Aeroelastic gust response analysis plays an important role in design of aircrafts. For gust response analysis, frequency domain aerodynamics method has been typically used with generalized aerodynamic influence coefficient matrices at various reduced frequencies. However, it cannot be applied to the aeroservoelastic analysis, such as gust alleviation control. Time-domain state space (SS) models must be built. It attacks little attention that gust response analysis relies on continuous gust time-domain input signal in terms of its PSD function. The aim the current study is to provide a reduced-order modeling (ROM) method based on CFD to model gust responses for continuous gust responses for continuou gust inputs in time domain. The paper analyzed the gust response of AGARD445.6 wing subjected to the Dryden gust with ROMs and compared the difference between the rigid structure and elastic one. The results demonstrate that structure elastic effect effect should be considered in the design of aircraft.

Today, high-speed trains enjoy wide acceptance as fast, convenient and environment-friendly means of transportation. However, increase in the speed of the train entails a concomitant increase in the aerodynamic noise, adversely affecting the passenger comfort. At the train speed exceeding 300 km/h, the effects of turbulent flows and vortex sheddding are greatly amplified, contributing to a significant increase in the aerodynamic noise. Drawing a biomimetic analogy from low-noise flight of owl, a method to reduce aerodynamic noise at inter-coach space of high-speed trains is investigated. The proposed method attempts to achieve the noise reduction by modifying the turbulent flow and vortex shedding characteristics at the inter-coach space. To determine the aerodynamic noise at various train speeds, wind tunnel testing and numerical CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation for the basic inter-coach spacing model are carried out, and their results compared. The simulation and experimental results reveal that there are discrete frequency components associated with turbulent air flow at constant intervals in the frequency domain
In mm-VLBI, the quality of observation data is largely affected by atmospheric effect. The most challenging matter is that the phase of correlator output fluctuates rapidly resulting from a variation of atmospheric propagation delay. Consequently, it is demanding to achieve high Signal-to-Noise ratio by integrating data in time domain before calibrating atmospheric delay. However, Korean VLBI Network (KVN) has a unique system to make a 4-frequency (22/43/86/129 GHz) simultaneous observation in mm-wavelength and Frequency Phase Transfer (FPT) calibration technique has effectively removed atmospheric delay in the simultaneous multi-frequency observation of the KVN. For astrometric and astrophysical studies, we evaluated the FPT performance of KVN in various observing conditions. Using the total 38 bright AGNs, we have compared atmospheric conditions such as ground-based weather information, system temperature, atmospheric delay with the calibration results of FPT at 22/43/86/129 GHz during the five experiments in 2013, and quantified its performance in terms of coherence function and Allan variance. We present the analysis result of the relation between the FPT performance and observing conditions.
We present a useful design for a free access mat which supports two frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The free access mat is a sheet-shaped waveguide which consists of a tightly coupled double-layered microstrip resonator array. It provides easy access for devices in short-range wireless communications. Interference is a common problem with conventional applications which use free space transmission. Our proposed wireless access system uses a subsidiary waveguide, the free access mat. Wireless devices are proximately coupled to the free access mat through which the coupled electromagnetic (EM) wave transmits. The arrival domain of the EM wave of an application is therefore limited to an area close to the free access mat. Wireless devices can be coupled to the free access mat at an arbitrary position without contact. We previously presented a free access mat for a single frequency band. This paper presents a free access mat for the two frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The free access mat uses a ring patch resonator array which is easily excited by typical antennas and is resistant to interference. These characteristics are demonstrated by numerical simulation and confirmed by experiment.
In order to mitigate the problems in storage space and network bandwidth for the full CD quality audio, current digital audio is always restricted by sampling rate and bandwidth. This restriction normally results in low sample rate audio or calls for the data compression scheme such as MP3. However, they can only reproduce a lower frequency range than a regular CD quality because of the Nyquist sampling theory. Consequently they lose rich spatial information embedded in high frequency. The propose of this paper is to propose efficient high frequency enhancement of low sample rate audio using n adaptive filtering and DWT analysis and synthesis. The proposed algorithm uses the LMS adaptive algorithm to estimate the missing high frequency contents in DWT domain and it then reconstructs the spectrally enhanced audio by using the DWT synthesis procedure. Several experiments with real speech and audio are performed and compared with other algorithm. From the experimental results of spectrogram and sonic test, we confirm that the proposed algorithm outperforms the other algorithm and reasonably works well for the most of audio cases.
In this paper, a feature extraction (FE) method is proposed that is comparable to the traditional FE methods used in automatic speech recognition systems. Unlike the conventional spectral-based FE methods, the proposed method evaluates the similarities between an embedded speech signal and a set of predefined speech attractor models in the reconstructed phase space (RPS) domain. In the first step, a set of Gaussian mixture models is trained to represent the speech attractors in the RPS. Next, for a new input speech frame, a posterior-probability-based feature vector is evaluated, which represents the similarity between the embedded frame and the learned speech attractors. We conduct experiments for a speech recognition task utilizing a toolkit based on hidden Markov models, over FARSDAT, a well-known Persian speech corpus. Through the proposed FE method, we gain 3.11% absolute phoneme error rate improvement in comparison to the baseline system, which exploits the mel-frequency cepstral coefficient FE method.

In this paper, we study on the identification of discrete-time state-space model for robust control of tandem cold mill, using a MOESP(MIMO output-error state-space model identification) algorithm based on subspace method. It is shown that the identified model is well adapted to input-output data sets, which are obtained from nonlinear mathematical equations of tandem cold mill. Furthermore, deterministic H$\infty$ norm bounds on uncertainties including modeling errors and disturbances are quantitatively identified in the frequency domain. Finally, the results give a basic idea to determine weighting functions included in formulating some robust control problems of tandem cold mill.

In this study, the pumping performance of a piezoelectric valveless micropump is simulated. The micropump, which was developed in the previous work, is composed of a four-layer lightweight piezocomposite actuator, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) pump chamber, and two diffusers. The piezoelectric domain, the fluid domain and the structural domain are coupled in the three-dimensional simulation. We used ANSYS for the piezoelectric and structural domains and ANSYS CFX for the fluid domain. The effects of driven frequency on the flow rate have been investigated by simulating the flow characteristics for 10 Hz and 40 Hz driven frequencies. The flow rates with respect to driven frequencies up to 300 Hz have been calculated.

In this paper, an algorithm using wavelet transform for detecting a cut that is a radical scene transition point, and fade and dissolve that are gradual scene transition points is proposed. The conventional methods using wavelet transform for this purpose is using features in both spatial and frequency domain. But in the proposed algorithm, the color space of an input image is converted to YUV and then luminance component Y is transformed in frequency domain using 2-level lifting. Then, the histogram of only low frequency subband that may contain some spatial domain features is compared with the previous one. Edges obtained from other higher bands can be divided into global, semi-global and local regions and the histogram of each edge region is compared. The experimental results show the performance improvement of about 17% in recall and 18% in precision and also show a good performance in fade and dissolve detection.
