  • In this study, we suggested a key-point detection method for robot harvesting of oriental melon. Our suggested method could be used to detect the detachment part and major composition of oriental melon. We defined four points (harvesting point, calyx, center, bottom) based on tomato with characteristics similar to those of oriental melon. The evaluation of estimated key-points was conducted by pixel error and PDK (percentage of detected key-point) index. Results showed that the average pixel error was 18.26 ± 16.62 for the x coordinate and 17.74 ± 18.07 for the y coordinate. Considering the resolution of raw images, these pixel errors were not expected to have a serious impact. The PDK score was found to be 89.5% PDK@0.5 on average. It was possible to estimate oriental melon specific key-point. As a result of this research, we believe that the proposed method can contribute to the application of harvesting robot system.

  • The thermal fatigue behavior of alumina ceramics was investigated by water quenching method. Single-quench thermal shock tests were performed to decide the critical thermal shock temperature difference ($\Delta$Tc) which was found to be 225$^{\circ}C$ Cyclic thermal shock fatigue tests were performed at temperature diff-erences of 175$^{\circ}C$, 187$^{\circ}C$ and 200$^{\circ}C$ respectively. After cyclic thermal shock fatigue test the distributions of retained strength and crack were observed. Retained strength was measured by four point bending method and crack observation method bydye penetration. In terms of the retained strength distribution the critical number of thermal shock cycles(Nc) were 7 for $\Delta$T=200$^{\circ}C$, 35 for $\Delta$T=187$^{\circ}C$ and 180for $\Delta$T=175$^{\circ}C$ respec-tively. In terms of the crack observation the critical number of thermal shock cycles were 5 for $\Delta$T==200$^{\circ}C$ 20 for $\Delta$T==187$^{\circ}C$ and 150 for $\Delta$T=175$^{\circ}C$ respectively. The difference of Nc investigated by two different methods is due to the formation of the longitudinal cracks which had no effect on the four point bending strength. Therefore the thermal fatigue behavior of alumina ceramics could be more accurately described by the crack observation method than the retained strength measurement method.

  • As the need for the integration of administrative datasets and address information increases, there is also growing interest in POI (Point of Interest) data as a source of location information across applications and platforms. The purpose of this study is to develop an alias database management method for efficient POI searching, based on POI data representing position. First, we determine the attributes of POI alias data as it is used variously by individual users. When classifying aliases of POIs, we excluded POIs in which the typo and names are all in English alphabet. The attributes of POI aliases are classified into four categories, and each category is reclassified into three classes according to the strength of the attributes. We then define the quality of POI aliases classified in this study through experiments. Based on the four attributes of POI defined in this study, we developed a method of managing one POI alias through and integrated method composed of word embedding and a similarity measurement. Experimental results of the proposed POI alias management method show that it is possible to utilize the algorithm developed in this study if there are small numbers of aliases in each POI with appropriate POI attributes defined in this study.

  • This paper proposes a search method that explores parameters C and σ values of support vector machines (SVM) to improve performance while maintaining search accuracy. A traditional grid search method requires tremendous computational times because it searches all available combinations of C and σ values to find optimal combinations which provide the best performance of SVM. To address this issue, this paper proposes a deep search method that reduces computational time. In the first stage, it divides C-σ- accurate metrics into four regions, searches a median value of each region, and then selects a point of the highest accurate value as a start point. In the second stage, the selected start points are re-divided into four regions, and then the highest accurate point is assigned as a new search point. In the third stage, after eight points near the search point. are explored and the highest accurate value is assigned as a new search point, corresponding points are divided into four parts and it calculates an accurate value. In the last stage, it is continued until an accurate metric value is the highest compared to the neighborhood point values. If it is not satisfied, it is repeated from the second stage with the input level value. Experimental results using normal and defect bearings show that the proposed deep search algorithm outperforms the conventional algorithms in terms of performance and search time.

  • Based on the random cracking theory, the cylinder RVE model of reinforced concrete is established and the damage process is divided into three stages as the evolution of the cracks. The stress distribution along longitude direction of the concrete and the steel bar in the cylinder model are derived. The equivalent elastic modulus of the RVE are derived and the user-defined field variable subroutine (USDFLD) for the equivalent elastic modulus is well integrated into the ABAQUS. Regarding the tensile rebars and the concrete surrounding the rebars as the equivalent homogeneous transversely isotropic material, and the FEM analysis for the reinforced concrete beams is conducted with the USDFLD subroutine. Considering the concrete cracking and interfacial debonding, the macroscopic damage process of the reinforced concrete beam under four-point bending loading in the simulation. The volume fraction of rebar and the cracking degree are mainly discussed to reveal their influence on the macro-performance and they are calibrated with experimental results. Comparing with the bending experiment performed with 8 reinforced concrete beams, the bending stiffness of the second stage and the ultimate load simulated are in good agreement with the experimental values, which verifies the effectiveness and the accuracy of the improved finite element method for reinforced concrete beam.

  • This paper proposes a method to measure the airburst height by utilizing a high speed camera. This method might be applied to the test of which flight target is alive after the burst. The proposed method consists of four main steps. The first step is to compute the impact point using the sea surface height. The second step is to compute the height of burst (HOB) by using the distance from the camera to the impact point. This could be different from the real explosion height. That is because the distance from the camera to the burst point is not the same as it from the camera to the impact point. Therefore, the third step is to calculate the approach angle of the flight target with respect to the installed camera. Then, the last step is to compensate the computed height by using the approach angle. The result of the proposed method is compared with it from the triangulation. In this paper, the HOB error is also analyzed regarding the approach angle difference. Based on this analysis, the camera position might be suggested for error reduction.

  • PURPOSE. To evaluate the effects of different surface treatments on the bond strength of novel CAD/CAM restorative materials to resin cement by four point bending test. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The CAD/CAM materials under investigation were e.max CAD, Mark II, Lava Ultimate, and Enamic. A total of 400 bar specimens ($4{\times}1.2{\times}12mm$) (n=10) milled from the CAD/CAM blocks underwent various pretreatments (no pretreatment (C), hydrofluoric acid (A), hydrofluoric acid + universal adhesive (Scotchbond) (AS), sandblasting (Sb), and sandblasting + universal adhesive (SbS)). The bars were luted end-to-end on the prepared surfaces with a dual curing adhesive resin cement (Variolink N, Ivoclar Vivadent) on the custom-made stainless steel mold. Ten test specimens for each treatment and material combination were performed with four point bending test method. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey's test. RESULTS. The surface treatment and type of CAD/CAM restorative material showed a significant effect on the four point bending strength (FPBS) (P<.001). For LDC, AS surface treatment showed the highest FPBS results ($100.31{\pm}10.7MPa$) and the lowest values were obtained in RNC ($23.63{\pm}9.0MPa$) for control group. SEM analyses showed that the surface topography of CAD/CAM restorative materials was modified after treatments. CONCLUSION. The surface treatment of sandblasting or HF acid etching in combination with a universal adhesive containing MDP can be suggested for the adhesive cementation of the novel CAD/CAM restorative materials.

  • It is well known that the behavior of PV curves is similar to a quadratic function. This is used in some papers to approximate PV curves and calculate the maximum-loading point by minimum number of power flow runs. This paper also based on quadratic approximation of the PV curves is aimed at completing previous works so that the computational efforts are reduced and the accuracy is maintained. To do this, an iterative method based on a quadratic function with two constant coefficients, instead of the three ones, is used. This simplifies the calculation of the quadratic function. In each iteration, to prevent the calculations from diverging, the equations are solved on the assumption that voltage magnitude at a selected load bus is known and the loading factor is unknown instead. The voltage magnitude except in the first iteration is selected equal to the one at the nose point of the latest approximated PV curve. A method is presented to put the mentioned voltage in the first iteration as close as possible to the collapse point voltage. This reduces the number of iterations needed to determine the maximum-loading point. This method is tested on four IEEE test systems.

  • The inverse kinematics problem of a reclaimer which excavates and transports raw materials in a raw yard is investigated. Because of the geometric feature of the equipment in which scooping buckets are attached around the rotating disk, kinematic redundancy occurs in determining joint variable. Link coordinates are introduced following the Denavit-Hartenbery representation. For a given excavation point the forward kinematics yields 3 equations, however the number of involved joint variables in the equations is four. It is shown that the rotating disk at the end of the boom provides an extra passive degree of freedom. Two approaches are investigated in obtaining inverse kinematics solutions. The first method pre-assigns the height of excavation point which can be determined through path planning. A closed form solution is obtained for the first approach. The second method exploits the orthogonality between the normal vector at the excavation point and the z axis of the end-effector coordinate system. The geometry near the reclaiming point has been approximated as a plane, and the plane equation has been obtained by the least square method considering 8 adjacent points near the point. A closed form solution is not found for the second approach, however a linear approximate solution is provided.
