Classical finite element programs are not well suited to the design of composite structures, because they are primarily analysis tools and need much time for the data input and as well as for the interpretation of the results. The aim of this paper is to develop a program which allows very fast analyses and reanalyses for design process, thanks to a fast reanalysis method with changes of data and conditions. Speed in the analysis Is obtained by simplification of the analysed structure and limitations in its geometrical generality and improvements in numerical methods. The use of the program is made easy with interactive user-friendly facilities.
In the paper we classify complex K3 surfaces with non-symplectic automorphism of order 16 in full generality. We show that the fixed locus contains only rational curves and points and we completely classify the seven possible configurations. If the Picard group has rank 6, there are two possibilities and if its rank is 14, there are five possibilities. In particular if the action of the automorphism is trivial on the Picard group, then we show that its rank is six.
In this paper, the method of analyzing mobility of the mechanisms is suggested. The method based on the joint screws provides accurate values of mobility of the mechanisms even with the lack of geometric generality. To show its validity, the method is applied to finding mobilities of planar mobile robots and a rough-terrain mobile robot, Mars Rover. To do so, simplified joint model for each of four different typical wheels of the mobile robots are described including friction velocities, firstly. Then, mobility analyses of planar mobile robots and the Mars Rover mobile robot for navigation on the rocky road on Mars are performed. It is confirmed that the obtained results in this study coincide with the previous ones which ...

The nonlinear thermal buckling load parameter of the laminated composite panel structure is investigated numerically using the higher-order theory including the stretching effect through the thickness and presented in this research article. The large geometrical distortion of the curved panel structure due to the elevated thermal loading is modeled via Green-Lagrange strain field including all of the higher-order terms to achieve the required generality. The desired solutions are obtained numerically using the finite element steps in conjunction with the direct iterative method. The concurrence of the present nonlinear panel model has been established via adequate comparison study with available published data. Finally, the effect of different influential parameters which affect the nonlinear buckling strength of laminated composite structure are examined through numerous numerical examples and discussed in details.
The reaction of potassium trialkoxyborohydrides of varying steric requirements with lithium chloride in tetrahydrofuran(THF) was examined in detail to establish the generality of this synthesis of the corresponding lithium trialkoxyborohydrides. The metal ion exchange reaction between potassium triisopropoxyborohydride and lithium chloride in THF proceeded instantly at room temperature and the corresponding lithium salt was very stable toward disproportionation. However, for R = s-Bu, t-Bu and 2-methylcyclohexyl, with increasing steric requirement, the lithium derivatives were unstable and thus dissociated into $(RO)BH_3^-\;and\; (RO)_4B^-$. The stereoselectivity of lithium triisopropoxyborohydride(LIPBH) in the reduction of representative cyclic ketones was examined and compared with that of the potassium derivative.
In this paper, we adopted a two-dimensional analytical electro-elastic model to predict the stress distributions of the piezoelectric actuator in 3D case. The actuator was embedded in an elastic host structure under electrical loadings. The problem is reduced to the solution of singular integral equations of the first kind. The interfacial stresses and the axial normal stress in both plane stress state and plane strain state were obtained to study the actuation effects being transferred from the actuator to the host. The stress distributions of the PZT actuator in different length and different thickness were analyzed to guarantee the generality. The validity of the present model has been demonstrated by application of specific examples and comparisons with the corresponding results obtained from the Finite Element Method.
Based on continuum mechanics and the principle of virtual displacements, incremental total Lagrangian formulation (T.L.) and incremental updated Lagrangian formulation (U.L.) were presented. Both T.L. and U.L. considered the large displacement stiffness matrix, which was modified to be symmetrical matrix. According to the incremental updated Lagrangian formulation, small strain, large displacement, finite rotation of three dimensional Timoshenko fiber beam element tangent stiffness matrix was developed. Considering large displacement and finite rotation, a new type of tangent stiffness matrix of the beam element was developed. According to the basic assumption of plane section, the displacement field of an arbitrary fiber was presented in terms of nodal displacement of centroid of cross-area. In addition, shear deformation effect was taken account. Furthermore, a nonlinear finite element method program has been developed and several examples were tested to demonstrate the accuracy and generality of the three dimensional beam element.
Let M be a finitely generated module over a regular local ring (R, n). We will fix an n-stable filtration for M and show that the minimal free resolution of M can be obtained from any filtered free resolution of M by zero and negative consecutive cancellations. This result is analogous to [10, Theorem 3.1] in the more general context of filtered free resolutions. Taking advantage of this generality, we will study resolutions obtained by the mapping cone technique and find a sufficient condition for the minimality of such resolutions. Next, we give another application in the graded setting. We show that for a monomial order ${\sigma}$, Betti numbers of I are obtained from those of $LT_{\sigma}(I)$ by so-called zero ${\sigma}$-consecutive cancellations. This provides a stronger version of the well-known cancellation "cancellation principle" between the resolution of a graded ideal and that of its leading term ideal, in terms of filtrations defined by monomial orders.
This paper explores the analytical buckling solution of rectangular thin plates by the finite integral transform method. Although several analytical and numerical developments have been made, a benchmark analytical solution is still very few due to the mathematical complexity of solving high order partial differential equations. In solution procedure, the governing high order partial differential equation with specified boundary conditions is converted into a system of linear algebraic equations and the analytical solution is obtained classically. The primary advantage of the present method is its simplicity and generality and does not need to pre-determine the deflection function which makes the solving procedure much reasonable. Another advantage of the method is that the analytical solutions obtained converge rapidly due to utilization of the sum functions. The application of the method is extensive and can also handle moderately thick and thick elastic plates as well as bending and vibration problems. The present results are validated by extensive numerical comparison with the FEA using (ABAQUS) software and the existing analytical solutions which show satisfactory agreement.
By virtue of the characteristics inherent in diagrams, diagrammatic reasoning has potential and limitations that distinguish it from general thinking. It is natural that diagrams rarely appeared in Joseon mathematical books, which were heavily focused on computation and algebra in content, and preferred linguistic expressions in form. However, as the late Joseon Dynasty unfolded, there emerged a noticeable increase in the frequency of employing diagrams, due to the educational purposes to facilitate explanations and the influence of Western mathematics. Analyzing the role of diagrams included in Jo Taegu's 'JuseoGwangyeon', an exemplary book, this study includes discussions on the utilization of diagrams from the perspective of mathematics education, based on the findings of the analysis.
