다단 연소 버너의 보일러 연소실에서의 연소 특성 (Combustion Characteristics of a Staged Burner for a Boiler)

  • The demand for a boiler with low NOx burner is increasing with the recent strict NOx regulation. Staged burner is a common low NOx burner to suppress the formation of thermal NOx by yielding local fuel rich and fuel lean condition. The staged burner gives fire with bigger frontal area and length compared with a conventional burner, which changes heat transfer characteristics in the combustion chamber. The heat transfer and exhaust gas characteristics has been studied in the present study for a 0.5 t/h class furnace type boiler adopting the staged burner. A numerical simulation has been conducted to clarify the detailed physics inside the combustion chamber.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a new oil combustion technology concerning industrial furnaces and kilns, not only to save energy but also to reduce environmental emissions. Of many kinds of such technologies we chose the high temperature air combustion technology which was initiated by the British steel company in '80s and developed further by the American burner company "North American". In this study it was carried out to test regenerative burner experimentally and to have an applicability to industry. From the variation of configuration of gas nozzle and hot test on the temperature distribution and NOx, it was found out that the reduction of NOx was due to the effect of internal gas recirculation, which will be caused by air emitting velocity from burner nozzle.

산업 보일러용 오일버너에서의 저 NOx 연소 연구 (A Study on Low-NOx Combustion in an Oil Burner for an Industrial Boiler)

  • A novel low NOx oil burner of 0.7 MW (for a 1 ton steam/hr industrial boiler) was designed and tested to investigate the combustion characteristics through in-flame measurement and flue gas analysis. Flame shape was observed by CCD camera and $CH^*/{C_2}^*$ radical distribution in the flame were observed, along with measurement of flue gas composition such as NOx and CO, for various heat inputs, excess airs and pressure of the fuel spary nozzles. The flame showed the two-zone structure: fuel-rich and fuel-lean zone, which was very favorable for the low-NOx combustion, and the NOx emission for haevy oil combustion was significantly reduced to < 150 ppm at 4 % $O_2$, compared with the NOx level of a conventional heavy oil burner.

  • In this study, the combustion characteristics were investigated with the variation of design factors on multiple slit gas burner. The design factors consist of slit height, width, spacing, and inner length. The combustion characteristics were made analysis of the CO emission and NOx emission by using CO analyzer and NOx analyzer. The lower perimeter to area and the narrow spacing extends the lift-flame limit. The CO emission increases with the increasing perimeter to area ratio at the same condition. The NOx emission is found to be less significant with the port perimeter to area ratio. The flame interference might highly depend on the spacing and port perimeter to area ratio, and it also affects the burner performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the NOx emission of turbulent diffusion flame formed in the after burner, which is located on the waste gas coming out from the test furnace. Three types of flame was tested and each of which was changed by adequate equivalence ratio. It is necessary to study more about NOx reduction effect in the after burner system.

  • A novel oxy-fuel burner for a boiler has been devised and composed into a 50 kW class boiler system. A series of test has been conducted to show the characteristics of combustion, exhaust gas and the boiler. Numerical simulations have been also performed and validated against the experimental data to discuss detailed physics. The oxy-fuel burner can effectively heat the combustion chamber with the significantly reduced combustion gas, which enables to realize the compactness of the system. The composition of exhaust gas reveals that the sealing of the system is crucial to achieve high $CO_2$ concentration and low $NO_X$ emission.

  • The swirling flow fields of a gun-type gas burner(GTGB) without a combustion chamber were measured by a straight-type five-hole pressure probe(FHPP) under the cold flow condition. The three kinds of velocity components and the static pressure were calculated by using a non-nulling calibration method covering the velocity reduction performance of the effective flow attack angle of ${\pm}80^{\circ}$. As a result, the velocity and static pressure measured by a FHPP comparatively shows the better performance on the swirling flow of a GTGB than those measured by X-probe.

  • The conventional regenerative system has a high thermal efficiency as well as energy saving using the high preheated combustion air. in spite of these advantages, it can not avoid high nitric oxide emissions. Recently, flameless combustion has received much attention to solve these problems. In this research, numerical analysis is performed for flow-combustion phenomena in the self regenerative burner. In this analysis we used Fluent 6.0 code. the that is developed for commercial use, Methane gas is used as a fuel and two-step reaction model for methane and Zeldovich mechanism for NO generation are used. the velocity of the preheated combustion air is used as a parameter and we analyze the characteristics of flow-field, temperature distributions and NO emissions. Due to the increased recirculation rate, the maximum temperature of flame is significantly increased and NOx emissions is reduced.

  • We designed and developed the burner which would be adapted on the burner type diesel particulate trap system. The burner type particulate trap system consists of burner system to regenerate to ceramic filter, ceramic filter canister, system controller and etc. Many design factors which affect the performance of the burner system were discussed. We also investigated burner characteristics according to the operating parameters. Burned gas temperature could be controlled better by the 2nd air flow rate than the 1st one. As the space velocity increases, the axial and radial temperature gradients in the filter decreases.
