  • Hydroforming is the technology using hydraulic pressure and forming sheet or tube metals to desired shape in a die cavity. lt can be characterized as tube hydroforming and sheet hydroforming depending on the shape of used blank. Due to its prcess-related benefits, this production technology has been remarkably noticed for great potential for feasible applications and recently gained great attraction from many industrials including automotive and non-automotive. This Paper analyzed the tube and the welded blank hydroforming process and compared formability of the processes for automotive engine mount bracket. The mathematical analysis was performed by using the dynamic explicit finite element code, PAM-STAMP. In tube hydroforming, bending, springback, and forming analysis were carried out and the effect of mandrel and axial feeding were examined. In welded blank hydroforming, pressure curve history is determined and the results of forming analysis were evaluated by the comparison of experimental results in the aspects of deformed shape and thickness distribution.

  • Ram pressure stripping of early-type galaxies has been largely neglected until now because of their gas poor nature. MUSE IFU observation vividly reveal the presence of star-forming blobs and ionised gas tails, around an early-type galaxy in Abell 2670. The galaxy was identified as a post-merger galaxy with disturbed faint features, in MOSAIC 2 deep optical images. The imaging also revealed a series of star-forming blobs, situated in the direction facing away from the cluster centre. Thanks to the revolutionary wide field-of-view of the MUSE, combined with 8.2-m VLT (UT-4) at Cerro Paranal, we could simultaneously obtain IFU spectra of the blobs, as well as the galaxy. The MUSE spectra clearly confirms that the star-forming blobs are associated with the early-type galaxy. Moreover, MUSE reveals long ionised-gas tails, emanating from the galaxy. The quantity of gas indicates a gas rich progenitor has merged with the early-type galaxy. However the direction of the tails and blobs, and the blob morphology, appears to indicate that strong ram-pressure stripping may have stripped out gas brought in by the merger. We will present kinematic structure of the whole system (the galaxy, star-forming blobs, and gas tails), as well as the star formation history of the system, supporting a scenario where a recent galaxy merger is subjected to cluster environmental mechanisms.

  • The study has been performed for the relation between die and product in closed die upsetting by the experiment. the strain of die has been given by the simple experiment using the strain gauge located at the outer surface of die and the deformation history of die and product has been given by the experiment and Lame's formula. the product with accurate dimension and shape can be obtained by analysing elastic deformation of die during upsetting process. The deformation of die during metal forming process has been given by the experiment and lame's formula. The product with accurate dimension and shape can be obtained by analysing elastic deformation of die during upsetting process. The deformation of die during metal forming process has been usually predicted by the experience of industrial engineers of finite element analysis. But it is difficult to predict the dimension of product at unloading and ejected states. The study has given useful result for the deformation history of die and product through the experiment and Lame's formula at closed die upsetting and can be applied in the die design for product with accurate dimension.

  • In this paper, the influence of the stamping effect is investigated in the performance analysis of a side structure. The analysis covers the performance evaluation such as the crashworthiness and NVH. Stamping analyses are carried out for the center pillar and the side sill made of high strength steels. Then, numerical simulations are carried out in order to identify the stamping effect on the crashworthiness, the natural frequency and the normal mode. The result shows that the analysis of the side structure considering the forming history leads to a different result from that without considering the forming effect. The variation of the system response fully reveals effects of thinning and hardening of members on the performance prediction of vehicle parts. The analysis results demonstrate that the design of auto-body members should be carried out considering the stamping history for accurate assessment of various performances.

Strains of the die have been given by the simple experiment using the strain gauge located at the outer surface of the die and the history of the deformation of the die and product is given by the experiment and Lame's formula. • The morhology and life history of Stylonema cornu-cervi Reinsch from Japan were investigated. The species had multiseriate erect thalli from a basal cell. The thalli usually branched dichotomously, occasionally trichotomously near the base, and non-branched thalli were sometimes observed. A dichotomous branch on the upper portion near the base occurred only one time on each erect branch. Cells contained a stellate chloroplast, which was composed of a central rounded part with an obscure pyrenoid and 5-8 cup-like lobes connected to the central part by a small thin stipe. The biseriate part was observed on the six-celled stage in culture, and the grown thalli were multiseriate except for base and apices. Monospores forming from the immediate transformation of vegetative cells were observed. Thalli grew at 15-25$^{\circ}C$ and died at 10 and 30$^{\circ}C$. The fastest growth and maturation were observed under 25$^{\circ}C$ and 14L:10D. Although S. alsidii (Zanardini) Drew usually had uniseriate thalli, irregularly branched multiseriate thalli had been reported in cultures. It is possible that in the previous report the thalli were confused with S. cornu-cervi. In this report, S. cornu-cervi were distinguished from S. alsidii in that the branches were few, the multiseriate portions were observed on the early stage (six-celled stage), and the grown thalli were multiseriate except at the base and apices.

  • This paper introduces a new approach to take account of bending history in finite element inverse analysis during sheet metal forming process. A modified membrane element was adopted for finite element inverse analysis so that bending-unbending energy was additionally imposed in the total plastic energy, predicting bending-unbending regions using the geometry of the final shape and tools. An algorithm was applied to a cylindrical cup deep drawing process. The blank shape and the distribution of the thickness strain were compared with those obtained from the incremental finite element analysis in order to evaluate the effect of the bending history. The algorithm reduced the difference between the results of the inverse analysis from those of the incremental analysis due to bending history. The analysis was also carried out with the variation of the thickness of the initial blank to investigate the effect of bending deformation. The results showed that the difference was remarkably reduced as the thickness of the initial blank increased. This indicates that the finite element inverse analysis cooperated with the suggested scheme is useful to obtain more accurate results, especially when bending effects are significant.
