A study on the speech feature extraction based on the hearing model (청각 모델에 기초한 음성 특징 추출에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the method that extracts the speech feature using the hearing model through signal precessing techniques. The proposed method includes following procedure ; normalization of the short-time speech block by its maximum value, multi-resolution analysis using the discrete wavelet transformation and re-synthesize using thediscrete inverse wavelet transformation, differentiation after analysis and synthesis, full wave rectification and integration. In order to verify the performance of the proposed speech feature in the speech recognition task, korean digita recognition experiments were carried out using both the dTW and the VQ-HMM. The results showed that, in case of using dTW, the recognition rates were 99.79% and 90.33% for speaker-dependent and speaker-independent task respectively and, in case of using VQ-HMM, the rate were 96.5% and 81.5% respectively. And it indicates that the proposed speech feature has the potentials to use as a simple and efficient feature for recognition task.

  • In electromagnetic transient analysis, complex transmission system should be modelled in detail. But in large system, this full representation of power transmission system has a big burden in many sides such as computation time, modelling efforts, etc. It is very required, therefore, in electromagnetic transients studies to represent parts of a complete system in a reduced or an equivalent form. This paper develops the method from which system equivalents may be derived. The suggested method is of an essentially transient form, and allows travelling wave interaction between the equivalent and explicit transmission network to be modelled.

Miniaturized Development of Microwave Power Divider Using High-Tc Superconductors (고온초전도체를 이용한 마이크로파 전력분배기의 소형화 개발)

  • In this paper, We report the miniaturization of superconducting microwave power dividers based on lumped element equivalent circuits. To do this, we analyzed a conventional branch-type power divider by using an ABCD matrix under even and odd mode excitation. Then, we calculated each lumped element impedance throughout this analysis of a transmission line matrix. Also we simulated our equivalent circuits made of lumped elements by using a full wave analysis, em Sonnet. Our deign of microwave power divider based on simulated results was fabricated on high-$T_c$ superconducting thin films deposited on MgO substrate. Experimental results were reported in terms of bandwidth, center frequency, and phase difference between $S_{21}$ and $S_{31}$. We confirm that our design will be useful in the future microwave power systum.

Measurements of Three-Dimensional Droplet Velocities Using the Holographic System (홀로그래피를 이용한 분무 액적의 3차원 속도 측정)

  • The Holographic Particle Velocimetry system can be a promising optical tool for the measurements of three dimensional particle velocities. In this study, the holographic panicle velocimetry system was used to measure the sizes and velocities of droplets formed by a commercial full cone spray nozzle. Uncertainty analysis was performed to identify the sources of all relevant errors and to evaluate their magnitude. The droplet velocities ranged from 10.3 to 13.3 m/s with average uncertainty of ${\pm}1.6m/s$, which is ${\pm}14%$ of the mean droplet velocity. Compared with relatively small uncertainties of velocity components in the normal direction to the optical axis, the uncertainty of the optical axis component is ${\pm}3.6m/s$. This is due to the long depth of field of droplet images in the optical axis, which is inherent feature of holographic system using forward-scattering object wave of particles.

  • This paper presents a new method for analyzing the maximum efficiency of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system with multiple n resonators. The method is based on ABCD matrices and allows transformation of the WPT system with multiple n resonators into a single two-port network system. The general maximum efficiency equation of a WPT system with multiple n resonators is derived using the ABCD matrix. Use of this equation allows placement of the relay resonators for maximum efficiency even though they are asymmetrical. The general maximum efficiency equation and the method of the optimum placement are verified by a full wave simulation. The results show that the method is useful for the analysis of a WPT system with relay resonators.

  • We propose a novel method for the beam focusing by a single subwavelength metal slit surrounded by chirped dielectric surface gratings. In the proposed method, the period of each grating is chirped to make a focused beam at the desired position. Design of the grating structures for optimal beam focusing and the analysis of the field distribution are conducted based on the rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA). It is shown that the focused beam is formed at 1.5${\mu}m$ from the metal substrate and its full width at half maximum (FWHM) is 411nm.

  • It is possible to design the high performance, integration and low cost radio frequency components by using LTCC(Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology. But there is a critical point to design the spiral inductor because of crosstalk effects. of the crosstalk effect of the spiral inductor are investigated using full-wave analysis of the FEM(Finite Element Method) in this paper. The results show that input power of the spiral inductor are coupled from 0.1% to 10% above 3GHz. Therefore, we should consider the crosstalk effects when we design the LTCC.

The Study on New Radiating Structure with Multi-Layered Two-Dimensional Metallic Disk Array for Shaping flat-Topped Element Pattern (구형 빔 패턴 형성을 위한 다층 이차원 원형 도체 배열을 갖는 새로운 방사 구조에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, a new radiating structure with a multi-layered two-dimensional metallic disk array was proposed for shaping the flat-topped element pattern. It is an infinite periodic planar array structure with metallic disks finitely stacked above the radiating circular waveguide apertures. The theoretical analysis was in detail performed using rigid full-wave analysis, and was based on modal representations for the fields in the partial regions of the array structure and for the currents on the metallic disks. The final system of linear algebraic equations was derived using the orthogonal property of vector wave functions, mode-matching method, boundary conditions and Galerkin's method, and also their unknown modal coefficients needed for calculation of the array characteristics were determined by Gauss elimination method. The application of the algorithm was demonstrated in an array design for shaping the flat-topped element patterns of $\pm$20$^{\circ}$ beam width in Ka-band. The optimal design parameters normalized by a wavelength for general applications are presented, which are obtained through optimization process on the basis of simulation and design experience. A Ka-band experimental breadboard with symmetric nineteen elements was fabricated to compare simulation results with experimental results. The metallic disks array structure stacked above the radiating circular waveguide apertures was realized using ion-beam deposition method on thin polymer films. It was shown that the calculated and measured element patterns of the breadboard were in very close agreement within the beam scanning range. The result analysis for side lobe and grating lobe was done, and also a blindness phenomenon was discussed, which may cause by multi-layered metallic disk structure at the broadside. Input VSWR of the breadboard was less than 1.14, and its gains measured at 29.0 GHz. 29.5 GHz and 30 GHz were 10.2 dB, 10.0 dB and 10.7 dB, respectively. The experimental and simulation results showed that the proposed multi-layered metallic disk array structure could shape the efficient flat-topped element pattern.

Shock-Fitting in Kinematic Wave Modeling (운동파 이론의 충격파 처리기법)

  • The finite difference method and the method of characteristics are frequently used for the numerical analysis of kinematic wave model. Truncation errors cause the peak discharge dissipated in the solution from the finite difference method. The peak discharge is conserved in the solution from the finite difference method. The peak discharge is conserved in the solution from the method of characteristics, however, the shock may deteriorates the numerical solution. In this paper, distinctive features of each scheme are investigated for the numerical analysis of kinematic wave model, and applicability of shock fitting algorithm such as Propagating Shock Fitting and Approximated Shock Fitting methods are studied. Propagating Shock Fitting method appears to treat shock properly, however, it failed to fit the shock appropriately when applied to a sudden inflow change in a long river. Approximate Shock Sitting method, which uses finer elements, is found to be more proper shock-fitting than the Propagating Shock Fitting method. Comparisons are made between two solution from the kinematic wave theory with shock fitting and full dynamic wave theory, and the results are discussed.
