The acceleration effect of various organic acids, such as methanesulfonic acid (MSA), ethanesulfonic acid (ESA), 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid (SDA), diphenylacetic acid (DPAA), and $\rho$-toluenesulfonic acid (TSA), on the rate of styrene bulk polymerization with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxy (TEMPO) and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) was investigated. The addition of organic acids significantly accelerated the rate. Among these organic acids, DPAA showed an efficient rate-accelerating effect with living nature of polymerization. When DPAA was used as a rate-accelerating additive for TEMPO-mediated living free radical polymerization (LFRP), the rate of polymerization was dramatically enhanced, the linearity of reaction kinetics was successfully maintained, and the polydispersity was effectively controlled.
This study was conducted to estimate the amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating from a cellular phone in a pocket of dress shirt, as well as to test how different the penetration amounts were under the conditions of wearing. It was also investigated the possibilities that the amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating could be decreased by using twofold pocket or electromagnetic wave free fabric. The amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating were measured in the following five cases; one-layered pocket with 10 different fabrics as dress shirt, a pocket adding a layer of knitted cotton, two-layered pocket with same fabric as dress shirt, two-layered pocket adding a layer of knitted cotton, and one-layered pocket adding a layer of electromagnetic wave free fabric. Each of these five cases were measured using the front and back sides of a cellular phone facing to the body. The results were as follows; 1) The amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating were not significantly different in 10 different fabrics and were all above the caution range (0.02mW/$cm^2$). 2) The amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating in cases of the back side of the cellular phone to the body, were more than in cases of the front side. 3) There is a significantly differences in part on adding a knitted under wear to one and two layers of the pocket in the case of penetration amount under the wearing conditions. 4) The amounts of the electromagnetic wave penetrating in cases of adding a layer of electromagnetic wave free fabric, were close to the safe standard value of it. The above results suggested that facing the front side of cellular phone to the body and using extra layering with some electromagnetic wave free fabrics might have some protective effects again to the penetration amounts.

Background Simulation training is becoming an increasingly important component of skills acquisition in surgical specialties, including Plastic Surgery. Non-living simulation models have an established place in Plastic Surgical microsurgery training, and support the principles of replacement, reduction and refinement of animal use. A more sophisticated version of the basic chicken thigh microsurgery model has been developed to include dissection of a type 1-muscle flap and is described and validated here. Methods A step-by-step dissection guide on how to perform the chicken thigh adductor profundus free muscle flap is demonstrated. Forty trainees performed the novel simulation muscle flap on the last day of a 5-day microsurgery course. Pre- and post-course microvascular anastomosis assessment, along with micro dissection and end product (anastomosis lapse index) assessment, demonstrated skills acquisition. Results The average time to dissect the flap by novice trainees was $82{\pm}24$ minutes, by core trainees $90{\pm}24$ minutes, and by higher trainees $64{\pm}21$ minutes (P=0.013). There was a statistically significant difference in the time to complete the anastomosis between the three levels of training (P=0.001) and there was a significant decrease in the time taken to perform the anastomosis following course completion (P<0.001). Anastomosis lapse index scores improved for all cohorts with post-test average anastomosis lapse index score of $3{\pm}1.4$ (P<0.001). Conclusions The novel chicken thigh adductor profundus free muscle flap model demonstrates face and construct validity for the introduction of the principles of free tissue transfer. The low cost, constant, and reproducible anatomy makes this simulation model a recommended addition to any microsurgical training curriculum.
For the foundational study on automatic review of the barrier free Environment certification for the socially disadvantaged using BIM modeling information, we first confirm the need of the automatic review by analyzing the barrier free Environment certification an by investigating the existing studies on barrier free Environment certification. After that, we select a primary approach for our research by investigating the related works such as automatic review of the building code. As a next step, we generate the BIM modeling information, extract the classification system, analyze and extract items in the barrier free Environment certification according the extracted system, compares the items with the BIM generation information, and allocate them. And, we showed the potential usability of automatic review by deriving a process to prepare the ruleset structure for the automatic review and to prepare a criteria for BIM modeling guide.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of preferred images of school uniform and free clothing on preferred images of hair among high school girls. The data were collected between November and December 2014 from 300 high school girls in their's, living in Changwon province. The data have been analyzed by using SPSS program. The methods of factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression have been adopted for the data analysis. The results of this study are as followings: The factors of preferred images of school uniform consist of six dimensions of attention, neatness, vividness, visibility, practicality, and trend. The factors of preferred images of free clothing consist of six dimensions of neatness, practicality, attention, vividness, visibility, and trend. The factors of preferred images of hair consist of six dimensions of concentration of attention, convenience, elegance, attention, trend, and cuteness. Preferred images of school uniform and free clothing resulted in a correlation with preferred images of hair. Preferred images of school uniform and free clothing had an influence on preferred image of hair. It is highly expected that this study is used as the useful sources of marketing plans of fashion industries targeting high school girls.
The solvent effects on the relative free energies of binding of K+ and Na+ ions to 12-crown-4 and Dlog Ks (the difference of stability constant of binding) have been investigated by a Monte Carlo simulation of statistical perturbation theory (SPT) in several solvents. Comparing the relative free energies of binding of K+ and Na+ ions to 12-crown-4, in CH3OH of this study with experimental works, there is a good agreement among the studies. We have reported here the quantitative solvent-polarity relationships (QSPR) studied on the solvent effects the relative free energies of binding of K+ and Na+ ions to 12-crown-4. We noted that DN(donor number) dominates the differences in relative solvation Gibbs free energies of K+ and Na+ ions and DN dominates the negative values in differences in the stability constant (Dlog Ks) as well as the relative free energies of binding of K+ and Na+ ions to 12-crown-4 and p* (Kamlet-Tafts solvatochromic parameters) dominates the positive values in differences in the stability constant (Dlog Ks) as well as the relative free energies of binding of K+ and Na+ ions to 12-crown-4.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of age, education and residence on food consumption and nutrient Intakes of older women living alone. In-home interviews were conducted using the health habits and food frequency questionnaire for one hundred twenty free living, healthy women who were between the ages of 60 and 87 years. Analysis of variance was used to assess the effect of three independent variables on food consumption and nutrient intakes. Food groups eaten at every meal were examined on 5-point scale, and consumption scores were compared with groups according to age and education. The meat consumption of younger and more highly educated respondents were significantly( p<0.05) higher. The oldest Participants had higher consumption frequencies for cereals and grain food categories. but lower consumption frequencies for vegetables and fruits ( p<0.05) The dietary assessment data showed that the energy and Protein intakes of subjects were 84.8% and 85.1% of RDAs, respectively. Vitamin A and calcium intakes showed a significant (p<0.05) difference among the three age groups More highly educated respondents had higher intakes of calcium and phosphorus than those respondents with less education.
This study was conducted to find the powerful free radical scavenging effect in methanol extracts from 35 kinds of Korean medicinal plants obtained from the Plant Extract Bank as natural plant products. Antioxidant activity of the plant extracts was determined by measuring the scavenging effect of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical (DPPH). In the screening of plant extracts tested, at 200 ppm level, almost all plantex tracts showed significantly high antionidant activity. In the reinvestigation of 15 kinds of Korean medicinal plants at 50 ppm level selected as good sources with good free radical scavenging effect at 200 ppm level, the DPPH scavenging effects were similar to those of L-ascorbic acid in whole plant extract of Fragaria yezoensis (90.4%), in the plant stems and roots extract of Gingko biloba, and the leaves extract of Rhododendron mucronulatum var. ciliatum (90%). The fruits extract of Cornus officinalis showed the strongest antioxidant activity (95%). These results suggest that the methanol extracts from Korean medicinal plants can be a potential source of antioxidants that can be used to control oxidative stress in the body, But further study is needed to measure their safety for consumption
Free-living Acanthamoeba are eukaryotic protozoan organisms that are widely distributed in the air, water, etc such as environment. Acanthamoeba ingest the Escherichia coli which will replicate in cytoplasm of Acanthamoeba. Bacterial pathogenicity or virulence is one of important determinant factors to survive in free-living Acanthamoeba and otherwise Acanthamoebic pathogenicity is also an important factor for their interactions. Bacterial association with pathogenic strain of Acanthamoeba T1 and T4 was lower about two times than non-pathogenic T7. Bacterial invasion percentages into T1 were higher about three times than T7 but bacterial survival in T7 was increased as T1. The capsule-deletion mutant exhibited limited ability for invasion/uptake by and survival inside pathogenic Acanthamoeba T4. E. coli-outer membrane protein A (OmpA) decreased bacterial association with A. castellanii by about three times and it had higher effects than lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Under favorable conditions, the mutants were not survived in Acanthamoeba up to 24 h incubation. Therefore, this review will report pathogenic and non-pathogenic Acanthamoeba strains interactions with E. coli and its several mutants, i.e., capsule, OmpA and LPS.
There are a number of pieces of evidences that suggest a link between marine diatoms and microorganisms, but knowledge about related microbial communities is greatly lacking. The present study investigated the microbial community structures related to the growth of the marine diatom Cyclotella meneghiniana. We collected free-living bacteria (FLB) and particle-associated bacteria (PAB) at each growth stage (e.g., lag, exponential, stationary and death) of the diatom, and analyzed their bacterial 16S rDNA using pyrosequencing. Metagenomics analysis showed that community structures of FLB and PAB differed considerably with the progress of growth stages. FLB showed higher diversity than PAB, but variation in the different growth stages of C. meneghiniana was more evident in PAB. The proportion of the genus Hoeflea, belonging to the order Rhizobiales, was dominant in both FLB and PAB, and it gradually increased with the growth of C. meneghiniana. However, Enhydrobacter clade tended to considerably decrease in PAB. In addition, Marinobacter decreased steadily in FLB, but first increased and then decreased in PAB. These results suggest that Hoeflea, Enhydrobacter, and Marinobacter may be closely related to the growth of diatom C. meneghiniana.
