Datamining: Roadmap to Extract Inference Rules and Design Data Models from Process Data of Industrial Applications

  • The objectives of this study were to introduce the easiest and most proper applications of datamining in industrial processes. Applying datamining in manufacturing is very different from applying it in marketing. Misapplication of datamining in manufacturing system results in significant problems. Therefore, it is very important to determine the best procedure and technique in advance. In previous studies, related literature has been introduced, but there has not been much description of datamining applications. Research has not often referred to descriptions of particular examples dealing with application problems in manufacturing. In this study, a datamining roadmap was proposed to support datamining applications for industrial processes. The roadmap was classified into three stages, and each stage was categorized into reasonable classes according to the datamining purposed. Each category includes representative techniques for datamining that have been broadly applied over decades. Those techniques differ according to developers and application purposes; however, in this paper, exemplary methods are described. Based on the datamining roadmap, nonexperts can determine procedures and techniques for datamining in their applications.

  • If an error occurs in the automatic mode when the advanced teleoperator system performs a task in hostile environment then the automatic mode changes into the manual mode. The operation by the control program and the operation by a human recover the error in the manual mode. The system resumes the automatic mode and continues the given task. It is necessary to improve the manual mode in order to make the best use of a man-robot system, as a part of the human interface technique. Therefore, the error recovery task is performed by combining the operation by the control program representing autonomy of a robot and the operation by a human representing versatility of a human operator effectively in the view point of human factors engineering. The geometric inverse kinematics is used for the calculation of the robot joint values in the operation by the control program. The singularity operation error and the parameter operation error often occur in this procedure. These two operation errors increase the movement time of the robot and the coordinate reading time, during the error recovery task. A singularity algorithm, parameter algorithm and fuzzy control are studied so as to remove the disadvantages of geometric inverse kinematics. And the geometric straight line motion is studied so as to improve the disadvantages of the operation by a human.

Photon-counting linear discriminant analysis for face recognition at a distance

  • Face recognition has wide applications in security and surveillance systems as well as in robot vision and machine interfaces. Conventional challenges in face recognition include pose, illumination, and expression, and face recognition at a distance involves additional challenges because long-distance images are often degraded due to poor focusing and motion blurring. This study investigates the effectiveness of applying photon-counting linear discriminant analysis (Pc-LDA) to face recognition in harsh environments. A related technique, Fisher linear discriminant analysis, has been found to be optimal, but it often suffers from the singularity problem because the number of available training images is generally much smaller than the number of pixels. Pc-LDA, on the other hand, realizes the Fisher criterion in high-dimensional space without any dimensionality reduction. Therefore, it provides more invariant solutions to image recognition under distortion and degradation. Two decision rules are employed: one is based on Euclidean distance; the other, on normalized correlation. In the experiments, the asymptotic equivalence of the photon-counting method to the Fisher method is verified with simulated data. Degraded facial images are employed to demonstrate the robustness of the photon-counting classifier in harsh environments. Four types of blurring point spread functions are applied to the test images in order to simulate long-distance acquisition. The results are compared with those of conventional Eigen face and Fisher face methods. The results indicate that Pc-LDA is better than conventional facial recognition techniques.

Identification of failure mechanisms for CFRP-confined circular concrete-filled steel tubular columns through acoustic emission signals

  • The CFRP-confined circular concrete-filled steel tubular column is composed of concrete, steel, and CFRP. Its failure mechanics are complex. The most important difficulties are lack of an available method to establish a relationship between a specific damage mechanism and its acoustic emission (AE) characteristic parameter. In this study, AE technique was used to monitor the evolution of damage in CFRP-confined circular concrete-filled steel tubular columns. A fuzzy c-means method was developed to determine the relationship between the AE signal and failure mechanisms. Cluster analysis results indicate that the main AE sources include five types: matrix cracking, debonding, fiber fracture, steel buckling, and concrete crushing. This technology can not only totally separate five types of damage sources, but also make it easier to judge the damage evolution process. Furthermore, typical damage waveforms were analyzed through wavelet analysis based on the cluster results, and the damage modes were determined according to the frequency distribution of AE signals.

  • As the suitability of berth allocation will ultimately have a significant influence on the performance of a berth, a great deal of attention should be given to berth allocation. Generally, a berth allocation problem has conflicting factors between servers and users. In addition, there is uncertainty in great extent caused by various factors such as departure delay, inclement weather on route, poor handling equipment, a lack of storage space, and other factors contribute to the uncertainty of arrival and berthing time. Thus, it is necessary to establish berth allocation planning which reflects the positions of interested parties and the ambiguity of parameters. For this, a berth allocation problem is formulated by fuzzy 0-1 integer programming introducing the concept of maximum Position Shift(MPS). But, the above approach has limitations in terms of computational time and computer memory when the size of problem is increased. It also has limitations with respect to the integration of other sub-systems such as ship planning system and yard planning system. For solving such problem, this paper focuses particularly on developing an efficient heuristic algorithm as a new technique of getting an effective solution. And also the suggested algorithm is verified through the illustrative examples and empirical appalicaton to BCTOC.

A Metaheuristic Approach Towards Enhancement of Network Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Sensor networks are now an essential aspect of wireless communication, especially with the introduction of new gadgets and protocols. Their ability to be deployed anywhere, especially where human presence is undesirable, makes them perfect choices for remote observation and control. Despite their vast range of applications from home to hostile territory monitoring, limited battery power remains a limiting factor in their efficacy. To analyze and transmit data, it requires intelligent use of available battery power. Several studies have established effective routing algorithms based on clustering. However, choosing optimal cluster heads and similarity measures for clustering significantly increases computing time and cost. This work proposes and implements a simple two-phase technique of route creation and maintenance to ensure route reliability by employing nature-inspired ant colony optimization followed by the fuzzy decision engine (FDE). Benchmark methods such as PSO, ACO and GWO are compared with the proposed HRCM's performance. The objective has been focused towards establishing the superiority of proposed work amongst existing optimization methods in a standalone configuration. An average of 15% improvement in energy consumption followed by 12% improvement in latency reduction is observed in proposed hybrid model over standalone optimization methods.

다기준 의사결정기법을 적용한 가뭄취약성 평가 방법에 관한 연구 (An Approach to Drought Vulnerability Assessment using Multi Criteria Decision Making Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 가뭄과 연관되는 다양한 관련 요인을 포함한 가뭄취약성 평가방안을 수립하고 이를 적용하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 평가기법은 평가인자와 가중치 선정, 평가자료 데이터베이스 구축, 평가자료와 가중치를 조합한 평가의 세 단계로 구성되었으며 평가인자 및 가중치 선정에는 Delphi 조사기법을 적용하고 평가기법으로는 최근 널리 적용되고 있는 MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) 방법인 TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) 기법을 활용하였다. 평가인자는 기상분야(Meteorological factors), 농업분야(Agricultural factors), 사회경제분야(Socioeconomic factors), 환경분야(Natural System)로 구성하였으며 선정된 인자에 대한 데이터베이스를 구성하기 위하여 기상청, 농어촌공사, 수자원공사 등의 관계기관이 관리하는 자료를 수집하였다. 수립한 가뭄취약성 평가방안을 2016년 3월부터 2019년 9월까지 우리나라 시군구 행정구역 단위, 총 167개 지역이며 순위법, 비율법, fuzzy 등 가중치 선정방법에 따라 결과에 약간의 차이가 나타난다. 가뭄예보결과와 취약성 평가결과를 비교해 보면 충청남도 홍성군이 동기간 동안 가뭄예경보 발령 횟수가 가장 많았으며, 충청남도 보령시와 서산시도 매우 높은 빈도로 확인되었다. 평가 결과, 충청북도, 경상남도, 전라남도에 가뭄 취약지역이 다수 도출 되어 이들 지역에 대한 가뭄 대응 방안 수립이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

Novel ANFIS based SMC with Fractional Order PID Controller for Non Linear Interacting Coupled Spherical Tank System for Level Process

  • Interacting Spherical tank has maximum storage capacity is broadly utilized in industries because of its high storage capacity. This two tank level system has the nonlinear characteristics due to its varying surface area of cross section of tank. The challenging tasks in industries is to manage the flow rate of liquid. This proposed work plays a major role in controlling the liquid level in avoidance of time delay and error. Several researchers studied and investigated about reducing the nonlinearity problem and their approaches do not provide better result. Different types of controllers with various techniques are implemented by the proposed system. Intelligent Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) based Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) with Fractional order PID controller is a novel technique which is developed for a liquid level control in a interacting spherical tank system to avoid the external disturbances perform better result in terms of rise time, settling time and overshoot reduction. The performance of the proposed system is obtained by analyzing the simulation result obtained from the controller. The simulation results are obtained with the help of FOMCON toolbox with MATLAB 2018. Finally, the performance of the conventional controller (FOPID, PID-SMC) and proposed ANFIS based SMC-FOPID controllers are compared and analyzed the performance indices.

협업 필터링을 이용한 순위 정렬 모델 기반 (IP)TV 프로그램 자동 추천 (Automatic Recommendation of (IP)TV programs based on A Rank Model using Collaborative Filtering)

  • 방송과 융합의 시대로 접어들면서 (IP)TV 단말에서 이용 가능한 프로그램 콘텐츠 수가 급격히 증가 하였다. 이로 인해, 사용자 (시청자)가 선호하는 방송 프로그램 콘텐츠로의 접근성이 주요한 사항이 되었다. 본 논문은 유사 사용자 선호도에 기반을 둔 협업 필터링을 이용하여(IP)TV 프로그램을 효율적으로 사용자에게 자동 추천하는 연구에 관한 내용이다. 개인의 시청 프로그램 선호도를 고려하여 방송 프로그램을 추천하기 위해서, 제안하는 추천 시스템의 구성은 오프라인과 온라인 연산으로 구성된다. 오프라인 연산과정에서 (IP)TV 프로그램, 장르, 채널에 대한 개인의 선호도를 묵시적으로 추론 하는 방법을 제시하고, 동적 퍼지 클러스터링 방법을 사용하여 각 개인의 선호도에 따라 사용자들을 그룹 짓되, 특징 벡터를 장르와 채널에 대한 선호도로 결합하여 사용하는 방법을 제시한다. 또한, (IP)TV 단말에 로그인 한 활동 사용자에게, 높은 정확도로 선호 프로그램을 추천하기 위해서, 활동 사용자와 관심 시청 프로그램이 유사한 사용자들을 유사도 측정 방법을 사용하여 한 번 더 추출하고, 이 추출된 유사 취향 사용자들의 선호 (IP)TV 프로그램들에 대해, EPG를 이용하여 현재 방송되지 않는 프로그램들을 제외시킨다. 마지막 단계에서는 추천 후보 프로그램들에 대해 본 논문에서 제안하는 순위 정렬 모델을 이용하여 추천 우선순위를 결정하여 제시한다. 특별히, 본 논문은 BM(Best Match) 알고리즘을 확장하여 개인 선호도를 고려한 순위 정렬 모델을 제시한다. 실험을 통해, 본 논문에서 제안한 프로그램 자동 추천 알고리듬은 2,441명의 사용자에 대해 5개의 프로그램을 추천하였을 경우, 62.1%의 예측 정확도를 나타내었다.

홈 웰니스 로봇의 사물인터넷 기반 지능형 자기 위치 및 자세 제어 (IoT Based Intelligent Position and Posture Control of Home Wellness Robots)

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트 홈 환경 내에서 웰니스 로봇의 이동을 위한 로봇의 사물인터넷 기반 지능형 자기위치인식 및 자세제어 방법을 제안한다. 먼저, 자기위치인식 방법은 스마트 홈, 홈 환경 내 위치하고 있는 물체, 홈 웰니스 로봇 간의 사물인터넷을 기반으로 하는 방법을 제안한다. 스마트 홈에 RF태그를 설치하고 환경 내 물체에 RF 리더를 내장하여 환경 내 물체의 절대좌표 정보를 획득하고, 물체와 홈 웰니스 로봇간 블루투스 통신을 이용하여 물체의 절대좌표 정보를 홈 웰니스 로봇에 제공한 후, 홈 웰니스 로봇에 장착되어 있는 스테레오 카메라를 통해서 물체를 기준으로 한 홈 웰니스 로봇의 상대 좌표를 알아내어 로봇의 스마트 홈 환경에서의 자기위치인식을 한다. 둘째로, 홈 웰니스 로봇의 물체 접근을 위한 비전센서 기반의 퍼지 자세 제어 방법을 제안한다. 홈 웰니스 로봇의 정면에 장착된 스테레오 카메라를 기준으로 물체까지의 깊이 정보를 추출하고 영상의 중앙을 기준으로 틀어진 각을 계산하여 물체와 홈 웰니스 로봇 정면과의 각도차를 알아낸다. 얻은 정보를 퍼지 순람표(Look-Up table)로 작성하여 물체에 접근하기 위한 홈 웰니스 로봇의 자세제어를 하도록 한다. 이렇게 제안한 각각의 자기위치인식 및 자세제어 방법의 성능은 실제 구축한 스마트 홈 환경과 웰니스 로봇을 가지고 실험하여 확인한다.
