To evaluate the sensitivity of Monilinia fructicola to dicarboximides used in controlling brown rot of peach, the fungus was isolated from commercial peach orchards in Chochiwon (CH), Chongdo (CD), Gyeongsan (GY), and Youngduk (YO) in Korea. The population shift of dicarboximide-resistant isolates of M. fructicola was investigated for 3 years starting 1998. The frequency of procymidone-resistant isolates (PRI) was higher in CD and GY than in CH and YO. The frequency of PRI was higher in the mid season (July-August) than in the rest of the year. Cross-resistance rate of PRI to iprodione was over 87.8% during the investigation, and double-resistance to both procymidone and carbendazim was less than 10%. However, the rate of cross-resistant isolates to vinclozolin was low. In the orchards in GY and CH without any fungicide spray, the PRI population was persistent and did not vary for 3 years. The results suggest that dicarboximide resistance of M. fructicola could be a problem in controlling brown rot and blossom blight on peach trees because it may take a long time to recover the population with sensitive isolates even in the absence of these fungicides.
The toxicity of chlorothalonil on the growth of yeasts was investigated using several yeast strains. An alcohol tolerant yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae F38-1, was the most chlorothalonil-tolerant. The glutathione content and the glutathione S-transferase activity were related to the chlorothalonil-tolerant phenotype. Several thiol compounds affect the dissipation of chlorothalonil. However, there was no significant difference on the effects of chlorothalonil dissipation among the thiol compounds tested. The growth of yeast cells was arrested by chlorothalonil. It took about 13 h to dissipate 1 mg/l of chlorothalonil, and the growth was restored as the chlorothalonil content decreased. The glutathione content and glutathione S-transferase are suggested to be among the most important factors of yeast resistance to chlorothalonil.
Resistance monitoring for tolyfluanid was conducted over 2 years from 2005 to 2006 with 218 isolates of Botrytis cinerea obtained from infected plants of ginseng. All isolates of B. cinerea were divided into 3 groups such as highly sensitive (HS) group, sensitive (S) group and less sensitive (LS) group to tolyfluanid. HS group was defined as one showing $EC_{50}$ value less than $2.0\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. $EC_{50}$ value of S group ranged between $2.0\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ and $18.0\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$, while that of LS group was more than $18.0\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ Among B. cinerea isolates tested in this study, 174 isolates were included into S group, while 22 isolates were done into HS group. The other isolates belonged to LS group. Botrytis cinerea isolates showed the high correlation of $EC_{50}$ value of mycelial growth with that of spore germination to tolyfluanid. This results could be used for the determination of fungicide resistance and the establishment of strategy for fungicide resistance management.
The population shifts of Monilinia fructicola isolates which were resistant to the fungicide benzimidazoles were investigated in four regions of Korea from 1998 to 2000. The isolation frequency of benzimidazole-resistant isolates ranged from 18.8% to 29.6% in Chongdo and from $22.0\%$ to $26.8\%$ in Gyeongsan during the same period. However, the frequency of benzimidazoleresistant isolates was less than $4.0\%$ in Chochiwon and Youngduk during the same period. Benzimidazoleresistant isolates showed cross-resistance among benzimidazoles. On the other hand, none of the isolates showed cross-resistance to diethofencarb and carbendazim. Regardless of the year, the benzimidazole-resistant isolates of $EC_{50}$ higher than 500 $\mug%$ a.i./ml were isolated more frequently in mid and late season than in early season. In an orchard of Gyeongsan that had not been exposed to any fungicides for several years, the population of benzimidazole-resistant isolate had persisted without much fluctuation for three years. These results suggest that benzimidazole resistance of M. fructicola is becoming a problem in controlling brown rot and blossom blight of peach in regions like Chongdo and Gyeongsan.
Root and stem rot caused by Phytophthora palmivora is one of the most serious diseases affecting durian production in Thailand where metalaxyl, an effective fungicide against oomycetes, has been used extensively for a long period to control this disease. Although field isolates of P. palmivora resistant to metalaxyl exist in Thailand, a molecular basis for P. palmivora has not yet been elucidated regarding metalaxyl resistance. The current study tested whether P. palmivora RPA1 (the DNA-directed RNA polymerase I subunit gene), a homolog gene of RPA190 associated with metalaxyl resistance in some isolates of Phytophthora infestans, had a role in the resistance mechanism toward metalaxyl. In total, 40 durian-derived isolates of P. palmivora were assessed for metalaxyl sensitivity using a mycelial growth inhibition assay. The effective concentrations for 50% mycelial growth inhibition values for all isolates tested were in the range 0.01-872.88 mg/L. The isolates were clustered into three groups: sensitive (n=23), moderately resistant (n=11), and resistant (n=6) groups. No polymorphism was revealed based on multiple alignment analysis of the amino acid sequences translated from the corresponding DNA sequences in the region of RPA1 of the metalaxyl-sensitive (n=5), moderately resistant (n=2), and resistant isolates (n=6). Furthermore, investigation of the RPA1 expression among these representative isolates (n=3, each group) indicated that RPA1 expression may not be involved in the regulation of P. palmivora resistance to metalaxyl. Based on this line of evidence, there was no detected relationship regarding metalaxyl resistance and P. palmivora RPA1.
This study aimed to assess the disease incidence and distribution of toxigenic in Korean triticale. The pathogen of triticale that cause Fusarium head blight were isolated from five different triticale cultivars that cultivated in Suwon Korea at 2021 year. The 72 candidate were classified as a Fusarium asiaticum by morphology analysis and by ITS1, TEF-1α gene sequence analysis. And the results of pathogenicity with 72 isolates on seedling triticale, 71 isolates were showed disease symptom. Also, seven out of 71 Fusarium isolates were inoculated on the wheat, to test the pathogenicity on the different host. The results showed more low pathogenicity on the wheat than triticale. The results of analysis of toxin type with 72 isolates, 64.6% isolates were produced nivalenol type toxin and other 4.6% and 30.8% isolates were produce 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol, respectively. To select fungicide for control, the 72 Fusarium isolates were cultivated on the media that containing four kinds fungicide. The captan, hexaconazole, and difenoconazole·propiconazole treated Fusarium isolates were not showed resistance response against each fungicide. However, six isolates out of 72 isolates, showed resistance response to fludioxonil. This study is first report that F. asiaticum causes Fusarium head blight disease of triticale in Korea.

Pepper genetic resources consisting of introductions from Mexico and Nepal and susceptible and resistant controls were tested for resistance to gray leaf spot and to bacterial spot by serially inoculating the two disease pathogens, Stemphylium spp. first and Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria next, with application of fungicide after evaluation of resistance to gray leaf spot first. KC866, KC872, KC902, KC905 were resistant to gray leaf spot in addition to known resistance sources, KC43, KC47, KC220, KC319, KC320, KC380. KC897 was on the top of the resistance sources list, even better than KC177(163192), and was followed by KC889, KC896, KC898, all of which were introductions from Nepal.

Citrus melanose, caused by Diaporthe citri, has been one of the serious diseases, and chemical fungicides were used for protection in many citrus orchards of Jeju Island. Establishing a disinfectant resistance management system and reducing pesticide usage would be important for contributing to safe agricultural production. In this study, monitoring of chemical resistance was performed with 40 representative D. citri isolates from many citrus orchards in Jeju Island. Four different fungicides, kresoxim-methyl, benomyl, fluazinam, and prochloraz manganese, with seven different concentrations were tested in vitro by growing the mycelium of the fungal isolates on the artificial medium potato dextrose agar. Among the 40 fungal isolates, 12 isolates were investigated as resistant to kresoxim-methyl which could not inhibit the mycelium growth to more than 50%. Especially isolate NEL21-2 was also resistant against benomyl, whose hyphae grew well even on the highest chemical concentration. However, any chemical resistance of fungal isolates was found against neither fluazinam nor prochloraz manganese. On the other hand, in vivo bio-testing of some resistant isolates was performed against both kresoxim-methyl and benomyl on young citrus leaves. Typical melanose symptoms developed on the citrus leaves pre-treated with both agrochemicals after inoculation with the resistant isolates. However, no or less symptoms were observed when the susceptible isolates were inoculated. Based on these results, it was suggested that some resistant isolates of D. citri occurred against both systemic fungicides, which may be valuable to build a strategy for protecting citrus disease.
The mycelial growth of some mushrooms was inhibited by benomyl treatment. The $ED_{50}$ of benomyl to that of Pleurotus spp., Agaricus bisporus and Flammulina velutipes was 25ppm, 50ppm and 200ppm, respectively, which indicates the former was the most sensitive to the fungicide. The mycelial growth of mushrooms growing on artificial media amended by benomyl was increased when they were cultured successively 5 times and 10 times on the media. The increasing rate of that of each mushroom was the highest at the concentration of $ED_{50}$ of benomyl. The mycelial growth of P. ostreatus was increased progressively as the number of successive culturing increased, while that of P. florida and A. bisporus was increased until they were cultured successively up to 5 times and 7 times, respectively, but they were decreased after that. Mutant sectors of mycelia were induced by successive treatment of benomyl. Mutant sectors of P. ostreatus appeared earlier than those of P. florida and all of them were induced earlier on the media of low contration of benomyl than on that of high concentration. The mycelia of mutant sectors induced by benomyl treatment grow faster than those of mother colony treated with benomyl successively, but there was no difference in resistance against the fungicide between them. The increase of mycelial growth of the mushrooms culturing successively on media containing benomyl indicated that they might obtain the resistance against benomyl.

It was the investigated the response to metalaxyl of Phytophthora capsici isolates collected in 2005 and 2006. With effective concentrations ($EC_{50}$) of metalaxyl causing 50% growth inhibition, resistance baseline was determined as more than $1.0\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. Based on the resistance baseline, isolation frequency (%) of P. capsici resistant to metalaxyl was 29.0% and 218% in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Among the isolates of P. capsici obtained in 2006, the isolation was variable; 33.3% in Chungnam, 26.3% in Chungbuk and 11.1% in Gyeongbuk. Two isolates of metalaxyl-sensitive (MS) and too isolates of metalaxyl-resistant (MR) P. capsici were selected and then used to investigate the activity of metalaxyl to their development stages. Even though there was a difference in mycelial growth inhibition by metalaxyl between MS and MR isolates, the fungicide was not active or nearly to sporangium germination, zoospore release, and zoospore germination of both MS and MR isolates. However, the fungicide showed weak activity against sporangium germination and zoospore release of P. capsici, not related with its resistance. Also, it was not inhibitory to zoospore germination of both resistant and sensitive isolates. In a greenhouse test, it showed 100% of control value against P. capsici 06-86 sensitive to metalaxyl, when it was applied by soil-drenching at $25\;{\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. However, 06-130 and 16-155 resistant to metalaxyl showed less than 20% of control value.
