  • One important purpose of premedical education is to help students attain core competencies during the two-year premedical program. Since premedical curriculum is the foundation of medical education, it is necessary to develop the premedical curriculum in accordance with the overarching curriculum of a medical school. Inje University's College of Medicine (IUCM) has attempted to integrate competency-based medical education into the premedical education curriculum. The revised premedical curriculum aims to develop students' intrinsic competencies during premedical years. In an effort to do so, IUCM defined competencies for premedical education, analyzed and designed premedical courses according to the defined competencies, and suggested learner-centered instructional methods. As a result of implementing the revised premedical curriculum, students have reported both positive experiences and difficulties. Based on the results, it will be necessary to continuously improve the premedical curriculum as well as develop appropriate methods for evaluating student achievement of the defined competencies.

  • Recently, the Internet of Things is attracting attention as an important key technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and SW education using physical computing is suggested as a good alternative to supplement the problems raised by beginners in programming education. Among the many teaching tools that can be used for physical computing education, MODI is a modular manufacturing tool that anyone can easily assemble like Lego. MODI is a teaching tool that can improve learners' achievement by linking a self-linked block-type code editor called MODI Studio to lay the foundation for programming in a relatively small amount of time and immediately check the results in person. In this paper, a physical computing education method using MODI was designed to be applied to basic programming courses for programming beginners and applied to after-school classes for middle school students. As a result, it was found that students' interest and satisfaction were much higher in physical computing classes using MODI than in text-based programming classes. It can be seen that physical computing education that allows beginners to see and feel the results in person is more effective than grammar-oriented text programming, and it can have a positive effect on improving basic programming skills by increasing students' participation.

  • This study aims to verify the practical effectiveness of learning management system (LMS) by introducing a LMS enhancing digital assessment utilizing automatic item generation in order to strengthen college student's mathematics performance. Teaching assisted with digital assessment in the LMS was applied to college mathematics classes, and the research question is whether or not students in the classes utilizing the LMS perform better than the regular classes. In particular, a calculus course, which is the foundation of important artificial intelligence technology in the future, was utilized in this study. The participants of this study were 248 freshmen in science and engineering who were taking calculus courses at a small to mid-size university. A total of 156 freshmen were selected after applying a propensity score matching method (PSMM), 78 from classes utilizing the LMS and 78 from regular classes without the LMS assisted with the digital assessment. As a result, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the math academic growth of students who used the LMS and those who did not. In other words, when LMS was used in calculus, students' academic growth was greater. The results of this study are meaningful in that they observed students' academic growth and confirmed that LMS enables a positive role in students' academic growth. In addition, if digital assessment is strengthened and LMS that enables individualized learning analysis is introduced and implemented in educational institutions, it is expected to play a major role in strengthening students' academic performance.

  • Cheongeumrok is the journal of Gwonwoo(卷宇) Hong Chan-yu(1915-2005) during the period of January 9, 1969~January 14, 1982. He was personally involved in the foundation of a corporation called Yudohoi and also all of its operation, which makes him the most knowledgeable person about its history. His Cheongeumrok thus seems worthy enough as a proper material to arrange its history. Cheongeumrok consists of total 19 books, amounting to approximately 3,300 pieces of squared manuscript paper containing 200 letters per piece. He wrote it in Chinese and sometimes followed the Hangul-style word order while writing in Chinese. Many parts of the manuscript were written in a cursive hand with many Chinese poems embedded throughout it. The manuscript offers major information related to the corporation Yudohoi extracted from his journal. 1. There was a meeting of promoters to commemorate the foundation of the corporation in November, 1968, and it was in January, 1969 that it was established after getting a permit from the Ministry of Culture and Communication in January, 1969(Permit No. of Ministry of Culture and Communication: Da(다)-2-3(Jongmu(宗務)1732.5)). 2. Its office was moved from the original location of the 3rd floor of Wonnam Building, 133-1 Wonnam-dong, Jongro-gu, Seoul(currently Daekhak Pharmacy in front of Seoul National University Hospital) to Room 388 of Gwangjang Company, 4 Yeji-dong, Jongro-gu(office of Heungsan Social Gathering) and to second floor of KyungBo building, 21 Kyansu-dong, and to 3rd floor of Geongguk Building in Gyeongwoon-dong. 3. Its operational costs were covered by the supports of Seong Sang-yeong, the eldest son of Seong Jong-ho, the chairman of the board, later Kim Won-tae and Gwon Tae-hun, next chairmen of the board, and Hong Chan-yun, a director, since 1979. 4. His Confucian activities include participating in Seonggyungwan Seokjeonje (成均館 釋奠), joining in the erection of the Parijangseo(巴里長書) Monument and the publication of its commemorative poetry book, compiling the biographies(not completed) of Confucian patriotic martyrs for independence, and participating in the establishment of family rituals and regulations as a practice member. 5. His Yudohoi had a dispute with Seonggyungwan and lost a suit at the High Court in July, 1975 and Supreme Court in February, 1976. 6. There were discussions about its unification with Seonggyungwan Yudohoi, but there was hardly any progress. 7. Yudohoi started to provide full-scale courses on Confucian and Chinese classics under the leadership of Director Hong Chan-yu in 1979, and they have continued on today. Its courses for scholarship students including those for common citizens boast a history of 29 years and 220 graduates.

  • Since physical therapy was first introduced in Korea, it has been 50 years past and Korean physical therapy has made rapid progress. However, history or educational system of Korean physical therapy is still not known worldwide. Now, for Korean physical therapy to go beyond Asia and leap toward the world, endless studies, efforts and publicity are required. Korean physical therapy first began by missionaries dispatched from other countries like America and Canada with Korean War, which occurred in 1950. After the War, Korean Physical Therapy is developed very fast. Korean Physical Therapy Association was founded in October 1, 1965 and many physical therapist were discharged. Korea became a full member of World Confederation of Physical Therapy(WCPT) in 1974, and held the 2nd Asia Pacific Confederation of Physical Therapy assembly in 1984 and WCPT assembly in 2005. Today, in 2010, licensed physical therapists are about 35,000 and there are physical therapy departments in 74 universities, and 17 universities have master's or doctor's degree courses. And there are many academic journals(more than 10) related to physical therapy that are published. Many Korean physical therapists are working at various countries like America or Australia, and are acknowledged with excellent treatment technology and academic studies. This thesis aims to shed new light to the history and educational system reorganization of Korean physical therapy and introduce it to the world, and establish the historical foundation to develop Korean physical therapy into the international level.
