The Process Safety Management (PSM) by the Law of Industry, Safety and Health has been performed for preventing major accidents of chemical plants since 1996. In terms of preventing chemical accidents more precisely, it is essential to develop a tool for quantitative risk assessment. For this, KOSHA (Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency) developed an Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS). The system is designed to assimilate data on chemical plant hazards from external database, to integrate these data with location information(topographic and demographic), and to make them user-friendly accessible. The system consists of several main functions: display of five major Korean petrochemical complex layout display of equipment layout with its information utilizing the external database, zonation of the hazard effected area with consequence analyses, the most probable accident scenario generation, accident/incident database and calculation of frequency of accident using equipment reliability database, etc. The highlight of IRMS is to provide the risk contours using GIS(Geographical Information System) technology. IRMS is intended to manage hazardous installation more systematically and effectively, to reduce the number of accident remarkably, further minimizing production loss in the plant. The system is now under application to about 500 PSM sites as well as and emergency authorities in Korea by KOSHA (Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency)
This study examines the competitiveness of urban industrial structure and its changing characteristics. Cluster analysis of Arizona towns based on economic functions revealed the changing characteristics of urban functions over time. The relationship between the changes of urban functions and industrial competitiveness was confirmed through shift-share analysis. The level of industrial specialization has become more closely related to urban size in terms of both population and employment, but the relationship between metropolitan location and specialization level is not clear. Also, it is validated that the economies of Arizona towns have become more diversified and, consequently, have tended to converge toward the state average in industrial structure over time.

The objective of this research is to achieve an objectivity of site decision after extracting site decision factors on a large-scale discount store(LSDS) and utilize any hidden information using the association rules mining through huge database. To catch this objective, we collect a census, economic, and environmental dataset related with locating of LSDS. And then, we construct a spatial data on the research area. These data is used for the extraction of a spatial association rules. To verify whether the extracted rules are suitability or not, we use the sales of some LSDS. As the result of test, the more sales, the more factors of the extracted rules relate with the sales it coincides. Consequently, the spatial association rules mining is efficient method which support the ideal site decision of LSDS.
Twelve 924 bp cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) mitochondrial DNA sequences from Taenia asiatica isolates from Thailand were aligned and compared with multiple sequence isolates from Thailand and 6 other countries from the GenBank database. The genetic divergence of T. asiatica was also compared with Taenia saginata database sequences from 6 different countries in Asia, including Thailand, and 3 countries from other continents. The results showed that there were minor genetic variations within T. asiatica species, while high intraspecies variation was found in T. saginata. There were only 2 haplotypes and 1 polymorphic site found in T. asiatica, but 8 haplotypes and 9 polymorphic sites in T.saginata. Haplotype diversity was very low, 0.067, in T. asiatica and high, 0.700, in T. saginata. The very low genetic diversity suggested that T. asiatica may be at a risk due to the loss of potential adaptive alleles, resulting in reduced viability and decreased responses to environmental changes, which may endanger the species.

Estimating the implicit value of housing assets is a very important task for participants in the housing market. Until now, such estimations were usually carried out using multiple regression analysis based on the inherent characteristics of the estate. However, in this paper, we examine the estimation capabilities of the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) and its 'Deep Learning' faculty. To make use of the strength of the neural network model, which allows the recognition of patterns in data by modeling non-linear and complex relationships between variables, this study utilizes geographic coordinates (i.e. longitudinal/latitudinal points) as the locational factor of housing prices. Specifically, we built a dataset including structural and spatiotemporal factors based on the hedonic price model and compared the estimation performance of the models with and without geographic coordinate variables. The results show that high estimation performance can be achieved in ANN by explaining the spatial effect on housing prices through the geographic location.

Does the industrial complex of Korea leading the growth in manufacturing industry play the role of intensifying agglomeration effects? To answer this question, this study empirically analyzes the moderating effects of industrial complex on the relation between agglomeration externalities and regional productivity, which has not been covered by previous researches. To do so, analysis of panel data has been conducted using the regional level data for the period of 2010 to 2019. Empirical results are provided at different levels including the whole country, capital region and non-capital region. As a result, it was found that in non-capital region, environments to strengthen positive agglomeration externalities stemming from specialization and diversity in manufacturing through industrial complex whithin the region are built up. However, moderating effects of industrial complex is quite limited in capital region. This implies that the role of industrial complex needs to be importantly reconsidered in the perspective of maximization of agglomeration effects in manufacturing, revitalization of non-capital area and manufacturing innovation.

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the psychological well-being (PWB) during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in workers of a multinational company. Methods: Employees (aged ≥18 years) were recruited from Latin American, North American, New Zealand, and European sites of a multinational company operative during all the pandemic period. The self-reported Psychological General Well-Being Index was used to assess the global PWB and the effects on six subdomains: anxiety, depressed mood, positive well-being, self-control, general health, and vitality. The influencing role of age, gender, geographical location, COVID-19 epidemiology, and restrictive measures adopted to control the pandemic was explored. Results: A total of 1335 workers completed the survey. The aggregate median PWB global score was in a positive range, with significantly better outcomes detected in the Mexican and Colombian Latin American sites compared with the other worldwide countries (p < 0.001). Among the European locations, a significantly higher PWB score was determined in Spain compared with the German and French sites (p < 0.05). Comparable geographical trends were demonstrated for all the PWB subdomains. Male workers had a significantly better PWB compared with females (p < 0.05), whereas a negative correlation emerged with aging (p = 0.01). COVID-19 epidemiology and pandemic control measures had no clear effects on PWB. Conclusion: Monitoring PWB and the impact of individual and pandemic-related variables may be helpful to clarify the mental health effects of pandemic, define targeted psychological-supporting measures, also in the workplace, to face such a complex situation in a more constructive way.

This study conducted an in-depth case study of bio-health companies in the Chungcheong region to examine the factors influencing the relocation of new industry cluster firms in non-metropolitan areas. Focusing on the experiences and perceptions of key stakeholders within the cluster, which have been relatively overlooked in previous research, this narrative research explored the factors that lead entrepreneurs who initially founded their businesses in non-metropolitan areas to relocate to metropolitan areas as well as the decision-making process involved. Through interviews with 61 key stakeholders within the Chungcheong cluster, it was observed that entrepreneurs receive various benefits from local stakeholders during the initial stages of entrepreneurship. However, as the company enters a phase of significant growth, matters such as securing specialized talent and market accessibility lead them to contemplate relocating to metropolitan areas. Based on case studies of companies that both remained and relocated in the Chungcheong region, this study examines structural drawbacks within non-metropolitan clusters and provides policy implications.

This study examined the characteristics of the Mongolian retail market through the case of CU, a Korean retail company that successfully entered Mongolia. This study provides useful implications for Korean companies planning to enter Mongolia. Despite its proximity to Korea, Mongolia is a difficult environment for the retail market because of its small domestic market, landlocked location, inefficient logistics infrastructure, and lack of laws and regulations related to the retail industry. On the other hand, CU has successfully settled in the Mongolian market through master franchise agreements with a local company and by promoting a glocalization strategy. Mongolia CU is not just a convenience store but a place where Mongolians can enjoy global culture, and it is being reorganized as a new space where Mongolians can satisfy their consumption needs.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the industrial structural changes and types of specialized in the shipbuilding cities, which are representative sectors of industrial city decline, and explore regional responses. Most cities designated as special areas for industrial crisis response in 2018 are specialized in shipbuilding. While the shift from prosperity to recession since the 2010s is the main factor, each city has responded differently to the industrial crisis. The analysis, targeting seven shipbuilding cities, shows that regions where large shipyards of major corporations with high industrial competitiveness are located have relatively less decline during business fluctuations, and there is a tendency for a decrease in industrial structural diversity during prosperous periods and an increase during recessionary periods. Based on the resistance and recoverability to industrial crises, the industrial paths of shipbuilding cities are classified into four types. Considering regional industrial structure and competitiveness, it is necessary to develop customized support strategies such as maintaining and declining shipbuilding industries and fostering new alternative industries.
