Purpose : The purpose of this study is to analyze the elements that affect the energy consumption of general hospitals in Korea. Methods : Factors affecting energy consumption in general hospitals include facility elements and operating elements. The effects of these elements on energy consumption of general hospitals were analyzed by statistical methods such as t-test, anova, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Results : Total floor area, number of operating rooms, number of MRI, number of staffs, and number of outpatients can be said as useful variables that can explain energy consumption in general hospitals. Implication : It is possible to save energy consumption in general hospitals by adjusting major variables that affect the energy consumption of general hospitals.

The occurrence of hiatal hernia after total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction is rare. We report the case of a 76-year-old man who presented with dyspnea, vomiting, and fever around 8 days after total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y reconstruction. Abdominal computed tomography revealed a hiatal hernia containing part of the small intestine in the left thoracic cavity. Emergent reduction and repair of the hiatal hernia were performed later. Operative findings revealed that the Roux limb was incarcerated in the left pleural cavity. Esophagojejunostomy leakage, perforation of the small intestine with transient ischemic change, and pyothorax were also found. Thus, feeding jejunostomy, thoracoscopic decortication, and diversion T-tube esophagostomy were performed. Considering that the main cause of hiatal hernia is blunt dissection with division of the phrenoesophageal membrane, approximating the crus with 1 or 2 figure-8 sutures, according to the size of the defect, to prevent the incidence of hiatal hernia after total gastrectomy may be performed.

There have been few reports on extra-enteric infections by Blastocystis STs and none have been molecularly identified in samples from human reproductive organs. We report for the first time the identification of 3 different subtypes of Blastocystis (ST1-3) in vaginal and sperm samples, from patients infected with Trichomonas vaginalis. Blastocystis STs were identified by PCR-sequencing and by phylogenetic inferences using 28 vaginal swab samples and 7 sperm samples from patients trichomoniasis. Blastocystis STs were identified in 6 of 28 vaginal swabs (21.4%) and in 3 of 7 sperm samples (42.8%). In both biological samples, STs 1-3 were found; one vaginal sample showed subtype co-infection with ST1 and ST3. High genetic variation was observed in the sequences obtained and no specific clustering in the phylogenetic trees was detected. Most of the haplotypes identified were placed far from the main dispersal centers. Our finding suggested that incorrect cleaning of the genital area or a contamination by combination of anal and vaginal intercourse.

Let g(2n, l, d) be the number of general cubic graphs on 2n labeled vertices with l loops and d double edges. We use inclusion and exclusion with two types of properties to determine the asymptotic behavior of g(2n, l, d) and hence that of g(2n), the total number of general cubic graphs of order 2n. We show that almost all general cubic graphs are connected. Moreover, we determined the asymptotic numbers of general cubic graphs with given connectivity.

Flexible electronics devices such as plastic display, thin film battery, membrane switch, organic memory for smart card applications will be presented. The performance and power consumption of various display technologies will be compared for OTP requirement in smart cards. Wireless power transmission by RF coupling through an antenna provides a potential power solution to smart cards. Finally, the general trend of smart card future developments will be discussed.
