Increasing the flexural capacity of RC beams using partially HPFRCC layers

  • High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites which are called HPFRCC, include cement matrices with strain hardening response under tension loading. In these composites, the cement mortar with fine aggregates, is reinforced by continuous or random distributed fibers and could be used for various applications including structural fuses and retrofitting of reinforced concrete members etc. In this paper, mechanical properties of HPFRCC materials are reviewed briefly. Moreover, a reinforced concrete beam (experimentally tested by Maalej et al.) is chosen and in different specimens, lower or upper or both parts of that beam are replaced with HPFRCC layers. After modeling of specimens in ABAQUS and calibration of those, mechanical properties of these specimens are investigated with different thicknesses, tensile strengths, tensile strains and compressive bars. Analytical results which are obtained by nonlinear finite analyses show that using HPFRCC layers with different parameters, increase loading capacity and ultimate displacement of these beams compare to RC specimens.

Autophagy and its regulation by ginseng components

  • Autophagy is the sequential process whereby cell components are degraded, which can occur due to nutrient deprivation. Its regulation has an essential role in many diseases, functioning in both cell survival and cell death. Autophagy starts when mTORC1 is inhibited, resulting in the activation of several complexes to form a cargo that fuses with a lysosome, where it undergoes degradation. In this review, we describe a plant extract that is well known in Korea, namely Korean ginseng extract; we studied how its derivatives and metabolites can regulate autophagy and thus mediate the pathogenesis of certain diseases.

Research on Shellfish Recognition Based on Improved Faster RCNN

  • The Faster RCNN-based shellfish recognition algorithm is introduced for shellfish recognition studies that currently do not have any deep learning-based algorithms in a practical setting. The original feature extraction module is replaced by DenseNet, which fuses multi-level feature data and optimises the NMS algorithm, network depth and merging method; overcoming the omission of shellfish overlap, multiple shellfish and insufficient light, effectively solving the problem of low shellfish classification accuracy. In the complexifier test environment, the test accuracy was improved by nearly 4%. Higher testing accuracy was achieved compared to the original testing algorithm. This provides favourable technical support for future applications of the improved Faster RCNN approach to seafood quality classification.

태양광 접속반의 자동 화재 예방 및 진압 시스템 설계 (Design of Automatic Fire Prevention and Suppression System for Photovoltaic Connection Module)

  • A solar power generation system uses a solar module that collects solar radiation energy, a connecting board that collects DC power generated from the solar module, and a diode to prevent reverse current from flowing from an inverter to the solar module. The existing photovoltaic connection module consists of only fuses and diodes for reverse polarity and overcurrent blocking, and does not have fire diagnosis, prevention, and suppression functions in the event of a fire. To solve this problem, this paper presents a method to monitor the internal state of the photovoltaic connection module using several sensors and to prevent and extinguish a fire using solenoid valves and fire extinguishing agents when a fire is detected. Through the experiment, it was confirmed that the proposed method normally suppresses the fire in event of a fire.

Parallel Dense Merging Network with Dilated Convolutions for Semantic Segmentation of Sports Movement Scene

  • In the field of scene segmentation, the precise segmentation of object boundaries in sports movement scene images is a great challenge. The geometric information and spatial information of the image are very important, but in many models, they are usually easy to be lost, which has a big influence on the performance of the model. To alleviate this problem, a parallel dense dilated convolution merging Network (termed PDDCM-Net) was proposed. The proposed PDDCMNet consists of a feature extractor, parallel dilated convolutions, and dense dilated convolutions merged with different dilation rates. We utilize different combinations of dilated convolutions that expand the receptive field of the model with fewer parameters than other advanced methods. Importantly, PDDCM-Net fuses both low-level and high-level information, in effect alleviating the problem of accurately segmenting the edge of the object and positioning the object position accurately. Experimental results validate that the proposed PDDCM-Net achieves a great improvement compared to several representative models on the COCO-Stuff data set.

LFFCNN: 라이트 필드 카메라의 다중 초점 이미지 합성 (LFFCNN: Multi-focus Image Synthesis in Light Field Camera)

  • This paper presents a novel approach to multi-focus image fusion using light field cameras. The proposed neural network, LFFCNN (Light Field Focus Convolutional Neural Network), is composed of three main modules: feature extraction, feature fusion, and feature reconstruction. Specifically, the feature extraction module incorporates SPP (Spatial Pyramid Pooling) to effectively handle images of various scales. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model not only effectively fuses a single All-in-Focus image from images with multi focus images but also offers more efficient and robust focus fusion compared to existing methods.

연습용 회로지령탄약 발사통 신관 불발율 감소에 관한 연구 (Research on the Decrease of Dud Ammunition Rate of Grenade Fuzes of Remote Controlled Munition System(For practice) through Quality Improvement)

  • 최근 연습용 회로지령탄약 발사통 정부 수락시험 결과, 총 125발의 시료수 중 9발의 불발이 발생되었다. 국방 규격을 충족하였으나, 불발율은 7.2 %로 공정 품질수준에 따른 시료수 절감과 AQL의 개선, 군 훈련효과 증대 및 사용자 안전을 확보하기 위해 불발율의 최소화가 필요하였다. 연습용 회로지령탄약 발사통의 경우 타격식 뇌관이 적용되나, 일반적인 공이 타격식과는 달리 작동기 압력으로 타격되는 구조를 가지고 있어 전산 유체역학 해석을 통해 뇌관 면의 기울기에 따른 작동에너지를 확인하였다. 분석 결과, 뇌관면의 기울기가 커질수록 작동성 약화 및 후출 가능성이 높아짐을 확인하였다. 이를 개선하기 위해 신관 클림핑 공정개선 및 뇌관 홀더 안착부 증대 설계변경을 진행하였고, 동일 시료수로 성능확인 결과 전량 작동되어 불발율 0%의 결과를 도출하였다. 이로써 연습용 회로지령탄약 발사통의 신뢰성, 성능을 개선할 수 있었으며, 추후 유사 탄약 개발 시 도면 및 공정 설계에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

RF Sputtering을 이용한 전류 민감성 차단 디바이스에 관한 연구 (The Study on a sensitive current limiting breaking device using RF Sputtering)

  • In this paper, we evaluated the sputter-deposited Cr/Cu thin film fuses on $Al_2O_3$ substrates by the adhesive, breaking and repetitive over-current test as a function of temperature on them. Each Cr and Cu was deposited $1700{\pm}300{\AA},\;3700{\pm}300{\AA}$ using RF sputtering unit. The electroplated Cu of $25{\mu}m$ thickness was added in order to make sensitive thin film fuse of the normal current 15[A]. The adhesive strength and the number of repetition were Increasing and then decreasing with the temperature. The maximum adhesive strength of over $9kgf/9mm^2$ was obtained at $400^{\circ}C$. In the breaking test, the post-arc time characteristic was better than any other factor.

Coordinated Control Strategies with and without Circulating Current in Unified Power Quality

  • Under traditional unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) control, a UPQC series converter (SC) is mainly used to handle grid-side power quality problems while its parallel converter (PC) is mainly used to handle load-side power quality problems. The SC and PC are relatively independent. The SC is usually in standby mode and it only runs when the grid voltage abruptly changes. In this paper, novel UPQC coordinated control strategies are proposed which use the SC to share the reactive power compensation function of the PC especially without grid-side power quality problems. However, in some cases, there will be a circulating current between the SC and the PC, which will probably influence the compensation fashion, the compensation capacity, or the normal work of the UPQC. Through an active power circulation analysis, strategies with and without a circulating current are presented which fuses the reactive power allocation strategy of the SC and the PC, the composite control strategy of the SC and the compensation strategy of the DC storage unit. Both of the strategies effectively solve the SC long term idle problem, limit the influence of the circulating current, optimize all of the UPQC units and reduce the production cost. An analysis, along with simulation andexperimental results, is presented to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategies.

A miniaturized attitude estimation system for a gesture-based input device with fuzzy logic approach

  • In this paper, we develop an input device equipped with accelerometers and gyroscopes. The installed sensors measure the inertial measurements i.e., accelerations and angular rates produced by the movement of the system when a user is writing on the plane surface or in the three dimensional space. The gyroscope measurement are integrated once to give the attitude of the system and consequently used to remove the gravity included in the acceleration measurements. The compensated accelerations bin doubly integrated to yield the position of the system. Due to the integration processes involved in recovering the users'motions, the accuracy of the position estimation significantly deteriorates with time. Among various error sources of the system incorrect estimation of attitude causes the largest portion of the positioning error since the gravity is not fully cancelled. In order to solve this problem, we propose a Kalman filler-based attitude estimation algorithm which fuses measurement data from accelerometers and gyroscopes by fuzzy logic approach. In addition, the online calibration of the gyroscope biases are performed in parallel with the attitude estimation to give more accurate attitude estimation. The effectiveness and the feasibility of the presented system is demonstrated through computer simulations and actual experiments.
