  • Learning rule affects importantly the performance of neural network. This paper proposes a new fuzzy learning rule that uses the learning rate considering the distance between the input vector and the prototypes of classes. When the learning rule updates the prototypes of classes, this consideration reduces the effect of outlier on the prototypes of classes. This comes from making the effect of the input vector, which locates near the decision boundary, larger than an outlier. Therefore, it can prevents an outlier from deteriorating the decision boundary. This new fuzzy learning rule is integrated into IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) fuzzy neural network. Iris data set is used to compare the performance of the proposed fuzzy neural network with those of other supervised neural networks. The results show that the proposed fuzzy neural network is better than other supervised neural networks.

이 새로운 퍼지 학습법칙을 IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) 신경회로망에 적용하였다.

  • In this paper we propose a fuzzy c-regression model based on weighted least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM), which can be used to detect outliers in the switching regression model while preserving simultaneous yielding the estimates of outputs together with a fuzzy c-partitions of data. It can be applied to the nonlinear regression which does not have an explicit form of the regression function. We illustrate the new algorithm with examples which indicate how it can be used to detect outliers and fit the mixed data to the nonlinear regression models.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for robustly estimating camera motion using fuzzy classification from the correspondences between two images. We use a RANSAC(Random Sample Consensus) algorithm to obtain accurate camera motion estimates in the presence of outliers. The drawback of RANSAC is that its performance depends on a prior knowledge of the outlier ratio. To resolve this problem the proposed method classifies samples into three classes(good sample set, bad sample set and vague sample set) using fuzzy classification. It then improves classification accuracy omitting outliers by iteratively sampling in only good sample set. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is very effective for computing a homography.

  • This study presents a fuzzy varying coefficient regression model after deleting the outliers to improve the feasibility and effectiveness of the fuzzy regression model. The objective of our methodology is to allow the fuzzy regression coefficients to vary with a covariate, and simultaneously avoid the impact of data contaminated by outliers. In this paper, fuzzy regression coefficients are represented by Gaussian fuzzy numbers. We also formulate suitable goodness of fit to evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our methodology.

  • Regression analysis is an analyzing method of regression model to explain the statistical relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. This paper propose a fuzzy regression analysis applying Theils method which is not sensitive to outliers. This method use medians of rate of increment based on randomly chosen pairs of each components of ${\alpha}$-level sets of fuzzy data in order to estimate the coefficients of fuzzy regression model. An example and two simulation results are given to show fuzzy Theils estimator is more robust than the fuzzy least squares estimator.

  • Support vector machine (SVM) has a strong theoretical foundation and also achieved excellent empirical success. It has been widely used in a variety of pattern recognition applications. Unfortunately, SVM also has the drawback that it is sensitive to outliers and its performance is degraded by their presence. In this paper, a new outlier detection method based on genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed for a robust SVM. The proposed method parallels the GA-based feature selection method and removes the outliers that would be considered as support vectors by the previous soft margin SVM. The proposed algorithm is applied to various data sets in the UCI repository to demonstrate its performance.

  • A new fuzzy c-regression algorithm for switching regression analysis is presented, which combines fuzzy c-means clustering and least squares support vector machine. This algorithm can detect outliers in switching regression models while yielding the simultaneous estimates of the associated parameters together with a fuzzy c-partitions of data. It can be employed for the model-free nonlinear regression which does not assume the underlying form of the regression function. We illustrate the new approach with some numerical examples that show how it can be used to fit switching regression models to almost all types of mixed data.

  • This study is purported for suggesting a new clustering algorithm that enables incremental categorization of numerous documents. The suggested algorithm adopts the natures of the spherical k-means algorithm, which clusters a mass amount of high-dimensional documents, and the fuzzy ART(adaptive resonance theory) neural network, which performs clustering incrementally. In short, the suggested algorithm is a combination of the spherical k-means vector space model and concept vector and fuzzy ART vigilance parameter. The new algorithm not only supports incremental clustering and automatically sets the appropriate number of clusters, but also solves the current problems of overfitting caused by outlier and noise. Additionally, concerning the objective function value, which measures the cluster's coherence that is used to evaluate the quality of produced clusters, tests on the CLASSIC3 data set showed that the newly suggested algorithm works better than the spherical k-means by 8.04% in average.

This paper introduce Theil's method to find a fuzzy regression model which explain the relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. Theil's method is a robust method which is not sensive to outliers. We propose an example to show Theil's estimator is robust than the Least squares estimator.
