The compressed mode is used to perform inter-frequency and inter-system handover in WCDMA. The instantaneous transmit power is increased in the compressed frame in order to keep the QoS(Quality of Service) unaffected by the reduced processing gain. Furthermore, since the inner loop power control is not active during the transmission gap and the effect of interleaving is decreased, a higher Eb/No target is required, which directly affects the system performance. Due to the impact on performance, the compressed mode should be activated by the RNC(Radio Network Controller) only when there is real need to execute an inter-frequency or inter-system handover. However, 3GPP does not define the method that decides the compressed mode activation. In order to reduce performance degradation, there is need the decision method. In this paper, we consider a combined cell structure in which some neighbor cells have a frequency the same as serving cell and the others have a different frequency or system. Under consideration, we analyze the effect of the compressed mode on the WCDMA forward link performance. In order to avoid performance degradation, we propose an UE(User Equipment) measurement method that can restrict the activation area of the compressed mode of UE that does not need it and evaluate its performance by simulations. Analytical results show that the use of the compressed mode affects the performance degradation. And simulation results show that proposed method leads to better performance.
An occlusion culling method, one of visibility culling methods, excludes invisible objects or triangles which are covered by other objects. As it reduces computation quantity, occlusion culling is an effective method to handle complex scenes in real-time. But an existing common occlusion culling method, such as hardware occlusion query method, sends objects' data twice to GPU and this causes processing overheads once for occlusion culling test and the other is for rendering. And another existing hardware occlusion culling method, VCBP, can test objects' visibility quickly, but it neither test bounding volume nor return test result to application stage. In this paper, we propose a single pass occlusion culling method which uses temporal and spatial coherency, with effective occlusion culling hardware architecture. In our approach, the hardware performs occlusion culling test rapidly with cache on the rasterization stage where triangles are transformed into fragments. At the same time, hardware sends each primitive's visibility information to application stage. As a result, the application stage reduces data transmission quantity by excluding covered objects using the visibility information on previous frame and hierarchical spatial tree. Our proposed method improved maximum 44%, minimum 14% compared with S&W method based on hardware occlusion query. And the performance is increased 25% and 17% respectively, compared to maximum and minimum performance of CHC method which is based on occlusion culling method.
Purpose: Damage to pulse crops by wild birds is a serious problem. The damage is to such an extent that the rate of damage during the period between seeding and cotyledon stages reaches 54.6% on an average. In this study, a crop-position detection method was developed wherein infrared (IR) sensors were used to determine the cotyledon position under a vinyl mulch. Methods: IR sensors that helped measure the temperature were used to locate the cotyledons below the vinyl mulch. A single IR sensor module was installed at three locations of the crops (peanut, red lettuce, and crown daisy) in the cotyledon stage. The representative thermal response of a $16{\times}4$ pixel area was detected using this sensor in the case where the distance from the target was 25 cm. A spatial image was applied to the two-dimensional temperature distribution using a non-integral moving-average method. The collected data were first processed by taking the moving average via interpolation to determine the frame where the variance was the lowest for a resolution unit of 1.02 cm. Results: The temperature distribution was plotted corresponding to a distance of 10 cm between the crops. A clear leaf pattern of the crop was visually confirmed. However, the temperature distribution after the normalization was unclear. The image conversion and frequency-conversion graphs were obtained based on the moving average by averaging the points corresponding to a frequency of 40 Hz for 8 pixels. The most optimized resolutions at locations 1, 2, and 3 were found on 3.4, 4.1, and 5.6 Pixels, respectively. Conclusions: In this study, to solve the problem of damage caused by birds to crops in the cotyledon stage after seeding, the vinyl mulch is punched after seeding. The crops in the cotyledon stage could be accurately located using the proposed method. By conducting the experiments using the single IR sensor and a sliding mechanical device with the help of a non-integral interpolation method, the crops in the cotyledon stage could be precisely located.

GPS location information storage included in the HD black box is using a unique manner for each manufacturer does not have a specific standard. In this paper, in order to overcome the limitations of the storage space and thereby the image quality according to store GPS position information deteriorate to solve the problems that cause, we propose the location information concealment method included in the HDTV video content using a essential hidden region. HDTV video content is a Border Extender of 8 lines in the frame to the bottom of the compression will be required. This was inserted into the image of a gray scale used in block form in order to space the current position information is concealed to prevent image degradation. The proposed method was confirmed using real HD black box, there are more difficult to interpret the format of the ASCII code re-edit the location information when the compression effect disappears with the existing security zones added. Therefore, the proposed method is suitable for location-based services, such as Facebook or Youtube videos.
The distributed Information Retrieval System centrally controlled by mediator or meta search engine result in congestion of heavy traffic and int he problem of increment of cost for the reason of the design of complicated algorithm for central control and installation of hardware. So to figure out this problem, the way is needed that has independent retrieval functionality and can cooperate each other without dependency. In this paper, we overview a few works involved in distributed information retrieval system, then, implement algorithm and design the frame-work of distributed information retrieval system using sequential transferring method(STM) including multiple information retrieval system separated from central control. For this first of all, we present a web partition policy which devide and manage web logically and we present the sequential query processing way by means of illustration through changing numbered information retrieval system. Then, we also present 3-layered structure of framework and function and module of each layer suitable for information retrieval system. Last of ail, for effective implementation of STM algorithm we analysis module structure and present description of pseudocode of this, and show that the proposed STM algorithm works smoothly by demonstration of sequential query transfer process between servers.

It is prerequisite to generate epipolar resampled images by reducing the y-parallax for accurate and efficient processing of satellite stereo images. Minimizing y-parallax requires the accurate sensor modeling that is carried out with ground control points. However, the approach is not feasible over inaccessible areas where control points cannot be easily acquired. For the case, a relative orientation can be utilized only with conjugate points, but its accuracy for satellite sensor should be studied because the sensor has different geometry compared to well-known frame type cameras. Therefore, we carried out the bias-compensation of RPCs (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) without any ground control points to study its precision and effects on the y-parallax in epipolar resampled images. The conjugate points were generated with stereo image matching with outlier removals. RPCs compensation was performed based on the affine and polynomial models. We analyzed the reprojection error of the compensated RPCs and the y-parallax in the resampled images. Experimental result showed one-pixel level of y-parallax for Kompsat-3 stereo data.

In this paper, the two design techniques of the embedded system which provides a wireless image observation with temporary ad-hoc network are proposed and developed. The first method is based on the embedded system design technique for a nearly real-time wireless short observation application, having a specific remote monitoring node with a built-in image processing function, and having the maximum rate of 1 fps (frame per second) wireless image transmission capability of a $160{\times}128$size image. The second technique uses the embedded system for a general wireless long observation application, consisting of the main node, the remote monitoring node, and the system controller with built-in image processing function, and the capability of the wireless image transmission rate of 1/3 fps. The proposed system uses the wireless ad-hoc network which is widely accepted as a short range, low power, and bidirectional digital communication, the hardware are consisted of the general developed modules, a small digital camera, and a PC, and the embedded software based upon the Zigbee stack and the user interface software are developed and tested on the implemented module. The wireless environment analysis and the performance results are presented.

The key elements of inter prediction are motion estimation(ME) and motion compensation(MC). Motion estimation is to find the optimum motion vectors, not only by using a distance criteria like the SAD, but also by taking into account the resulting number of 비트s in the 비트 stream. Motion compensation is compensate for movement of blocks of current frame. Inter-prediction Encoding is always the main bottleneck in high-quality streaming applications. Therefore, in real-time streaming applications, dedicated hardware for executing Inter-prediction is required. In this paper, we studied a motion estimator(ME) for H.264/AVC. The designed motion estimator is based on 2-D systolic array and it connects processing elements for fast SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) calculation in parallel. By providing different path for the upper and lower lesion of each reference data and adjusting the input sequence, consecutive calculation for motion estimation is executed without pipeline stall. With data reuse technique, it reduces memory access, and there is no extra delay for finding optimal partitions and motion vectors. The motion estimator supports variable-block size and takes 328 cycles for macro-block calculation. The proposed architecture is local memory-free different from paper [6] using local memory. This motion estimation encoder can be applicable to real-time video processing.

In this paper we propos a new hardware architecture of modular exponentiation using a division chain method which has been proposed in (2). Modular exponentiation using the division chain is performed by receding an exponent E as a mixed form of multiplication and addition with divisors d=2 or $d=2^I +1$ and respective remainders r. This calculates the modular exponentiation in about $1.4log_2$E multiplications on average which is much less iterations than $2log_2$E of conventional Binary Method. We designed a linear systolic array multiplier with pipelining and used a horizontal projection on its data dependence graph. So, for k-bit key, two k-bit data frames can be inputted simultaneously and two modular multipliers, each consisting of k/2+3 PE(Processing Element)s, can operate in parallel to accomplish 100% throughput. We propose a new encoding scheme to represent divisors and remainders of the division chain to keep regularity of the data path. When it is synthesized to ASIC using Samsung 0.5 um CMOS standard cell library, the critical path delay is 4.24ns, and resulting performance is estimated to be abort 140 Kbps for a 1024-bit data frame at 200Mhz clock In decryption process, the speed can be enhanced to 560kbps by using CRT(Chinese Remainder Theorem). Futhermore, to satisfy real time requirements we can choose small public exponent E, such as 3,17 or $2^{16} +1$, in encryption and verification process. in which case the performance can reach 7.3Mbps.

In this paper, we propose a real-time pose estimation method for a monocular camera using a particle filter integrated with UKF (unscented Kalman filter). While conventional camera tracking techniques combine camera images with data from additional devices such as gyroscopes and accelerometers, the proposed method aims to use only two-dimensional visual information from the camera without additional sensors. This leads to a significant simplification in the hardware configuration. The proposed approach is based on a particle filter integrated with UKF. The pose of the camera is estimated using UKF, which is defined individually for each particle. Statistics regarding the camera state are derived from all particles of the particle filter, from which the real-time camera pose information is computed. The proposed method demonstrates robust tracking, even in the case of rapid camera shakes and severe scene occlusions. The experiments show that our method remains robust even when most of the feature points in the image are obscured. In addition, we verify that when the number of particles is 35, the processing time per frame is approximately 25ms, which confirms that there are no issues with real-time processing.
