  • Slit-coater nozzle is one of core equipments of coating process in LCD panel manufactory. As a glass substrate size become bigger, a nozzle performance and a high-speed coating process are considered important issues. To design the optimal nozzle, the characteristics of fluid inside nozzle are studied using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. Through research on design factors, we can know the coating uniformity influenced by lip length, cavity angle and gap size. The future work for this study is to find the factors in high-speed coating process and function between factors of design.

  • The present review report introduces the existing analysis codes and physical modeling of two-phase flow associated with initiating event of HCDA in Liquid Metal Reactors for the effective study in the future, because the related research has not been systematically carried out in Korea compared with other areas. The description in this report is specifically addressed to the results yielded from careful review of the technical concepts on the two-phase flow modeling in the SAS2A code which was developed in ANL. The report is prepared in 2 parts based on the definite physical phenomena. The liquid slug and gas behavior models are main representations in the part (I) and (II), respectively. In this regard, it is expected that this report provide a fundamental knowledge on the two-phase flow model in LMR and, thus, contribute to establishment of the necessary HCDA analysis technology concerned with the LMR development in Korea.

  • After stepping into a new field of vacuum 30 years ago, our company has grown up steadily as a specialized vacuum industry, and now we can provide vacuum devices covering most of the pressure range. We are planning to put out high level dry pump like a multistage Roots pump on the market in the near future. Procedures of technology development for designing, fabricating, and testing the multistage Roots pump of 600 L/min class will be briefly reported. Core items of the technical development on the multistage Roots pump are as follows; elaborated profile design of 3-lobe rotors using an involute curve, optimization of rotor dimensions, especially for clearances and rotor width, considering the pumping speed, compression ratio and heat load, and establishment of a standardized test system. At present, the multistage Roots pump is about to come into commercialization.

  • Since discovery, NdFeB permanent magnet has replaced application of the conventional magnets rapidly because of its superior physical and mechanical properties. With increasing consumption of power combined with energy resource depletion, energy efficiency is becoming more and more inportant. According to recent reports, almost almost half of the electric power is consumed by motor, and NdFeB magnets which are the core component of the motor play a key role on improving energy efficiency of the devices. In parallel with finding alternatives energy resources, research works improving energy efficiecy have been conducted world wide. Althogh NdFeB magnets usage have been expanded to various applications, key materials such as Nd and Dy, resouces lean heavily on specific area, China. Magnetic industry revently experienced skyrocketing price fluctuatioin of rare earth at around 2008. Chineses government's regulations worsened the situation and arose a necessity to develop methods to minimize rare earth use. In this presentation, POSCO's recent research works on rare earth reduction is presented including novel powder alloying method using nitrate precursors. Also, future R&D plans for rare earth free magnets is briefly introduced as well.

  • Smart Manufacturing Factory is a paradigm of the future lead to the fourth industrial revolution that led Germany and the United States. Now the automation of the production facility and won a certain degree, and through the process of integrating the entire process, including planning, design, distribution of information and communication technology products in emerging as a core competitiveness of the national economy. In particular, the company accelerated the smart factory building in order to improve the manufacturing industry, cost savings and productivity simply to incorporate internet of things(IoT),Robot, artificial intelligence, big data technology as a factory automation level of sophistication of the system and out to progress to the level that replaces human labor have. In this we should look at the trend of promoting domestic and foreign factories want to present these smart strategies for Korea.

  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a technology that can input identification information to microchip and make goods, animals, persons recognized, chased, and managed using radio frequency, and is founded on the core technology of ubiquitous environment of the future. In this paper, we propose a RFID integrated system designed to manage the lifecycle of an individual product efficiently. The proposed system can enable traceability and visibility of items through their entire life by integrating distribution and banking information on the basis of EPCglobal Network. It may provide the infra of Digital Manufacturing and RTE (Real Time Enterprise) and effective information sharing structure with existing legacy system (ERP, CRM, SCM) by real time.

  • This study is aimed to accurately predict the vibration response of two types of functionally graded sandwich plates, one with FGM core and another with FGM face sheets. The gradation in FGM layer is quantified by exponential method. An efficient zig-zag theory is used and the zigzag impacts are established via a linear unit Heaviside step function. The present theory fulfills interlaminar transverse stress continuity at the interface and zero condition at the top and bottom surfaces of the plate for transverse shear stresses. Nine-noded C-0 FE having 8DOF/node is utilized throughout analysis. The present model is free from the obligation of any penalty function or post-processing technique and hence is computationally efficient. Numerical results have been presented on the free vibration behavior of sandwich FGM for different end conditions, lamination schemes and layer orientations. The applicability of present model is confirmed by comparing with published results. Several new results are also specified, which will serve as the benchmark for future studies.

  • Metaverse is expected to bring many innovations to society, culture, and economy by providing realistic services in various fields while suppressing time and space constraints. However, unclear definitions owing to the high diversity of the metaverse add to the confusion of the ecosystem participants. The current metaverse service has many voices of concern owing to technical limitations and lack of a clear profit model. Nevertheless, given its high growth potential driven by the digital transformation, a solid and long-term technology development strategy seems to be necessary. Accordingly, we analyze development cases centering on the major metaverse service shapes presented in the Metaverse New Industry Leading Strategy announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT in January 2022. In addition, we study the characteristics and core technologies of each metaverse service for its realization and discuss future stages of technological development.
