As an attempt to investigate the use of common verbs by a small group of Korean college students at the advanced level, the present study describes the students' speech production data collected from picture description tasks. The primary focus of the data description was how the students used high-frequency verbs in describing everyday activities. Out of total 442 units, 149 verbs were erroneously used. All erroneous utterances were classified into four categories according to their characteristics. The most prominent error type was overgeneralization due to incomplete knowledge of lexical items. Results showed that verbs used in everyday life were not easy even for the advanced level students. Although in some cases, L1 influence was discerned, the students' problems are more fundamental. In particular, the data revealed lack of knowledge of collocational possibilities and restrictions, and confusion about semantic boundaries between verbs which have similar semantic areas. The findings suggest that teaching at the advanced level should take contrastive approaches intralingually as well as interlingually to the high-frequency verbs.

In order to transmit various types of multimedia data (i.e. voice, video, and data) over a wireless channel, the coding and modulation scheme needs to be flexible and capable of providing a variable quality of service, data rates, and latency. In this paper, we study a mobile multimedia COMA network combined with the concatenated Reed-Solomon/Rate Compatible Punctured Convolution code (RS/RCPC). Also, this paper propose the combination of concatenated RS/RCPC coder and COMA RAKE receiver for multimedia COMA traffic which can be sent over wireless channels. From the results, using a frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel model, it is shown that concatenated RS/RCPC coder at the wireless physical layer can be effective in providing reliable wireless multimedia CDMA network. And the proposed scheme that combine concatenated RS/RCPC coder and CDMA RAKE receiver provides a significant gain in the BER performance over multi-user interference and multipath frequency selective fading channels.

Powerline communication is the data signal which is modulated by carrier frequency through the installed powerline at in-home or office is transmitted and received signals are separated into data signal with using band-pass filter which cent-frequency is carrier frequency. The home gateway, an equipment which works as an gateway for ubiquitous home network, relays all functions of a home network. The home gateway must always be connected in order to provide seamless services. However it gives unfavorable power consumption. Therefore the needs for working in maximum power saving mode while there is no data traffic and for invoking to the normal function when it is necessary. So, in this paper we survey the development of low power PLC modem monitoring of power consumption and breaking abnormal power in the home Network.

For better predictions and classifications in customer recommendation, this study proposes an integrative model that efficiently combines the currently-in-use statistical and artificial intelligence models. In particular, by integrating the models such as Association Rule, Frequency Matrix, and Rule Induction, this study suggests an integrative prediction model. The data set for the tests is collected from a convenience store G, which is the number one in its brand in S. Korea. This data set contains sales information on customer transactions from September 1, 2005 to December 7, 2005. About 1,000 transactions are selected for a specific item. Using this data set, it suggests an integrated model predicting whether a customer buys or not buys a specific product for target marketing strategy. The performance of integrated model is compared with that of other models. The results from the experiments show that the performance of integrated model is superior to that of all other models such as Association Rule, Frequency Matrix, and Rule Induction.
This paper presents the results of the ocean surface current velocity estimation using 6 Radarsat-1 SAR images acquired in west coastal area near Incheon. We extracted the surface velocity from SAR images based on the Doppler shift approach in which the azimuth frequency shift is related to the motion of surface target in the radar direction. The Doppler shift was measured by the difference between the Doppler centroid estimated in the range-compressed, azimuth-frequency domain and the nominal Doppler centroid used during the SAR focusing process. The extracted SAR current velocities were statistically compared with the current velocities from the high frequency(HF) radar in terms of averages, standard deviations, and root mean square errors. The problem of the unreliable nominal Doppler centroid for the estimation of the SAR current velocity was corrected by subtracting the difference of averages between SAR and HF-radar current velocities from the SAR current velocity. The corrected SAR current velocity inherits the average of HF-radar data while maintaining high-resolution nature of the original SAR data.
Mobile traffic is one of the most important indexes of the growth of the mobile communications market, and it has a close relationship with subscribers' service usage patterns, frequency demand and supply, network management, and information communication policy. The purpose of this paper is to understand mobile data usage in Korea and to suggest the optimal steps for establishing the frequency supply and demand system by researching the traffic trends that reflect the characteristics of radio resources in the mobile communications field. To achieve this goal, attempts were made to increase the possibility of policy use by analyzing and forecasting mobile traffic trends, and to improve the accuracy of the research through the verification of the existing prediction results. The paper ends with a discussion of the necessity of a frequency management system based on data science.
Enhancing the positioning precision is the primary pursuit of GPS users. To achieve this goal, most studies have focused on the relationship between GPS receiver clock errors and GPS positioning precision. This study utilizes undifferentiated phase data to calculate GPS clock errors and to compare with the frequency of cesium clock directly, thus verifying estimated clock errors by the method used in this paper. The relative frequency offsets from this paper and from National Standard Time and Frequency Laboratory of Taiwan match to $1.5{\times}10^{12}$ in the frequency instability, suggesting that the proposed technique has reached a certain level of quality. The built-in quartz clocks in the GPS receivers yield relative frequency offsets that are 3 to 4 orders higher than those of rubidium clocks. The frequency instability of the quartz clocks is on average two orders worse than that of the rubidium clock. Using the rubidium clock instead of the quartz clock, the horizontal and vertical positioning accuracies were improved by 26-78% (0.6-3.6 mm) and 20-34% (1.3-3.0 mm), respectively, for a short baseline. These improvements are 7-25% (0.3-1.7 mm) and 11% (1.7 mm) for a long baseline. Our experiments show that the frequency instability of clock, rather than relative frequency offset, is the governing factor of positioning accuracy.

An initial carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm is proposed for a multi-user frequency bowing orthogonal frequency division modulation-frequency division multiple access (FH-OFDMA) system with a single preamble symbol. To mitigate the effect of the frequency offset, every mobile station needs to accurately and rapidly acquire synchronization. The proposed algorithm uses only one preamble symbol in which two kinds of subcarriers are designed for coarse and fine frequency offset estimation. The non-data aided estimation using the energy spectrum is exploited for fine offset estimation, and maximum likelihood estimation using correlation for coarse offset estimation. By combining the two estimation results, an accurate frequency offset can be estimated with a single symbol. Through simulations, the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by comparing estimation error variance with a conventional method.

It has been considered only with the concerned regional damage costs whenever the restoration and flood control measures were established in Korea. If the relationship between regional flood frequency and damages is quantitatively analyzed, more resonable and reliable countermeasure for flood protection and restoration can be proposed. Historical data ('70~'07) about flood damage in Korea were utilized and analyzed to present such relationship using the point frequency analysis. Also, the quadrant analysis was employed to divide into 4 categories: high frequency-high damage, high frequency-low damage, low frequency-high damage, and low frequency-low damage. If the results from this study were utilized well in specific cities and counties in Korea, it would be helpful to establish the countermeasures and action plans for flood protection because it was possible to compare with the relationship between flood frequency and damage of each region. And it would be the fundamental data for estimating the effect of future flood protection plan.

In order to synchronize a remote system time to the reference time like Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), it is required to compare the time difference between the two clocks. GNSS Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is one of the most general geodetic positioning methods and can be used for time and frequency transfer applications which require more precise time comparison performance than GNSS code. However, the PPP technique has a main drawback of day-boundary discontinuity which comes from the PPP model that the code measurements are applied to resolve the floating carrier-phase ambiguities. The Integer PPP (IPPP) technique is one of the methods which has been studied to compensate the day-boundary discontinuities exited in the conventional PPP. In this paper, we investigate the time and frequency capabilities of PPP and IPPP by using the measurement data obtained from two time transfer receivers which are closely located and using common reference 1 Pulse Per Second (PPS) and RF signals. From the experiment, it is investigated that the IPPP method can effectively compensate the day-boundary discontinuities without producing frequency offset. However, the PPP method can generating frequency offset which can severely degrade the time comparison performance with long-term period data.
