  • This paper proposes an adaptive robust control method for an acrobot system in the presence of input disturbance. The acrobot system is a typical example of the underactuated system with complex nonlinearity and strong dynamic coupling. Also, disturbance can cause limit cycle phenomenon which appears in the acrobot system around the desired unstable equilibrium point. To minimize the effect of the disturbance, we apply a fuzzy disturbance estimation method for the swing-up and balancing control of the acrobot system. In this paper, both disturbance observer and controller for the acrobot system are designed and verified through mathematical proof and simulations.

  • The main objective of this paper is to control the speed of Nonlinear Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) by controlling the throttle position. Various control techniques such as well known Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller in conjunction with state feedback controller (SFC) such as Pole Placement Technique (PPT), Observer Based Controller (OBC) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) Controller are designed. Some Intelligent control techniques e.g. fuzzy logic PD, Fuzzy logic PI along with Adaptive Controller such as Self Organizing Controller (SOC) is also designed. The design objective in this research paper is to provide smooth throttle movement, zero steady-state speed error, and to maintain a Selected Vehicle (SV) speed. A comparative study is carried out in order to identify the superiority of optimal control technique so as to get improved fuel economy, reduced pollution, improved driving safety and reduced manufacturing costs.

  • This paper concerns a design methodology of observer-based output-feedback digital controller for Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy systems using intelligent digital redesign (IDR). The term of IDR involves converting an analog fuzzy-mode-based controller into an equivalent digital one in the sense of state-matching. The considered IDR problem is viewed as convex minimization problems of the norm distances between linear operators to be matched. The stability condition is easily embedded and the separations principle is explicitly shown.

  • The problem of decision making under imprecise environments are widely spread in real life decision situations. We present a method of object recognition from imprecise multi observer data, which extends the work of Roy and Maji [J Compu. Appl. Math. 203(2007) 412-418] to generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft set theory. The method involves the construction of a comparison table from a generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft set in a parametric sense for decision making.

  • For the anti-sway control of traveling cranes, there are several solutions, i.e., by fuzzy control, by optimal control theory, etc. Each of them is reported to be effective. And, H infinity control and $H_2$ control can be also used. However, the full order observer which estimates all states in the controlled object is used in these methods. Therefore, the orders of these controllers are apt to be higher than that of the optimal controller, etc. Because the conventional H2 controller which minimizes $H_2$ norm consists of two parts, that is: feedback gains which make the controlled object stable and the full order observer which estimate those states. If the minimal order observer is used instead of the full order one, the order of the controller can be reduced. In this paper, we propose a new method based on the minimalization of $H_2$ norm using the minimal order observer. And, we confirm the effect of a new $H_2$ controller in the experiments of the anti-sway control of a traveling crane.

  • This paper presents the construction of an active suspension system of a one-wheel car model by using fuzzy reasoning. The car model is approximately described by a nonlinear two degrees freedom system subject to excitation from a road profile, and the active control force is constructed by actuating a pneumatic actuator, and the degradation of the performance due to the delay of the pneumatic actuator is improved by inserting a compensator. The fuzzy control is obtained by single input rule modules fuzzy reasoning, and the excitation from the road profile is estimated by using a disturbance observer. The experimental result shows that the proposed active suspension system much improves the performance in the vibration suppression of the car model.

  • This paper presents design of nonlinear controller based on genetic-fuzzy algorithm. Motor system that is included at a humanoid robot has many nonlinear parameters such as saturation, backlash and so on. So, it is hard to control a humanoid robot because of these nonlinearities. Also, tracking following ability is also reduced by these nonlinearities. In this paper, fuzzy PID controller is proposed for reducing efficiency by saturation. At that time, genetic algorithm is supplied at making fuzzy rule in order to make optimal fuzzy PID controller. Also, disturbance observer is used to reduce the efficiency of backlash. All these processes are verified by simulation and experiment in the real humanoid robot.

  • This paper presents a adaptive fuzzy control suitable for motion control of multi-link robot manipulators with uncertainties. When joint velocities are available, full state adaptive fuzzy feedback control is designed to ensure the stability of the closed loop dynamic. If the joint velocities are not measurable, an observer is introduced and an adaptive output feedback control is designed based on the estimated velocities. To reduce the number of fuzzy rules of the fuzzy controller, we consider the properties of robot dynamics and the decomposition of the unknown input gain matrix. The proposed controller is robust against uncertainties and external disturbances. The validity of the control scheme is demonstrated by computer simulations on a two-link robot manipulator.

  • In this paper, a new speed sensorless control based on a fuzzy compensator are proposed for the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. The conventional proportional plus integrate(PI) control are very sensitive to step change of the command speed, parameter variations and load disturbance. To cope with these problems of the PI control, the estimated speeds are compensated by using the fuzzy logic controller (FLC). In the FLC used by the speed compensator of the IPMSM, the system control parameters are adjusted by the fuzzy rule based system, which is a logical model of the human behavior for process control. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.
