The orientational cross-over phenomena in an RF sputtering growth of TiN films were studied in an in-situ, real-time synchrotron x-ray scattering experiment. For the films grown with pure Ar sputtering gas, the cross-over from the more strained (002)-oriented grains to the less strained (111)-oriented grains occurred as the film thickness was increased. As the sputtering power was increased, the cross-over thickness, at which the growth orientation changes from the <002> to the <111> direction, was decreased. The addition of $N_2$ besides Ar as sputtering gas suppressed the cross-over, and consequently resulted in the (002) preferred orientation without exhibiting the cross-over. We attribute the observed cross-over phenomena to the competition between the surface and the strain energy. The x-ray powder diffraction, the x-ray reflectivity, and the ex-situ AFM surface topology study consistently suggest that the microscopic growth front was in fact always the (002) planes. In the initial stage of growth, the (002) planes were aligned to the substrate surface to minimize the surface energy. At later stages, however, the (002) growth front tilted away from the surface by about $60^{\circ}$ to relax the strain, which caused the cross-over of the preferred growth direction to the <111> direction.

The electron drift velocity W and the product of the longitudinal diffusion coefficient and the gas number density $ND_{L}$ in the $0.525\;\%$ and $5.05\;\%$$C_{3}F_8-Ar$ mixtures were measured by using the double shutter drift tube with variable drift distance over the E/N range from 0.03 to 100 Td and gas pressure range from 1 to 915 torr. And we determined the electron collision cross sections set for the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule by STEP 1 of electron swarm method using a multi-term Boltzmann equation analysis. Our special attention in the present study was focused upon the vibrational excitation and new excitations cross sections of the $C_{3}F_8$ molecule.

The objective of this study is the development of size discrete optimum design algorithm which is based on the GAs(genetic algorithms). The algorithm can perform size discrete optimum designs of space trusses. The developed algorithm was implemented in a computer program. For the optimum design, the objective function is the weight of space trusses and the constraints are limite state design codes(1998) and displacements. The basic search method for the optimum design is the GAs. The algorithm is known to be very efficient for the discrete optimization. This study solves the problem by introducing the GAs. The GAs consists of genetic process and evolutionary process. The genetic process selects the next design points based on the survivability of the current design points. The evolutionary process evaluates the survivability of the design points selected from the genetic process. In the genetic process of the simple GAs, there are three basic operators: reproduction, cross-over, and mutation operators. The efficiency and validity of the developed discrete optimum design algorithm was verified by applying GAs to optimum design examples.

We measured the electron drift velocity, W, in 0.5% $SF_6-Ar$ mixture over the E/N range from 30 Td to 300 Td and gas pressure range from 0.1 to 0.5 Torr by the double shutter drift tube with a variable drift distance, and calculated over the same E/N and gas pressure range by using the two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation. The measured and calculated values at different gas pressure at each E/N was appreciable dependence in the results on the gas pressure.
Hydrodynamic characteristics such as gas holdup, liquid circulation velocity and bed expansion in a hexagonal inverse fluidized bed were investigated using air-water system by changing the ratio ($A_d$/$A_r$) of cross-sectional area between the riser and the downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), and the superficial gas velocity($U_g$). The gas holdup and the liquid circulation velocity were steadily increased with the superficial gas velocity increasing, but at high superficial gas velocity, some of gas bubbles were carried over to a downcomer and circulated through the column. When the superficial gas velocity was high, the $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio in the range of 1 to 2.4 did not affect the liquid circulation velocity, but the maximum bed expansion was obtained at $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio of 1.25. The liquid circulation velocity was expressed as a model equation below with variables of the cross-sectional area ratio($A_d$/$A_r$) between riser to downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), the superficial gas velocity($U_g$), the sparser height[(H-$H_s$)/H], and the draft Plate level($H_b$/H). $U_{ld}$ = 11.62U_g^{0.75}$${(\frac{H_1}{H})}^{10.30}$${(\frac{A_d}{A_r})}^{-0.52}$${(\frac({H-H_s}{H})}^{0.91}$${(\frac{H_b}{H})}^{0.13}$
The electron transport coefficients in argon gas is studied over the range of E/N values from 85 to 566 Td by the Monte Carlo method considering the latest cross section data. The result of the Monte Carlo method analysis shows that the value of the electron transport coefficients such as the electron drift velocity, the ratio of the longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients to the mobility. It is also found that the electron transport coefficients calculated by the two-term approximation analysis agree well with those by Monte Carlo calculation. The electron energy distributions function were analysed in argon at E/N=283, and 566 Td for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy. A momentum transfer cross section for the argon atom which was consistent with both of the present electron transport coefficients was derived over the range of mean electron energy from 10.3 to 14.5 eV, also suggested as a set of electron cross section for argon atom. The validity of the results obtained has been confirmed by a Monte Carlo simulation method.

Energy distribution function for electrons in SF6-Ar mixtures gas used by MCS-BEq algorithm has been analysed over the E/N range 30~300[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] $SF_6-Ar$ mixtures were measured by time-of-flight(TOF) method, The results show that the deduced longitudinal diffusion coefficients and transverse diffusion coefficients agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values. The results obtained from Boltzmann equation method and Monte Carlo simulation have been compared with present and previously obtained data and respective set of electron collision cross sections of the molecules.
Purpose: Salivation is considered to be an important factor in the control of halitosis, and the amount of salivation has been shown to be closely related to the level of hydration. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the relationship between dehydration and halitosis. Methods: Twenty healthy young females with no dental problems were recruited. All participants were induced to become dehydrated and then over-hydrated. After inducing each hydration state, the severity of hydration and halitosis factor (organoleptic scores, amounts of resting and functional saliva, gas examinations, and tongue coatings) were measured. Hydration statuses were graded as dehydration, normal, or over-hydration according to urine osmolality. This was a cross sectional study with a cross over design. Results: The dehydrated status was associated with higher organoleptic scores than the normal or over-hydrated status (1.75±0.75 vs. 0.87±0.63, and 0.65±0.53, respectively. p<0.05). Mean values of CH3SH, (CH3)2S in portable gas chromatography for the dehydrated, normal, and over-hydrated status were 11.70±37.00, 6.75±13.50, and 2.80±5.87 nmol/mol, 10.50±15.59, 7.25±10.87, and 1.50±2.55 nmol/mol, respectively. p>0.05). (CH3)2S (r=0.410, p=0.009) showed a moderate positive correlation with dehydration status. The resting salivation rates were relatively lower for the dehydrated status than for the normal or overhydrated status (p>0.05), and tongue coating results were also higher for the dehydrated status (p>0.05). Conclusions: Dehydration status appears to be positively correlated with a low resting salivation rate and high portable gas chromatography results. This shows that dehydration might be an etiologic factor of halitosis.

Energy distribution function for electrons in $SF_6$-Ar mixtures gas used by MCS-BEq algorithm has been analysed over the E/N range $30{\sim}300[Td]$ by a two term Boltzmann equation and by a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2(%) and 0.5(%) $SF_6$-Ar mixtures were measured by time-of-flight(TOF) method, The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, Electrons Drift Velocities for a rang of E/N values. As a consequence, it was known that the spatial growth rates and the dielectric behaviors in $SF_6$-Ar mixtures are strongly dependent on the addition rate of $SF_6$ gas but the transport coefficients of electrons are insensitive to the addition rate of $SF_6$ gas. The results obtained from Boltzmann equation method and Monte Carlo simulation have been compared with present and previously obtained data and respective set of electron collision cross sections of the molecules.
