Objective: The aims of this study were to examine whether a passive stretch stimulus by means of a functional appliance induces changes in the fiber composition of masticatory muscles and whether these changes are similar to the changes in stretched limb muscle fibers by using RT-PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemical assays. Methods: Five male New Zealand White rabbits were fitted with a prefabricated inclined plane on the maxillary central incisors to force the mandible forward (- 2 mm) and downward (- 4 mm). Further, 1 hind limb was extended and constrained with a cast so that the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) was stretched when the animal used the limb. The animals were sacrificed aft er 1 week and the masseter, lateral pterygoid, and EDL were processed and compared with those from control animals (n = 3). Results: The stretched EDL had a significantly higher percentage of slow fibers, whereas the stretched masticatory muscles did not show changes in the composition of the major contractile proteins aft er 7 days. Conclusions: The transition of fiber phenotypes in response to a stretch stimulus may take longer in the masticatory muscles than in the limb muscles.

With the development of digital technology and the advent of the concept of well-being, kitchen will be worked as the center of housing and turn into multi-functional space. So a research is requested to consider the users' needs for kitchen based on their life characteristics. The purpose of this study is to find out housing lifestyles, and to search and analyze users' needs for kitchen planning according to their lifestyles. And then plans for kitchen design are suggested. The findings are as follows. (1) Housing lifestyles of users living in apartment are categorized into the type of network and trial & development, pursing the new environment and technology, the type of high quality and convenience, seeking the way to make housework easy and comfortable, the type of housework oriented and the type of unspecification. (2) The type of network and trial & development requests home automation, confrontation layout of counter-top, the type of high quality and convenience requests enlargement of kitchen space, the newest appliance and kitchen island, the type of housework oriented requests the efficiency of space utilization with a counter-top style table, and the type of unspecification asks space for study and office work. All of the types have needs for water use space, larger storing space and a Kimchi refrigerator.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to review main symptoms of outpatient in Lee young Jun clinics who developed the functional cerebrospinal therapy and to investigate the therapeutic effects on one time application of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST). Methods: Patients who visited at least twice at an oriental medical clinic and treated with FCST were included. They were asked to write 216 numeric rating scale (NRS)-based questionnaire about degree of various symptoms at each visit. Prevalence and degree decrease of all reported symptoms were analyzed. Results: Total of 744 outpatients were included. There were fourteen symptoms of which more than half of all patients commonly complained. All symptoms were significantly reduced after one administration of FCST. About four to seven percent of patients reported at least five-point reduction on NRS in each symptom after FCST. Conclusions: FCST might have potential immediate effect on not only TMJ related symptoms, but also diverse kinds of pain, psychological symptoms, and fatigue-related symptoms.

Anterior openbite is defined as the lack of contacts between the functional occluding teeth on vertical line at centric occlusion and classified into functional and skeletal anterior openbite based on its causes and characteristics. In mixed dentition, habit control and the elimination of abnormal perioral muscle function and moving the vertical direction development to the sagittal direction of the mandible by the functional appliance is a goal of treatment. This study presents the effective interception of oral habit by the tongue crib and functional-fixed treatment and treatment response of openbite related to tongue thrust habit.

Three patients who had Angle's Class II Division 1 malocclusion were treated by Bioprogressive therapy. In spite of their occlusions, the 3 patients did not have any skeletal problems. Their skeletal patterns were within normal range. So headgear or functional appliance therapy were not considered. During the treatment procedure, the most noteworthy results of Bioprogressive therapy were the effect of the Utility arch to intrude 4 mandibular anterior teeth, the effect of the Cuspid retractor in cuspid retraction and the effect of the Double delta retraction arch in the retraction of 4 anterior teeth. The whole treatment results in these cases which were achieved by Bioprogressive therapy were very favorable and the efficiency of this therapy was very excellent.

Recently trends of home appliance has been changed in house and the demand for functional refrigerator has been increased. Power consumption of refrigerator accounts for a large proportion in consumer electronics. Also, compressor accounts for most of the power consumption in refrigerator parts. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-refrigerator system with single compressor & condenser fan in order to reduce energy. To verify the availability of the proposed multi refrigerant system, integration experiment is carried out.

Inverted maxillary incisor is a state in which the maxillary incisor rotates to the upward position. The present report provides two examples of correction of inverted maxillary incisors with surgical intervention & orthodontic appliance. Through surgical exposure & direct bonding of lingual button, the central incisor were brought into proper eruption path with elastic traction. The case 1 & 2 were both treated successfully. The results showed the good position of treated teeth and satisfactory esthetics and adequate width of keratinized gingiva were achieved. Careful differential diagnosis procedure is needed in order to avoid dissatisfactory results and the treatment approaches taken in this case report provided an esthetic and functional results.

Long face patients are characterized by excessive anterior facial height, lip incompetence at rest, anterior open bite, and gummy smile. A major problem is an inferior rotation of the posterior maxilla and upper molars. Long face patients have been the most difficult for orthodontist to treat successfully. In growing patients, the methods for impeding excessive vertical growth have been used high pull head gear, functional appliance, and combined type of two. One significant improvement comes from using a full arch splint to deliver force to the maxilla more vertically. In adult patients, orthodontic camouflage treatment is biomechanically difficult and doesn't work when the problem is primarilly vertical. Surgical maxillary impaction provides a means for successfully treating most of problems. Also, superior reposition of the chin via a mandibular inferior border osteotomy is effective in decrease of lower anterior facial height and correction of the poor chin-lip balance. Post-surgical stability and the physiologic response are good. The coordinated orthodontic and surgical treatment is necessary for solution the difficult skeletal deformity.
