동해석을 이용한 연료펌프의 캠 형상 설계 (Cam Profile Design of a Fuel Pump Using Dynamic Analysis)

  • This work focuses on reducing the noise and vibration levels of an LPi fuel pump, which are generated from the dynamic motions of pump elements and non-uniform flow of fuel. The noise and vibration levels increase as the revolution speed of the cam goes up. The fuel pump consists of five cavity cells, plungers and diaphragms, which are driven by the cam. The optimal design of the cam profile is performed to decrease the accelerations of moving Parts and to obtain a smooth hydraulic force through a dynamic analysis of a cam-plunger mechanism. The cam-Plunger with a cavity is modeled as a 2 degrees of freedom system having non-linear contacts, the cam profile being represented in terms of Fourier series in order to determine the optimal shape of the cam. From the optimized cam Profile, the acceleration of the diaphragm is reduced in $78\%$, the hydraulic force becoming smoother in case that the hydraulic force is rapidly dropped.

  • In order to investigate a characteristic of the behavior of spray pattern in accordance with running conditions for a DI diesel engine, the PLN Injection system with changeable revolution speed of fuel injection cam was set up, and through this, history curves of injection pressure for a similar real DI diesel engine were able to be displayed. Authors visualized and analyzed the sprays at various revolution speed of fuel injection cam, and found out that fuel distributions of the sprays in the low speed condition were bad, fuel with air was injected from the hole of nozzle at the beginning of injection, and wide spray angle at the early stage of injection became narrower with elapsed time, but wider again at the end of injection.

An analysis of the Wi-Ni Carbide Alloy Diffusion Bonding technique in its application for DME Engine Fuel Pump

  • Dimethyl Ether(DME) engine use a highly efficient alternative fuel having a great quantity of oxygen and has a advantage no polluting PM gas. The existing DME fuel cam material is a highly expensive carbide alloy, and it is difficult to take a price advantage. Therefore the study of replacing body area with inexpensive steel material excluding piston shoe and contact area which demands high characteristics is needed. The development of WC-Ni base carbide alloy optimal bonding composition technique was accomplished in this study. To check out the influence of bonding temperature and time, bonding characteristics of sintering temperature was experimented. The hardness of specimen and bonding rate were measured using ultrasound equipment. The bonding state of each condition was excellent, and the thickness of mid-layer, temperature and maintaining time were measured. The mid-layer thickness according to bonding temperature and maintaining time were observed with optical microscope. We analyzed the micro-structural analysis, formation of bonding specimen, wafer fabrication and fuel cam abrasion test. Throughout this study, we confirmed that the fuel cam for DME engine which demands high durability against velocity and pressure is excellent.

연료캠 형상에 따른 PLN 디젤 분사계의 분사특성에 관한 시뮬레이션 (Simulation on the Characteristics of PLN Diesel Injection System by Cam Profile)

  • In this study, in order to investigate the influence of cam profile on the injection rate, the characteristics of injection in PLN (pump - line - nozzle) diesel injection system were simulated. Six types of the profile of fuel cam were used for simulation. The maximum injection pressure and maximum injection rate of initial and end phase were analyzed to demonstrate the characteristics of injection. The mathematical model of the injection system and the computation results were verified by experimental results. Simulation results showed that the maximum injection pressure, maximum injection rate, injection quantity and pressure drop in the end phase were proportional to the velocity of fuel cam during the effective stroke.

대형 디젤 엔진의 연비 향상을 위한 Miller Cam 평가 (Evaluation on a Miller Cam for Improving the Fuel Consumption of a Large Diesel Engine)

  • Miller timing is one of the promising ways which can improve the fuel consumption of internal combustion engines. Indeed, Miller timing employing an early intake valve close is widely applied to large diesel and gas engines to enhance performance and reduce NOx emissions. In this study, performance evaluation is carried out by 1-D cycle simulation in order to estimate the effect of Miller CAM timing before BDC for a 32 L turbocharged diesel engine. To optimize Miller CAM timing, a single stage turbocharger is matched with an early intake valve close since boost pressure is a significant parameter that can control compression work in a turbocharged engine. The engine simulation result shows that there is enough potential to improve fuel consumption rate and also reduce NOx emissions at the same time.Abstract here.

탄성유체윤활해석에 의한 연료 펌프 저널베어링 최적간극 선정 연구 (A Study on the Optimum Clearance Selection of Fuel Pump Journal Bearing with Elasto-hydrodynamic Lubrication Analysis)

  • The electric controlled marine diesel engine has fuel pump generating the high pressurized fuel for fuel injection to combustion chamber via a common rail. Fuel pump consists of a cam-roller system. Journal bearing installed between a roller and a cam-roller pin is subjected to fluctuating heavy and instant loads by cam lift. First, Kinematic analysis is carried out to predict bearing loads during one cycle acting on the journal bearing. Second, flexible multi-body dynamic analysis and transient elasto-hydrodynamic(EHD) lubrication analysis for journal bearing considering elastic deformation of cam-roller pin, roller and bearing are conducted using AVL EXCITE/PU software to predict lubrication performance. The clearance ratio and journal groove shape providing lubrication oil are important parameter in bearing design having good performance and can be changed easier than other design parameters such as diameter, width, oil supply pressure and bearing material grade. Generally, journal bearing performance is represented by the minimum oil film thickness(MOFT) and peak oil film pressure(POFP). As well as the traditional design parameters(MOFT, POFP), in this study, temperature rise of lubrication oil is also evaluated through the side leakage flow of supplied oil. By the evaluating MOFT, POFP and temperature rise, the optimum bearing clearance ratio is decided.

  • 선박 운항의 경제성, 효율성 및 편리성을 높이면서 친환경 선박에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 이 중 하나가 전자제어식 디젤 엔진의 개발이다. 자동차용 소형에서는 이미 전자제어식 디젤기관이 주류를 이루고 있으나 선박에서는 안정성 및 신뢰성의 문제로 보급에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 전자제어식과 캠식 엔진이 동시에 탑재되어 있는 한국해양대학교의 실습선 한바다호의 주기관을 이용하여 두 엔진의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 전자제어식 디젤엔진의 연료소비율이 저감되었으며 특히 저부하에서의 성능이 보다 우수하였다. 또한 연료소비율에 있어서 해상 시운전에서 훨씬 효과적이었다.

  • 선박운항의 경제성, 효율성 및 편리성을 높이면서 친환경적인 선박에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 추진되고 있는데, 그 중 한 예로 전자제어식 디젤엔진의 개발을 들 수 있다. 그러나 전자제어식 엔진으로 추진되는 선박은 안전성과 신뢰성이 우려되고 있어 이들을 선박에 널리 보급하는데 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 전자제어식과 캠구동식 연료분사시스템을 탑재하고 있는 선박의 주기관을 이용하여 시스템별 배기성능을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 전자제어식의 경제적 운항 모드에서는 캠구동식과 비슷한 배기특성을 나타내었지만, 유해가스 저배출 모드의 100% 부하상태에서는 NOx를 100ppm 이상, HC의 경우 50% 부하상태에서는 10~20ppm을, 25% 부하상태에서는 35~40ppm을 캠구동식에 비해 저감시킨다. 연료소비율에 있어서는 25% 부하상태에서 압축압력을 캠 구동식에 비해 200bar 이상 증가시킨 700bar로 유지할 때 7g/kWh 정도 저감되었다.

상용 CAM시스템을 활용한 금형 형상부(CORE/CAVITY)의 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Machining of Die Profile Using the CAM System)

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate about the machining of profile (core/cavity) of mold die using the commercial CAM system. Recently the requirement of the light weight and high performance of automobiles has Increased. The weight of the automobile is very important in the viewpoint of the fuel and traveling performance. The optimal design technique, material technique, the process design for parts and specially, die machining technique need to be developed for increasing productivity and reducing production time of the automobile parts. In this study, the effect of machining condition on precision of die profile is investigated by experimental observation and analysis. The results will be reflected for development of the precision die of the automobile.
