In recent years, crowdfunding, a new method for funding a project of individuals or organizations by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, has been growing up simultaneously with diffusion of social media. Crowdfunding is on early stage in Korea, and the majority of projects are focused on cultural or art categories. There is high proportion of projects that have social value in start-up sector. The study shows that it were the differences in trustworthiness and activeness of project creator, value of reward and efforts for interactivity that have great effects on success of the project. Whereas there was no significant influence of societal contribution and sponsor engagement. The thesis provides success strategies of crowdfunding for start-up as follows. Firstly, creator of the project should make support base by enthusiastic activites before launching funding project. Secondly, there should be contents that can easily show the process of business development in the project information. Thirdly, there must be appropriate design of rewards for each amounts of support money. Finally, efforts for interactivity, such as frequent updates, response for comments and SNS posting, should be followed after the launch of the project.

  • Though South Korea has world-class volume of Venture Capital Investment, as a share of GDP, early stage venture investments are still short, and investments are concentrated in high technology area and Capital area. Because of the high barriers to entry of the new IPO and M&A market, the venture capital companies undergo difficulties in profit. High-tech ventures face difficulties in raising money from outside investors due to information asymmetry between venture investors and venture companies. To resolve these problems, developed countries's government make a co-funding investment scheme with private sectors and design incentive mechanism such as receiving knowledge of the reputable investors' joint venture. Korean central and local government can benchmark those of things. For example, the expansion of the investment volume with private sector, region-specific matching fund and venture capital's exit path diversification such as M&A through the establishment of a business venture eco-system. At the same time, venture companies are to make an efforts to enhance the ability of screening for venture companies and the value for investment activities through a joint venture investments.

  • Because most of feminist researches on the media have been primarily concerned with women's roles and representations in main scream mass media, women's media as alternative media remain remarkably understudied. Thus this study explores women's media in relation to women's movement during the period of US military Government in Korea. There were five women's newspapers which were means of women's movement in this period. However, failing to attract enough appropriate revenues and resort to fund-raising, women's newspapers could nor be published a long time. And women's newspapers as means of women's movement had the defects in women's representations because women's movement lacked a certain degree of autonomy from the male-dominated political activities. In other words, women's newspapers maintained women's participation in political areas, but on the other hand they emphasized the women's role as mother and housewife.

  • Korea is becoming a model country for the developing countries' agricultural and rural development. Drawing implications for Vietnam from Korea's experiences can help make development strategies and policies for other developing countries including North Korea as well as for Vietnam itself. Vietnam is facing an inefficiency in agricultural production and the gap between urban and rural growth has been widening. Farm sizes per household are small and farmlands are scattered. Diversification in rural industry is very restricted. To attack these problems, investment is urgently needed for rural infrastructure building as well as agricultural structure adjustment. In the process of rural development, there have been also encountered such problems as financial procurement, community's spontaneous participation, manpower development for adjusting to industrial structural change. Korea's experiences may be helpful for establishing rural development strategies and policies in Vietnam. Benchmark scopes can go beyond Saemaul Undong in 1970s. Korea's pre- and post-Saemaul Undong era as well as the Saemaul Undong era can be referred. In the wake of globalization, Vietnam has not only experienced compressed rapid economic growth but also encountered policy tasks to eradicate poverty, to realize self-reliance and income increase, and to lessen urban-rural development gap, at the same time. Korea's experiences show that priority needs to be put on the establishment of national and rural development strategies based on Vietnam-specific conditions, utilization of village's resources including community tradition and social capital, fund raising for rural development, farmland development and mobilization, production and living infrastructure building, technology transfer for farmers and vocational training for new job seekers.

  • In this paper the relationship between the business performance and the importance perception of management activities is analyzed. The analysis is conducted by dividing the analysis time-frame into before and after the economic recession. In addition, we consider the type of industry and the type of government support policy that the companies participate in. According to the results, the management activities, such as the introduction of domestic external technologies and the release of new products, are to have a significant impact on business performance for both before and after the economic recession. The introduction of foreign external technologies is significant before the economic recession, but after the economic recession the fund raising activity is shown to be significant. Management activities that affect business performance of large/small businesses, IT/non-IT companies, high/low R&D firms and the companies participated in various government support policies are different. In other words, it can be found that the support of management activities that can enhance performance should be done in an appropriate way considering the characteristics of the company rather than being provided to all companies in common.

  • As information technologies are applied to the libraries in information society, the library services have been changing its feature. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore and to establish a paradigm of the library services in information society. It is hypothesized that the application of information technologies leads to the change of the library services in information society. To prove the hypothesis, the data were collected from various research results carried out in the developed countries and by observing various libraries where the information technologies are extensively applied. The findings are as follows: 1. As information technologies are applied to the library, many new library services emerge for the society. 2. As the electronic data replace the paper data, the collection of a library becomes the collection of the libraries in the world. Therefore, the accessibility to the information network is more important than to own information in the library. Librarians select various electronic data according to the library policy which distinguishes their own library collection from others. The policy also solves the various problems related to weeding and preserving library collection. And the use of CD-ROM selection tools enable library users to select their own data. Now, the censorship becomes the concems of the library users, not the library. 3. The catalogs are reorganized for the electronic data for the international use. The most important information in the catalog is the location of the data and the multi access to the data are necessary. 4. As the information technologies are applied in book selection, cataloguing, information retreival and circulation, the library users are enable to service themselves in the library. And most of the routine works related to the information service are taken over by the library staffs. Professional librarians engage in user education, information marketing and fund raising. 5. Public libraries in information society serves those who have no access to the information. They help the illiterates. patients in the hospital, prisoners, and homeless in the city. Therefore, the information technologies enhance the role of librarians in professional work in the library as well as in the information society.
