A Study on Implementation of Powerline Carrier Modem using 5-ary Frequency Shift Keying Method (5-ary 주파수 천이 키잉 방식을 이용한 전력선 캐리어 모뎀 구현에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we use the 5-ary frequency shift keying method for robust powerline communication. To transmit the data by the 3-ary carrires among 5-ary carrirers and three carriers are 115kHz, 120kHz and 125kHz. Each time of three carrires is 0.33ms and total transmitting time duration from zero crossing point has 1ms. We use the dummy carriers which are 50kHz and 350kHz for monitoring the powerline channel state, dummy signal duration is received during 1ms. Experimentation result is shown that the implemented PLC transceiver has better than chirp transceiver at the capacitive load testing in spite of low transmission power.

  • We design and analyze the bit interleaved coded modulation(BICM) for noncoherent N-symbol continuous phase frequency shift keying(CPFSK) on the interleaved Rayleigh fading channel. In this paper, we use the equivalent normalized squared distance(ENSD) of noncoherent N-symbol CPFSK to design and analyze the BICM system. Specially, we design the BICM system for noncoherent 2-symbol 4-ary CPFSK, and analyze the performance of the system by using the ENSD. Simulation results are also provided to verify the theoretical performance analysis.

  • This paper presents an advanced RFID reader system implementing multi-protocols and multi-standards at 900MHz. In accordance with the strict regulations specified by ISO 18000-6 B-Type and EPC Global Gen 2, we have designed corresponding systemic factors which meet the domestic radio frequency utilizing bands of 910-914MHz. In addition, we develop numerous crucial factors of system compatibility options including SSB (Single-Side Band) and DSB (Double-Side Band) specifications, also OOK (On-Off Keying), ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) and PR-ASK (Phase Reversed-Amplitude Shift Keying) modulation formula. Remarkable technical features of system in this paper can be the direct conversion routines using I/Q Modulation/Demodulation respectively, and Full-Duplex formulation operating at identical frequency bands.

  • 디지털신호의 변조에는 기본적으로 진폭 편이 변조(ASK: Amplitude-Shift Keying), 주파수 편이 변조(FSK: Frequency-Shift Keying), 위상 편이 변조(PSK: Phase-Shift Keying) 등의 세 가지 방법이 있다. 본 논문에서는 표본클록 합성계수 방식에 관한 이론을 고찰하고, 클록초기치 누적방식의 DDFS를 이용하여 위에서 언급한 변조방법을 실현할 수 있는 주파수 도약 대역 확산 통신에 적합한 변조기를 구현하였다. 또한, 합성된 출력주파수 의 정현파형에 대한 스펙트럼 분석과 PN(Pseudo Noise) 부호를 사용한 순시적인 주파수 도 약 상태, 위상제어의 가능성 등을 확인한 결과 실험으로부터 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫 째, 합성된 출력주파수는 주파수 Index에 따라 기준주파수에 정확히 정수배가 되며, 둘째, 합성된 정현파형의 스펙트럼으로 기본파와 여러 고조파의 크기를 비교하여 본 결과 50[dB] 이상의 차이가 남으로서 고조파 성분들이 상당히 감소되었음을 확인하였고, 셋째, PN 코드 를 사용하여 순시적인 주파수 도약 상태를 확인하여 본 결과 스위칭 시간이 빠르기 때문에 주파수 도약 특성이 뛰어남을 알 수 있었으며 또한, 누산기의 set/reset 상태를 변화시킴에 따라 위상이 제어됨을 입증하였다.

  • The performance of M-ary turbo coded synchronous, fast frequency-hopping spread spectrum multiple-access (FHSS-MA) networks with M-ary frequency shift keying (MFSK) and noncoherent detection is analyzed under Rayleigh fading. Results indicate that M-ary turbo codes dramatically enhance the performance of FHSS-MA networks using MFSK compared to binary turbo codes.

  • A channel is very sever in an underwater acoustic communication. Therefore, a modulation method with high spectrum efficiency is needed in an underwater acoustic communication. PSK(phase shift keying) for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is robust to noise, but sensitive to noise about more than 3 bits. CPFSK error performance for transmitting 1 bit or 2 bits is similar to that of PSK and CPFSK decreases high frequency components in modulation signal. In the paper, I analyze the performance of trellis coded 4-CPFSK modulation.

  • The main characteristics of the underwater acoustic channel have varying multipath and fast fading. Especially, Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) signals with multiple frequency bands caused loss of information bits allocated on the specific frequencies due to selective fading phenomenon. Therefore, this paper proposes frequency gain control algorithm based on preamble error rates. The proposed algorithm estimates optimal gain value in the range of preamble error rate with less than 10 % for specific faded frequency. By employing turbo equalized FSK signals with rate of 1/3, the experiment was conducted on a lake in Munkyeong city with distance of 300 m to 500 m. The result confirms that packets are decoded successfully by applying proposed algorithm as increasing number of iterations.

  • In this paper, the design of Binary FSK Using Cellular Oscillator Network architecture is newly introduced and analyzed. With its easy frequency controllability and MHz range of quadrature signals, the Cellular Oscillator Network can be used in RF communication systems. Binary Frequency Shift Keying can also be implemented through digital loop-path switching. This FSK model is simulated and proved with typical 3V, 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS N-well process parameters.

  • This paper introduces a radar signal processing technique for intelligent rear view monitoring of an automobile. The linear frequency modulation-frequency shift keying(LFM-FSK) waveform, which is the combination of frequency modulation continuous wave(FMCW) and frequency shift keying(FSK) waveform, is employed to simultaneously estimate the range, relative aspect angle, and velocity of an automobile. Hence, it can be applied to monitor the rear view of an automobile. FMCW waveform has high range resolution capability, but it produces ghost targets under a multiple target environment. In contrast, FSK waveform can provide high velocity resolution and avoids the problem of ghost targets. However, it fails to identify multiple targets along the radar's line of sight. With LFM-FSK waveform, we can estimate the ranges and velocities of multiple targets with very high resolution, which avoids the ghost target problem of an FMCW waveform. Simulation result shows that LFM-FSK wavefrom is suitable for use in the lane change assistance system for an automobile.

Electrostatic Coupling Intra-Body Communication Based on Frequency Shift Keying and Error Correction (FSK 통신 및 에러 정정을 통한 Intra-Body Communication)

  • The IBC (Intra-Body Communication) benefits from a wireless communication system for exchanging various kinds of digital information through wearable electronic devices and sensors. The IBC using the human body as the transmission channel allows wireless communication without the transmitting radio frequency waves to the air. This paper discusses the results of experiments on electrostatic coupling IBC based on FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and 1 bit error correction. We implemented FSK communication and 1 bit error correction algorithm using the MCU boards and aluminum tape electrodes. The transmitter modulates digital data using 50% duty square wave as carrier signal and transmits data through human body. The receiver performs ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) on carrier signal from human body. In order to figure out the frequency of carrier signal from ADC results, we applied zero-crossing algorithm which is used to detect the edge characteristic in computer vision. Experiment results shows that digital data modulated as square wave can be successfully transmitted through human body by applying the proposed architecture of a 1ch GPIO as a transmitter and 1ch ADC for as a receiver. Also, this paper proposes 1 bit error correction technique for reliable IBC. This technique performs error correction by utilizing the feature that carrier signal has 50% duty ratio. When 1 bit error correction technique is applied, the byte error rate at receiver side is improved around 3.5% compared to that not applied.
