풍수지리설은 재래 한국문화에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤고 지금도 사회 일각에서는 풍수신앙이 성행하고 있다. 이러한 풍수지리설은 중국 황토고원의 굴집을 마련하는 데에서부터 시작된 것으로 보인다. 이것이 한국에 전파되어 고대부터 한국의 문화경관 형성과 한국인의 땅을 보는 의식구조(geomentality)에 큰 영향온 미쳤다. 근래 지리학자들이 풍수연구를 외면하는 경향은 지리학자들이 지관으로 몰리고 지리학이 풍수학으로 오인될까 염려한데 그 큰 이유가 있는 것 같다. 풍수지리설리 옳고 그름은 신앙차원의 문제지, 과학적으로 학문적으로 다 룰 문제가 아니다. 명당을 찾는 지관을 축구경기에서 뛰고 있는 축구 선수에 비유한다면 풍수를 연구하는 학자는 축구 관전평을 쓰는 사람에 비유할 수 있다. 풍수를 연구하는 지리학자는 풍수신앙을 객관화 하여 학적으로 따져보고 설명하는 것이 바람직하다.

In this study the writer would like to study the art of navigation in the Era of Silla. For the purpose of this study, the writer studied ship's log book of Ennin's Diary, the ancient ship's structures of Korean, Chinese, Japanese, winds and ocean currents around Korean Peninsular which effect the navigation of sailing ship, and ancient reference books and materials. The result of this study. in the ship's structure in the Era of Silla. bottom structure is considered flat and V-Shaped type, and sailing ship had anchor, sail, considerable deckhouse, transverse bulkhead. And the ship's main materials of sailing ship was wood. partially used irons in the panting structures. In the art of navigation, navigators used winds, ocean current, anchor, sail, depth and color of sea water, lights, ballast. Especially navigators used astrologers and geomancers for astronomical observation, weather forecast, natural phenomena.

According to the 17th century palace construction documents, head artisans were called Pyunsoo. In one building constructions, not only carpenters but also masons, plasterers and painters had their own head, Pyunsoos. This meant that Moksoo-Pyunsoo, head carpenter, could not manage the whole design of the building. Moreover, in many cases, selecting and laying the site of the building were determined by the geomancers. Under those working conditions, Moksoo-Pyunsoo could only have charge of designing the wooden parts, such as structural forms or detailed carvings. The documents showed that some dominent carpenters, like Kwak Ki Jong or Lee Choon Bong, had taken on the post of Moksoo-Pyunsoo in almost every palace constructions, especially inner palace buildings. Form the fact that the same carpenters had worked continuosly, it can be presumed that there would have many resemblance of structural forms or carvings among those inner palace buildings.
