  • Welding conditions in process of spot welding must become optimum and need to guarantee stability and reliability of vehicle body considering dynamic load history. Because welding parameters in process of spot welding are various, it is difficult that the quality of spot weldment was included in the optimum levels. In this paper, we found the optimum welding conditions satisfying KS spot welding qualities using genetic algorithm and spot welding experiments of high tensile strength steel and galvanized steel. Those experiments were dissimilar weld and 2-lap spot welding. Genetic algorithm created random welding condition after that, selected optimum individuals by probability concept.

  • In this study, we introduce a noble neurogenetic approach to the design of the fuzzy controller. The design procedure dwells on the use of Computational Intelligence (CI), namely genetic algorithms and neurofuzzy networks (NFN). The crux of the design methodology is based on the selection and determination of optimal values of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controllers, which are essential to the entire optimization process. First, tuning of the scaling factors of the fuzzy controller is carried out, and then the development of a nonlinear mapping for the scaling factors is realized by using GA based NFN. The developed approach is applied to an inverted pendulum nonlinear system where we show the results of comprehensive numerical studies and carry out a detailed comparative analysis.

  • In order to generate hull form, we introduced optimization process. Fairness criteria is applied to object function, B-Spline control vertices are considered as design variables, optimization is proceeded with satisfying geometric constraint conditions. GA(Genetic Algorithm) and optimality criteria are applied to optimization process in this study.

  • In this paper, a job shop scheduling system is developed which can cope with the changes of shop floor status with flexibility. This system suggests near optimal sequence of operations by using Genetic Algorithm which considers alternative process plans. The Genetic Algorithm proposed in this paper has some characteristics. The mutation rate is differentiated in order to enhance the chance to escape a local optimum and to assure the global optimum. And it employs the double gene structure to easily make the modeling of the shop floor. Finally, the quality of its solution and the computational time are examined in comparison with the method of a Simulated Annealing.

  • This study deals with obtaining the optimal shape of a patch antenna via the topology optimization method in order to enhance its radiation efficiency. The genetic algorithm scheme is proposed for the optimization process to satisfy the design objective. As a result, the optimal patch shape through the proposed process shows highly improved radiation efficiency and reduced scattered effects. Commercial package COMSOL and Matlab programming are employed for the entire optimization and analysis processes.

  • In this study, a multivariate function was applied to the genetic algorithm for D-type lugs currently used in shipyards to closely analyze the behavioral form of weight loss without double plates. An optimal lifting lug structure design without attachments is proposed. MATLAB R2016a was used to design features by applying multivariate functions to genetic algorithms. Furthermore, the design was achieved by deriving the optimal shapes of lugs using genetic algorithms. The shapes of the designed lugs were validated for structural bonding using the structural analysis program ANSYS 2020 R2, and a robust design of lugs with no appendages was developed.

  • Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) has been used as an important medicinal plant in the Orient for a long time. It has been claimed that ginseng has many beneficial bioactive effects on human health, such as antitumor, antistress, antiaging and enhancing immune functions. Red ginseng possibly have new ingredients converted during steaming and dry process from fresh ginseng. Kujeungkupo method which means 9 repetitive steaming and drying process was used for the processes of green tea, Polygonatum odoratum, and Rehmanniae radix preparata. In this study, ingredient conversion of ginseng by 9 repetitive steaming and drying process were investigated measuring conversion efficiency of brown materials, crude lipids, crude proteins and aromatic compounds. Brown materials, as an antioxidant, in red ginseng were produced through non-enzymatic reaction by heat. Repetitive steaming and drying treatments on ginseng root contiunously increased the content of brown materials and the chromaticity. Crude lipids were degraded by heat and converted into volatile aromatic ingredients. Crude lipids were degraded and decreased by 0.52% after the 5th and 7th. Crude proteins were also decomposed and converted to amino acid. Crude proteins after the 9th treatment were decreased by more than 85% as increased times of treatments. A bicyclogermacrene as aromatic material was decreased as increased treatment times, while but a aromatic caramel was increased.

  • A real-time processing system for embedded hardware genetic algorithm is suggested. In order to operate basic module of genetic algorithm in parallel, such as selection, crossover, mutation and evaluation, dual processors based architecture is implemented. The system consists of two Xscale processors and two FPGA with evolvable hardware, which enables to process genetic algorithm efficiently by distributing the computational load of hardware genetic algorithm to each processors equally. The hardware genetic algorithm runs on Linux OS and the resulted chromosome is executed on evolvable hardware in FPGA. Furthermore, the suggested architecture can be extended easily for a couple of connected processors in serial, making it accelerate to compute a real-time hardware genetic algorithm. To investigate the effect of proposed approach, performance comparisons is experimented for an typical computation of genetic algorithm.

  • With the rapid evolution of diagnostic tools, particularly next-generation sequencing, the identification of genetic diseases, predominantly those with pediatric-onset, has significantly advanced. However, this progress presents challenges that span from selecting appropriate tests to the final interpretation of results. This review examines various genetic testing methodologies, each with specific indications and characteristics, emphasizing the importance of selecting the appropriate genetic test in clinical practice, taking into account factors like detection range, cost, turnaround time, and specificity of the clinical diagnosis. Interpretation of variants has become more challenging, often requiring further validation and significant resource allocation. Laboratories primarily classify variants based on the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the Association for Clinical Genomic Science guidelines, however, this process has limitations. This review underscores the critical role of clinicians in matching patient phenotypes with reported genes/variants and considering additional factors such as variable expressivity, disease pleiotropy, and incomplete penetrance. These considerations should be aligned with specific gene-disease characteristics and segregation results based on an extended pedigree. In conclusion, this review aims to enhance understanding of the complexities of clinical genetic testing, advocating for a multidisciplinary approach to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective management of rare genetic diseases.
