  • This paper presents a study on successive approximation measurement of mechanical parameters for motor control system. At the first step of servo system installation, control system gain tuning is troublesome work. Recently, auto-tuning method of motion controller for motor drive system is based on parameter measurement and identification. On the case of first order mechanical system (mechanical parameters are modified by simple inertia and friction), it is necessary for good response to get the accurate measurement or identification of the mechanical parameters. In this paper, novel method applies the binary successive approximation measurement to the inertia and friction coefficient. Computer simulation and experiment for the proposed method will show verification of accuracy and usefulness.

기계구동계의 손상상태 모니터링을 위한 신경회로망의 적용 (Applicaion of Neural Network for Machine Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis)

  • The morphologies of the wear particles are directly indicative of wear process occuring in the machine. The analysis of wear particle morphology can therefore provide very early detection of a fault and can also ofen facilitate a dignosis. For this work, the neural network was applied to identify friction coefficient through four shape parameters (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) of wear debris generated from the machine. The averages of these parameters were used as inputs to the network. It is shown that collect identification of friction coefficient depends on the ranges of these shape parameters learned. The various kinds of the wear debris had a different pattern characteristics and recognized relation between the friction condition and materials very well by neural network. We discuss how the network determines difference in wear debris feature, and this approach can be applied for machine condition monitoring and fault diagnosis.

신경회로망에 의한 유압구동 부재의 마찰계수 추정 에 관한 연구 (A Study on Friction Coefficient Prediction of Hydraulic Driving Members by Neural Network)

  • Wear debris can be collected from the lubricants of operating machinery and its morphology is directly related to the fiction condition of the interacting materials from which the wear particles originated in lubricated machinery. But in order to predict and estimate working conditions, it is need to analyze the shape characteristics of wear debris and to identify. Therefore, if the shape characteristics of wear debris is identified by computer image analysis and the neural network, The four parameter (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) of wear debris are used as inputs to the network and learned the friction. It is shown that identification results depend on the ranges of these shape parameters learned. The three kinds of the wear debris had a different pattern characteristic and recognized the friction condition and materials very well by neural network. We resented how the neural network recognize wear debris on driving condition.

대형 바렛말뚝과 현장타설말뚝의 하중전이특성 파악을 위한 재하시험 (Pile Load test on a Large Barrette Pile and a Bored Pile for the Identification of the Load Transfer Characteristics)

  • In this study, two large pile load tests were performed in the deep sand gravel deposit of Nakdong river basin so that the characteristics of the load transfer was identified. The fully instrumented rectangular barrette pile in the size of $1.5\times3.0m$ and the circular bored pile of the diameter 1.5 m were placed into the ground below 50 m. Under the applied loads of 2,400 tonf and 4,000 tonf, the test results of the load transfer showed the portion of 83% and 93% of the applied loads on the barrette pile and the bored pile, respectively, were supported by the skin friction along the pile shaft. It was revealed that the most of these skin friction mobilized in sand layer underlying clay layer having N-value more than 30 and that the friction per unit area of the bored pile was larger than the friction of barrette pile. However, if embedded in the stiff sand graval layer, the both piles were proven to be sufficient for using as the friction piles.

단자유도계의 자유진동응답을 이용한 점성 및 마찰감쇠의 식별 (Identification of Viscous and Friction Damping Using Free Vibration Response to SDOF System)

  • 본 연구에서는 단자유도계 구조물의 자유진동응답으로부터 점성감쇠와 마찰감쇠의 영향을 정확히 식별하는 방법을 제시하였다. 제안방법을 검증하기 위해서 우선, 감쇠항으로써 점성감쇠와 마찰감쇠를 동시에 고려한 단자유도계의 변위 및 가속도 자유진동응답에 대해서 기술하였다. 다음으로, 서로 인접하는 두 개의 변위 또는 가속도 피크응답의 진폭을 이용하여 점성감쇠 및 마찰감쇠를 식별하는 관계식을 유도하였다. 마지막으로, 단자유도계에 대한 수치해석을 수행하여 유도된 관계식으로부터 점성감쇠와 마찰감쇠를 식별하는 방법을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 부분적으로 알고 있는 비선형 마찰력이 있는 2차 기계시스템에 대한 강인한 적응제어 기법을 제시한다. 제시하는 적응제어 방법은 잡음이나 모델링 에러가 없는 경우에는 위치 및 속도 추적 오차는 점근적으로 영으로 수렴함을 보장하며, 잡음이나 모델링 에러가 있는 경우에는 그동안 발표된 다른 논문의 결과와 달리 디자인 변수를 적절하게 선택하면 위치 및 속도 추적 오차를 원하는 범위까지 줄일 수 있음을 보였으며 이는 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 입증하였다.

  • Structural identification via modal analysis in structural mechanics is gaining popularity in recent years, despite conceptual difficulties connected with its use. This paper is devoted to illustrate both the capabilities and the indeterminacy characterizing structural identification problems even in quite simple instances, as well as the cautions that should be accordingly adopted. In particular, we discuss an application of an identification technique of variational type, based on the measurement of eigenfrequencies and mode shapes, to a steel frame with friction joints under various assembling conditions. Experience has suggested, so as to restrict the indeterminacy frequently affecting identification issues, having resort to all the a priori acknowledged information on the system, to the symmetry and presence of structural elements with equal stiffness, to mention one example, and mindfully selecting the parameters to be identified. In addition, considering that the identification techniques have a local character and correspond to the updating of a preliminary model of the structure, it is important that the analytical model on the first attempt should be adequately accurate. Secondly, it has proved determinant to cross the results of the dynamic identification with tests of other typology, for instance, static tests, so as to fully understand the structural behavior and avoid the indeterminacy due to the nonuniqueness of the inverse problem.

  • In this paper, the magic formula model was applied for a friction damper in a drum-type washing machine. To describe characteristics of the hysteretic damping force, Physical tests were first carried out to get experimental results using an MTS machine. Then, parameters for the magic formula model were determined from the experimental curves. The ADAMS and MATLAB programs were used for the multibody modeling of the damper and process for parameter identification. The model of drum-type washing machine was applied for a dynamic model of friction damper, in which the accuracy of the proposed damper model was verified.

  • Time-delay control with internal model (TDCIM) is the controller for robot manipulators that applies the time-delay estimation and the concept of internal model control (IMC). TDCIM is robust against unknown dynamics and non-linear friction like coulomb friction and static friction. It is simple and computationally efficient. This study presents the relationship between the discrete TDCIM and the discrete PID controller. The PID controller is the most popular control law in the real application. But often the PID controller can be difficult to achieve the desired level of control performance. The result in this study provides a good candidate solution to these situations.

링압축시험에서 역해석을 이용한 유동응력과 마찰상수 결정법 (A method of determining flow stress and friction factor using an inverse analaysis in ring compression test)

  • An inverse analysis been applied to obtain the flow stress of the material. In this method, a ring-shaped specimen is compressed between two flat tools. This procedure employs, as the object function of inverse analysis, the balance of measured loads and reaction forces calculated by using rigid-plastic finite element method. The balance is explicit scalar function of flow stress which is a function of some unknown constants. For minimizing the balance, Newton-Raphon scheme is used. The friction factor, m, between flat tools and the specimen is determined by using friction area-divided method. The proposed method allows an accurate identification by avoiding the usual assumptions made in order to convert experimental measures into stress-strain relation. In this paper, the proposed method is numerically tested. A commercial pure aluminum was selected, as an example, to apply the method and the results are compared with stress-strain relation obtained by experiments.
