The skin is divided into three parts: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous fat, and the stratum corneum, which is located at the top of the epidermis, acts as a barrier that prevents drug delivery. Nanoemulsions are known to be effective in transdermal delivery of drugs through intercellular lipids because of their unique small particle size. In this study, phase inversion temperature (PIT) nanoemulsion containing α-bisabolol was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) for effective skin absorption of α-bisabolol. As a preliminary experiment, the 25-2 fractional factorial design method and the 23 full factorial design method were performed. Box-Behnken design was performed based on the results of the factorial design method. The content of surfactant (6.3~12.6%), co-surfactant (5.2~7.8%) and α-bisabolol (0.5~5.0%) were used as factors, and the dependent variable was the particle size of the nanoemulsion. PIT nanoemulsion optimization was performed according to the RSM results, and as a result, the optimal nanoemulsion formulation conditions were predicted to be 10.4% surfactant content, 6.3% co-surfactant content, and 5.0% α-bisabolol content. As a result of the skin absorption test, the final skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was 35.11±1.01%, and the final skin absorption rate of the general emulsion as a control was 28.25±1.69%, confirming that the skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was better.
Flow through a scaled horizontal axis marine current turbine was numerically simulated after validation and the turbine design was optimized. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code Ansys-CFX 16.1 for numerical modeling, an in-house blade element momentum (BEM) code for analytical modeling and an in-house surrogate-based optimization (SBO) code were used to find an optimal turbine design. The blade-pitch angle (${\theta}$) and the number of rotor blades (NR) were taken as design variables. A single objective optimization approach was utilized in the present work. The defined objective function was the turbine's power coefficient ($C_P$). A $3{\times}3$ full-factorial sampling technique was used to define the sample space. This sampling technique gave different turbine designs, which were further evaluated for the objective function by solving the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS). Finally, the SBO technique with search algorithm produced an optimal design. It is found that the optimal design has improved the objective function by 26.5%. This article presents the solution approach, analysis of the turbine flow field and the predictability of various surrogate based techniques.

In this study, the optimal feed system and process conditions that can simultaneously minimize each warpage occurring in the two shape features of the 2P Header HSG, a connector part for automobiles, were determined through injection molding simulation analysis. First, we defined each warping deformation of the two features geometrically and quantified them approximately using the injection molding simulation data. For design optimization, a full factorial experiment was conducted considering the feed system, resin temperature, and packing pressure as design variables, and a follow-up experiment was conducted based on the analysis of the average warpage. In this study, an optimal design was generated considering both the warpage result and resin-saving effect. In the optimal design, the warpages of the two shape features were predicted to be 0.18 and 0.29 mm, and these warpages were found to meet the allowable limit of warpage, which is 0.3 mm, for part assembly.

An inverse self-iterative procedure is developed to estimate layer moduli of 3 layered flexible pavement structures from FWD deflection basins. The theoretical deflection basins of pavement structures obtained by full factorial design are used for the parametric study on the characteristics of deflection basins and the regression analysis. The factorial design is performed for asphalt pavement structures with stabilized base layer and granular base layer, respectively. The initially assumed layer moduli by regression equations and relations between the rate of change of moduli and deflections are used in the procedure to ensure efficiency and accuracy of self-iterative model. The SINELA computer program is used for inverse self-iterative applications to determine theoretical responses. The computer program of this procedure is coded for personal computers and is verified through numerical model tests.

An inverse self-iterative procedure is developed to determine layer moduli which are significant for the structural evaluation of pavements in developing rational and analytical rehabilitation technique. Falling weight deflectometer(FWD) is adopted as a non-destructive testing(NDT)device. The layer elastic theory is used to interpret NDT data. The theoretical deflection basins of pavement structures obtained by full factorial design are used for a parametric study on the characteristics of deflection basins and regression analyses. Regression equations to estimate layer moduli of flexible pavements are proposed through the regression analyses of theoretical deflection basins. The relationships between the rate of change of moduli and deflections are developed for the efficient iteration. An inverse self-iterative procedure to ensure the accuracy of the layer moduli is proposed. Validity and applicability of the developed procedure are verified through various numerical model tests.

The two-level full factorial and mixture design were used to screen ingredient type and to investigate the effects of ingredients on properties of surimi gel from jack mackerel using measurements of breaking forces, deformation values and color. The addition of starch decreased breaking force significantly (p<0.05), but did not affect deformation. The bovine plasma protein (BPP) among non-muscle proteins increased a breaking force and deformation value. However, the dried egg white increased slightly a breaking force, and decreased greatly a deformation value. The breaking force of gel was increased, but deformation value did not change significantly (p<0.05) with adding BPP. The whiteness of gel was slightly improved with the addition of corn starch and BPP. At 78% moisture, the optimum ratios of ingredients were 89.5∼90.0% for alkali surimi, 4.6∼6.0% for corn starch and 4.3∼5.4% for BPP to obtain above 110g for a breaking force, 4.2 mm for a deformation, and 22.5 for a whiteness.

Computational fluid dynamic simulation based on the ABAQUS software was conducted to observe the inside flow of slot-die nozzle. The slot-die nozzle was modeled as 3-dimensional structure and three significant parameters were determined: inlet velocity of fluid, reservoir angles, number of strips none of which have been mentioned previously in the literature. The design of experiment, full factorial analysis was performed within determined design and process levels. The simulation result shows the inlet fluid velocity is most significant factor for the flows of inside nozzle. As an interaction effect, reservoir angle is closely related with number of strip that should address when the nozzle is designed. Moreover, the optimized values of each determined parameter were obtained as 35 mm/s of inlet velocity, 3 of strip numbers, and $22^{\circ}$ of reservoir angles. Based on these parameters, the outlet velocity was obtained as 0.53% of outlet uniformity which is improved from 8.67% of nominal results.

Computer simulation models are in general quite complex and time-consuming to run, and therefore, a simpler meta-model is usually constructed for further analysis. In this paper, JANUS, a war-game simulator, is used to describe a certain tank combat situation. Then, second-order response surface and artificial neural network meta-models are developed using the data from eight different experimental designs. Relative performances of the developed meta-models are compared in terms of the mean squared error of prediction. Computational results indicate that, for the given problem, the second-order response surface meta-model generally performs better than the neural network, and the orthogonal array-based Latin hypercube design(LHD) or LHD using maximin distance criterion may be recommended.
Purpose: As a modern distribution channel, the growth of e-commerce has brought more competitive pressures on e-marketplace, making trust and loyalty become top priority. As one of many sources of trust and loyalty issues, understanding the effect of careless marketing communications on consumers' perception is critical. This study examines the effect of careless marketing communications (e.g. misspellings, incomplete information) in website on consumers' trust toward and confidence in purchasing a product from an e-commerce. Research design and methodology: An experimental research design (with two experimental studies) was used in to test the hypotheses. Study 1 employs a single-factor design and study 2 employs a 2x2, full-factorial, between-subjects design. Results: Results of the two experimental studies (Study 1, n = 60; Study 2, n = 140) demonstrate that simple mistakes significantly decrease consumers' trust toward an e-commerce and their confidence to purchase from the e-commerce. The effect is found to be significant in the case of high-involvement products; whereas no effect is found in low-involvement products. Conclusions: E-commerce relies heavily on carefully crafted marketing communications to establish consumers' trust and confidence. These studies confirm the equal importance of distribution and communication in maintaining consumers' trust and sustainability of the business.
The purpose of this study is to inquire into the influence of appearance cues on the intellectual impression formations, whether there are differen-ces in the impression formation between the case which the appearance is partially percepted and the case wholely percepted. The study consists of the experiment of the factorial design with 5 independent variables of Face (intellectual and social), Hair Style (intellec-tual and social), Clothing Style (intellectual and social), Textile Pattern(single, color, dot, and stri-pe), and Presentation Level of stimuli (upper-half and full-length). The outcomes of study are as follows : 1) The intellectual impression formation was influenced by face, clothing style, and textile pat-tern, but clothing style and textile pattern were more influential than face. When the models with intellectual face wore in intellectual clothing style, they gave more additional intellectual impression. And when intellectual clothing was in single color, it conveyed more intellectual impression. Hair style had no main effect but it influenced on the impression formation through interaction with other variables. 2) There were differences in the formation of the intellectual impressions between the case the appearance was partially percepted and the case wholely percepted. The case of full-lenth pressen-tation was more influential than that of upper-half presentation.
