  • Analyzing the aspects of pattern in MMORPG that has been leading our domestic game industry to the climax, our game industry might be thought to orient the space narrative storytelling method containing the leading life in the virtual sociality to the nature of society. It is essential to have the convergence and linkage between media in describing the lifestyle in the virtual society, which should be operated in a very flexible manner. It is, however, true that we are lacking of the quantification of designing process until now, although the designing process should have the vivid academic functions between media in advance. In addition, the designing crossing over the MMORPG genre along with the game patterns in the MMORPG genre has close correlations with the spectrum of crises emerging recently in our domestic online game industry. In other words, this essay aims at raising an issue that the selective method to the lifestyle in the virtual society being settled down as characteristics inherent to the methods of our domestic online games might deliver the improving effects through the establishment of game designing jobs and compliant plans.

  • The evolution of technology has lead gaming playable in augmented reality and more games are developed only for augmented reality. There are mainly no supportive reasons for game designed in non-augmented reality and transforms to augmented reality. Genre of game played in augmented reality is always one of the defined game genres. In this paper, transformation process and effects of mobile games to augmented reality is discussed. Augmented reality game is recommended for mobile devices due to its portability. Modification for mobile games transformation including way of game rendering, game controlling, camera view controlling and game environment design are discussed. User experience is affected after the game transformed to augmented reality because of the differences in game controlling. The presence of game in real world is increased due to the usage of actual view in game playing.

  • In this paper, the horror game is defined as a game that is aimed at causing fear reactions to user. And this paper analyzed narrative elements for studying what causes fear reactions beyond the existing experimental study. This analysis is significant at the point of determining narrative principles in the horror game. So this paper has extracted horror elements from gothic horror novels that established as the 'horror' genre and has considered how these horror elements would be transformed actually in the horror game. So it analyzes how the space and narrative elements as the distinctive characteristics of game are transformed centrally in the case of the 'Silent hill' series(published by Konami Corporation). Furthermore this study will be expected to be a help for clarifying not only the horror game as a peculiar genre but also the relationship between the space and narrative elements in the game.

  • MMORPG genre is based on the belief that all users in virtual world are equal. All users are able to obtain the corresponding wealth or status as they strive under the same resource, time. However, game bot is the main factor for harming this fair competition, causing benign gamers to feel a relative deprivation and deviate from the game. Game bots mainly form GFG(Gold Farming Group), which collects the goods in the game indiscriminately and adversely affects the economic system of the game. A general game bot detection algorithm is useful for detecting each bot, but it only covers few portions of GFG, not the whole, so it needs a wider range of detecting method. In this paper, we propose a method of detecting GFG based on items used in MMORPG genre. Several items that are mainly traded in the game were selected and the flows of those items were represented by a network. We Identified the characteristics of exchanging items of GFG bots and can identify the GFG's item trade network with real datasets from one of the popular online games.

  • Games of the AOS genre are classified as an e-sport rather than a recreational computer game. The involved statistical analyses such as game playing patterns and the season's characters gain importance due to the expertise-requiring nature of sports. In this study, the strategic analysis of computer games was conducted by using data mining techniques on League of Legend, a representative AOS game. We designed and tested a winning forecast model using winning percentage prediction techniques such as logistic regression analysis, discriminant analysis, and artificial neural networks. The game data analysis results were represented by a probabilistic graph and used in the visualization tool for game play. Experimental results of the winning forecast model showed a high classification rate of 95% on average with potential for use in establishing various strategies for game play with the visualization tool.

  • A new field of e-sports gains the great popularity in Korea as well as abroad. AOS (aeon of strife) genre games are quickly gaining popularity with gamers from all over the world and the game companies hold game competitions. The e-sports broadcasting teams and webzines use a variety of statistical indicators. In this paper, as an AOS genre game, League of Legends game data is used for statistical analysis using the indicators to predict the outcome. We develop new indicators with the factor analysis to improve existing indicators. Also we consider discriminant function, neural network model, and SVM (support vector machine) for make winning forecasting models. As a result, the new position indicators reflect the nature of the role in the game and winning forecasting models show more than 95 percent accuracy.

  • A game story that used to be free needs a work of concrete and artificial organizing and arranging these days. This is because a game story is frequently made into a new genre such as a movie or an animation. As shown in many previous studies, most of the movies made from successful digital games failed to receive satisfying box office results. To overcome this, narratively completed storytelling should be presented from the development phase of a game. The methods are as follows: It is necessary to maximize the synergy effect through the interaction between storytelling experts, game developers, animators, and movie producers in developing a game. This will help to create a game with more sophisticated and complete narrative structure than now. It is necessary to secure the diversification of game genres. Currently in Korea, online games are unusually leading the game industry. PC games or console games are more advantageous than online games for putting a finished narrative structure into a game.

In the previous games, simple structures are used to express emotion. By increasing the user's needs of emotion in the game, it is necessary to structure a various type of emotion. In this paper, the game components were classified as background, object, and character in order to analyze emotion structurally in game. We defined how to use the rule of emotion, and applied to League of legend, Cyphers and World of Warcraft which belong to the AOS genre. The AOS game is well-suited for analyzing emotion structure, because a various emotional changes and situations can arise in the game. Through this paper, it was discovered similarities emotion to be used in online games. It is expected to generalize the emotion in the game by analyzing the emotional structure of more games in future.

  • The objective of this study is to find out how reality game shows, the relatively new television genre, produce a sense of reality and what differences we can find from the reality they produce in compared to that of traditional reality television shows. The researchers anaylized , aired in 2013and 2014 by tvN, with focus on the show's studio setting and characters in the show. During this process, the 'game elements' and 'reality factor' were considered to be the key words. Finally, the reality produces was examined from two aspects: the production and reception. As a result, we found that the reality it produces is more than just a imitation of the real world. It shuttles between the game world and real world, and encourages audiences to recognize the plural realities in our postmodern society. We hope this study stimulates further researches on reality game show genre, which had rarely gained academic attention.
