

  • This paper aims to investigate the micro-mechanical behaviour of tow geometry with forming pressures and densities of foams during the curing process of plain weave carbon fibre fabric prepregs onto polymer foams. In order to find out and compare deformation patterns between different forming conditions, tow parameters such as amplitude and crimp angle etc. are investigated. From the observation results, geometric difference in the tow architecture with respect to forming conditions and foam characteristics were found. To observe the micro-deformation of the fabric structure, appropriate specimens from carbon fibre-foam sandwich structures are sectioned and observed under the microscope.

  • The cylinder without seal has a piston with air bearing which is partly cylindrical and conical shape. The description of system geometry is deviation by the flow rate equation. Then pressure distribution and bearing force equations are derived. Several non-dimensional parameters are suggested. The relationship among bearing force, leakage flow and geometry of the bearing is investigated by simulation. And determination method for optimal design of sealless cylinder is given. A prototype of sealless cylinder which had rod bearing with four pockets, five pockets, and six pockets was built respectively. As a result of leakage flow test, it is evaluation to air bearing in sealless cylinder.

공구형상 최적화 및 비자성체의 자가연마 특성 연구 (Tool Geometry Optimization and Magnetic Abrasive Polishing for Non-ferrous Material)

  • The magnetic abrasive polishing (MAP) process is used to achieve the nano-meter grade polishing results on flat or complicated surface. In previous study, polishing the stainless steel plate which is a non-magneto-material was tried. To polish non-magneto-materials using the MAP process was very difficult because the process was fundamentally possible by the help of a magnetic force. Therefore, it had lower efficiency than magneto-materials such as SM45C. In this study, optimization for tool geometry of the MAP was performed to improve the magnetic force between tool and workpiece. Moreover, a permanent magnet was installed below the non-magneto-material to improve the magnetic force. And then the design of experiments was carried out to evaluate the effect of the MAP parameters on the polishing results.

  • 본 논문에서는 굽힘과 내압이 가해질 때 미터밴드의 한계하중을 3차원 유한요소해석을 이용하여 연구하였다. 재료는 탄성-완전 소성재료로 가정하였고, 기하학적 선형과 비선형 효과를 고려하여 소성 한계하중을 결정하였다. 본 연구를 위한 해석에서는 다양한 범위의 형상 변수가 고려되었다. 유한요소해석 결과를 바탕으로 굽힘에 관한 보간식을 제시하였다.

  • 유역 수문학에 있어서 하도망의 지형학적 특성을 하천유출해석에 적용시키는 방법을 지형학적 순간단위도를 이용해서 검토하였다. 유역의 지형학적 특성은 Shreve link분류법과 Kirkby가 제안한 거리함수를 이용하여 정량적으로 표현 하였다. 거리함수는 해석적으로 유도된 확률모델로서 Weibull분포를 사용하였으며, 분석대상유역에 대한 거리함수의 확률모델과 하도망으 구조적 특성 및 기타 지형인자등을 분석하였다.

  • Sealing an oil-air mixture plays important roles to have an enhanced lubrication for high speed spindle. High speed spindles require non-contact type sealing mechanism. In this study, an optimum seal design to minimize leakage is concerned in the aspect of flow control. This paper categorizes geometries of mostly used non-contact type seals and analyzes each leakage characteristics to minimize a leakage on sealing area. Effect of minimum clearance and its position are considered according to variation of detail geometry. The estimation of non-leaking property is determined by amount of pressure drop in the leakage path assuming constant leakage flow. To simulate an oil jet or oil mist type high speed spindle lubrication, the working fluid is regarded as two phases that are mixed flow of oil phase and air phase. Both of the turbulence and the compressible flow model were introduced in CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis. Design parameters has been induced to minimize leakage in limited space, and a methodological study on geometrical optimization has been conducted.

  • A tailor welded blank (TWB) is a welded blank comprised of two or more sheets with different properties - thickness, strengths or formabilities. TWBs are applied to the body panels to reduce weight and cost of the part. In this research, ultra high strength steel and high ductility steel were joined and laser tailor welded blanks were implemented. Yb:YAG laser welding tests were conducted with various welding conditions, and mechanical and geometrical characteristics of weldments were evaluated.
