Study on the Luminescence of Si Nanocrystallites on Si Substrate Fabricated by Changing the Wavelength of Pulsed laser deposition (펄스레이저 증착법의 레이저 파장변환에 의한 실리콘 나노결정의 발광특성 연구)

  • Si nanocrstallites on p-tyre (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser with the wavelength of 355, 532 and 1064 nm. The base vacuum in the chamber was down to $10^{-5}$ Torr and the pressure of the gas during deposition was varied from 1 to 3 Torr. After deposition, Si nanocrystallites have been annealed at $N_2$ gas. Nitrogen have been used as ambient gases. Strong blue and green luminescence from Si nanocrystallites has been observed in room temperature by photoluminescence and its peak energies shift to green when the wavelength is increased from 355-1064 nm

  • A single crystal Mn-Zn ferrite was directly etched by focused $Ar^+$ laser beam in $CCl_2F_2$ gas atmosphere. AES has been performed for locally investigating the surface composition of an etched layer. MnCl, ZnCl being created after the substrate and $CCl_2F_2$ chemically reacting was remained in the vicinity of laser irradiation area because of their low vapor pressure. Various patterns using computer were formed on the substrate. The etched grooves and patterned shapes were observed by SEM measurement.

  • Welding characteristics of STS304 stainless steel and Inconel 600 using a continuous wave Nd:YAG laser are experimentally investigated. Alloy 600 being used in steam generator tubing of pressurized water reactor(PWR) exposed to some corrosion environment, stress corrosion cracking can occur on this material. Presented here are the results from a series of experiments in which dissimilar metal welds were made using the gas tungsten arc welding process with pure argon shielding gas. But It is well known that solidification cracking susceptibility of austenitic alloys depends on the solidification temperature range and amount/distribution of solute rich liquid that exists at the terminal stages of solidification. An experimental study was conducted to determine effects of welding parameters and to optimize those parameters that have the most influence on eliminating or reducing the extent welding zone formation at dissimilar metal welds.

  • The effect of intermolecular collisions in the infrared multiphoton dissociation (IRMPD) of difluorochloromethane was investigated using He, Ar, and $N_2$ as buffer gases. The reaction probability for IRMPD of difluorochloromethane was measured as a function of laser fluence and the buffer gas pressure under unfocused beam geometry. It was observed that the reaction probability was initially enhanced with the increase of buffer gas pressure up to about 20 torr, but showed a decline at higher pressures. The reaction probability increases monotonically with the laser fluence, but the rate of increase diminishes at higher fluences. An attempt was made to simulate the experimental results by the method of energy grained master equation (EGME). From the parameters that fit the experimental data, the average energy loss per collision, $<{\Delta}E>_d$, was estimated for the He, Ar, and $N_2$ buffer gases.

  • Infrared multiphoton decompositions (IRMPD) of $BrCH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2Cl$ were studied by using the pulsed $CO_2$laser. At 0.3 J laser energy the experimentally observed product ratios could be reasonably explained by the RRKM calculation with initial excitation energy of ca. 80 Kcal/mol. The pressure dependence of product yields led us to conclude that the collisional deactivation by the inert gas decreased the yield of low energy dissociation channel more significantly.

  • RGB laser 를 이용하여 rf-magnetron sputtering 법으로 합성한 a-IGZO 박막의 photoresponse 를 관찰하였다. Air 분위기에서 red 파장을 조사 할 경우 비교적 slow recovery 특성을 보였으며, green 과 blue 파장을 조사 할 경우 red 보다 fast recovery 특성을 나타내었다. 그러나 진공에서 측정할 경우, red 파장에서는 recovery 가 빨라졌으며, green 과 blue 파장의 경우 recovery 가 매우 느려짐을 확인하였다. 이는 passivation 을 하지 않은 소자의 oxygen gas 의 흡/탈착 때문으로 예상할 수 있었으며, red 파장이 gas 탈착에 기여하는 정도가 매우 작고, green 과 blue 파장이 gas 탈착에 기여하는 정도가 매우 크기 때문인 것으로 생각할 수 있었다. 온도를 증가시킬 경우, 모든 경우에서 recovery 가 빠르게 나타났는데 이는 흡/탈착에 필요한 barrier 및 $V_o{^{2+}}$에서 Vo 로 돌아오기 위한 barrier 를 쉽게 넘어갈 수 있기 때문으로 이해 할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 stretched exponential equation 을 이용하여 해석하였으며 수치화 하였다.

  • Cutting by a high speed laser cutting machine is one of most effective technologies to improve productivity. This paper has presented the cutting characteristics and optimal cutting conditions in a high speed feeding type laser cutting machine by using Tacuchi method in the design of experiment. An L9(34) orthogonal array is adopted to study the effect of adjustment parameters. The adjustment parameters consist of cutting speed, laser power, laser output duty and assistant gas pressure. The surface roughness of sheet metal is regarded as a quality feature. Analysis of variance is performed in order to evaluate the effect of adjustment parameters on the quality feature of laser cutting process.

  • Diode laser absorption system is advantageous of their non-invasive nature, fast response time, high sensitivity and real-time measurement capability. Furthermore, recent advances in room-temperature, near-IR and visible diode laser sources for telecommunication, optical data storage applications are enabling combustion diagnostics system based on diode laser absorption spectroscopy. So, combined with fiber-optics and high sensitive detection strategies, compact and portable sensor system are now appearing for a variety of applications. The objective of this research is to take advantage of distributed feed-back diode laser and develope new gas sensing system. It experimentally found out that the wavelength, power characteristics as a function of injection current and temperature. In addition to direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy have been demonstrated in these experiments and have a bright prospect to this diode laser system.

  • Silicon nanocrystalline thin films on p-type (100) silicon substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser with the wavelength of 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The base vacuum in the chamber was down to $10^-6$ Torr and the laser energy densities were 1.0~3.0 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ After deposition, silicon nanocrystalline thin films have been annealed at nitrogen gas. Strong Blue and green luminescence from silicon nanocrystalline thin films have been observed at room temperature by photoluminescence and its peak energies shift to green when the wavelength is increased from 355 to 1064 nm.

  • A high speed feeding type laser cutting M/C is developed for precise cutting of sheet metal. This paper has been carried out to obtain cutting characteristics and optimal cutting conditions of the developed high speed feeding type laser cutting M/C by a design of experiments. Cutting speed. laser power. laser duty and gas pressure are control factors for the surface roughness. The major factors affecting the surface roughness and the optimum cutting conditions are studied with minimum experiments using Taguchi method.
