  • A preliminary design process in the multi-stage gear drives design is important part. a preliminary design support system which run efficiently the design is developed with fuzzy expert system. the system automatically generate the mechanism of multi-stats gear drives and select a candidate mechanism by the general expert rule and sorting using fuzzy expert system. the preliminary mechanism design of multi-stage gear drives have a short execution time, add accuracy in a preliminary design considering volume, cost, power and efficiency in preliminary, a design efficiency is increased and a preliminary design have a elasticity using a weight on variable's sorting mechanism.

  • This paper reviews the existing methods to divide the gear ratios of a multi-stage gear train, and proposes a simulated annealing-based algorithm to find the best gear ratios. The existing methods have their own limitations to be used in practical design, and are also problematic to be automated in a design system. However, the proposed algorithm is a general one which can be applied to gear trains having any number of stages, and offers a satisfactory result in a very short time. It is expected to be useful as a design sub-module of the design system for multi-stage gear drives.

  • In this study, we develop automatic design program, which create 3D model of spur gear and helical gear used VisualLISP and create helical gear in the CATIA using 2D profile of gear. This model become the standard models which give not only in itself mold information but also compare processed product with measuring date. Spur gear require mathematical examination of involute curve and trocoidal fillet curve. Automatic design program, which have a mathematical development create the profile of spur gear.

  • The small gear reductioner noise is caused by gear accuracy, assembling errors, and gear backlash. This main study is an investigation on noise quality of the small gear reductioner through the change of gear backlash. In this study included Gear design parameters related the small gear reductioner, the knowledge of rattle noise related gear backlash, and the experimentation results of the small reductioner noise through change of gear backlash. At last, this study propose the least method of the small gear reductioner noise that is caused by suitable existence of gear backlash.

  • This paper proposes an efficient mechanism design system of multi-stage gear drives including not only parallel shaft gears but also non-parallel gears such as bevel and worm gear drives. The system automatically generates three dimensional structures of specification-adjusted mechanisms, and shows the sorted list of the mechanisms according to the evaluation result by using a fuzzy expert system. The list can be used as reliable candidates of the spatial mechanism structures of multi-stage gear drives. Thus, it is expected that the system can increase the efficiency of design and cut off the expenses of preliminary design considerably.

  • The design of multi-stage gear drives is a time-consuming process because it includes more complicated problems, which are not considered in the design of single-stage gear drives. The designer has no determine the number of reduction stages and the gear ratios of each reduction stage. In addition, the design problems include not only dimensional design but also configuration design of gear drive elements. There is no definite rule or principle for these types of design problems. Thus the design practices largely depend on the sense and the experiences of the designer, and consequently result in undesirable design solution. A new and generalized design algorithm has been proposed to support the designer at the preliminary phase of the design of multi-stage gear drives. The proposed design algorithm automates the design process by integrating the dimensional design and the configuration design process. The algorithm consists of four steps. In the first step, the user determines the number of reduction stages. In the second step, gear ratios of every stage are chosen using the random search method. The values of the basic design parameters of a gear are chose in the third step by using the generate and test method. Then the values of the dimensions, such as pitch diameter, outer diameter and face width, are calculated for the configuration design in the next step. The strength and durability of each gear is guaranteed by the bending strength and the pitting resistance rating practices by using AGMA rating formulas. In the final step, the configuration design is carried out using simulated annealing algorithm. The positions of gears and shafts are determined to minimize the geometrical volume (size) of a gearbox while avoiding interferences between them. These steps are carried out iteratively until a desirable solution is acquired. The proposed design algorithm is applied to the preliminary design of four-stage gear drives in order to validate the availability. The design solution has considerably good results in both aspects of the dimensional and the configuration design.

치차 장치를 위한 공차 설계 시스템 개발 (Development of the Tolerance Design System for a Gear Drive)

  • When designing a gear drive, designers should specify tolerances reasonably considering accuracy, cost, and manufacturing capability. In field design, however, designers mostly assign adequate tolerance without correlations between parts and assembly, resulting in iterative design dependent on experts know-how. In order to resolve this, the tolerance design system for a cylindrical gear drive is developed both to support tolerance design automation and to synthesize design processes of part and assembly tolerances. In this research, part tolerances are designed with the databases constructed by ISO, Ks, JIS and bearing catalogue, Assemble tolerance, that is, backlash tolerance is designed by synthesizing part design tolerances stochastically using the formulated assembly relations. This system can include part tolerance and fitting accuracy of shaft adn bearing in practical design. In addition, this system provides field-designers with a synthetic guideline for tolerance design of a gear drive.

  • Gears are essential and useful elements which power is transmitted from a source to a driven equipment. Therefore, it is very important to design gears correctly. Two important points in the gear design procedures are capacities of the gears's bending strength and pitting resistance. This paper deals with two subjects about spur and helical gears : analyzing for strength and wear capacities, and design of face width. Also, this paper proposes the analytical program which is developed for computer aided design and analysis This program is based on the American Gear Manufactures Association(AGMA) Standards.

  • In this paper, we developed an automated program for the design and machining of spiroid bevel gear. A computer program employing the theory of gearing between gear and pinion is developed to design gear mechanism. A new method for machining spiro야 bevel gears is proposed, and effectively used for an example.

  • After investigating repeatedly results obtained through gear stress analysis, we make a determination of an optimal gear shape. But its design process was not only complex but also difficult to get a precise profile curve from operating by hand. In this study, relating shape of gear profile curves was generated automatically with standard spur gear, equivalent helical gear, shifted gear & pinion by using developed program which is using Auto_LISP language in Auto-CAD. This program which can design rapidly gear shapes will successfully support gear designing and manufacturing fur Small & Medium companies.
