The Levels of the Teaching of Mathematical Reasoning on the Viewpoint of Mathematical Forms and Objects (수학의 형식과 대상에 따른 수학적 추론 지도 수준)

  • The study tries to differentiate the levels of mathematical reasoning from inductive reasoning to formal reasoning for teaching gradually. Because the formal point of view without the relation to objects has limitations in the creation of a new knowledge, our mathematics education needs consider the such characteristics. We propose an intuitive level of proof related in concrete operations and perceptual experiences as an intermediating step between inductive and formal reasoning. The key activity of the intuitive level is having insight on the generality of reasoning. The details of the process should pursuit the direction for going away from objects and near to formal reasoning. We need teach the mathematical reasoning gradually according to the appropriate level of reasoning more differentiated.

The Current Status and Acceptance of Traditional Medicine of East Asia in the UK

  • Objectives : Traditional medicine(TM) of East Asia has been taking its status as part of complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) in the UK. However, the efficacy and safety issues make it hard to be accepted in the healthcare system. The aim of the research is to find out the current status of TM of East Asia in the UK and to discuss some issues around its acceptance as formal healthcare method. Methods : Articles, books and regulations related to the acceptance of TM of East Asia were analysed and the internet websites were visited such as Westlaw UK for legal materials, government websites for formal documents, and some UK-based associations. Keyword searches were followed and the essential parts from the articles and documents were generalised for the analysis and discussion. Results : Issues over TM of East Asia include identity as medicine, efficacy and safety, and the statutory regulation can be a measure for the acceptance. Osteopathy and chiropractic therapies came under statutory regulation among the CAM in the UK. Conclusions : TM of East Asia could be under the statutory regulation in the near future. Efficacy and safety issues are the challenging barrier. However, the approach from the viewpoint of TM of East Asia is necessary for development and good practice. The simplified registration procedure for traditional herbal medicinal product in EU can be the model. Education, evaluation, assessment and managing quality of practice are essential for the standard care and formal regulation.

  • Mathematics education is accomplished by systems such as mathematical curriculum and tools such as a textbook which reflects such systems. Human beings make such systems and tools. Therefore, a viewpoint of mathematics of those who make them is an important factor. The view point of mathematics is formed during doing and learning mathematics, but the already formed viewpoint of mathematics affects doing and teaching mathematics. Hence, it will be a factor which affects basically that those who employ themselves on mathematics education have a certain viewpoint of mathematics. This article presents dialectical materialistic viewpoint as the viewpoint of mathematics which affects fundamentally on mathematical teaching-learning practice. The dialectical materialism is carried through the process and result of mathematics development. This shows that mathematical knowledge is objective. Mathematical knowledge has developed according to three basic rules of dialectical materialism i.e. the transformation of quantity into quality, the unification of antagonistic objects, and the negation of negation. This viewpoint of mathematics should offer the viewpoint of mathematics education which is different from the view point of absolutism, relativism or formal logic. In this article I considered mathematics separating standpoint of mathematics into materialistic viewpoint and dialectical viewpoint. 1 did so for the convenience of analysis, but you will be able to look at the unified viewpoint of dialectical materialism. 1 will make mention of teaching-learning method on another occasion.

  • This study analyze the architectural space in the aspect of the 'Raumplan' and 'Plan Libre'. These concepts based on the 'Raumplan versus Plan Libre' exhibition in Delft University, Netherlands. It is generally agreed that the concept of 'Plan Libre' in connection with Le Corbusie architecture and 'Raumplan' related to Adolf Loos's works. that exhibition contents was focused an extent of modem architecture. But, These concepts continually influence contemporary architecture and offer diverse vision in architecture. Therefore, this study focused on the analysis that look for common element in the space through the case study and space element connection in change of the values, technical growth. This Paper reveals that Adolf Loos's Raumplan is similar to Louis I. Kahn's 'Room' concept and Ando Tadao's centrifugal space composition method In the dwelling architecture. And the concept 'Plan Libre': non-definitive formal system and the elements : column, free form screening wall is revived as formal application of 3 dimension composition in architecture. and transfer lots, void, and linear space in Rem Koolhaas's urban design projects. These aspects is so called topology. This topological concept is an attempt in view of the space connection state rather than formative viewpoint.

  • The suspense will be realized as various techniques influenced the perception of audience organically each other. These varied techniques induce isolation as well as a restricted space as formal system. Moreover, it could intensify emotional experience of audience that they will not escape in addition to the depth.. This study chose a movie (2010) and <127 hours> (2010) which used the limited space as the material as the analysis target to examine. It is the goal of this study to analyze the conversion of careful viewpoint and the flashback, and to raise the meaning of the suspense expression through this. The researcher would consider how the suspense is expressed based on the conversion of viewpoint and how the flashback delivers the psychology and emotion.

  • This research aims to study on educational methods of Nature-Study extracted through a wide body of literatures and meaning of Nature-Study toward today's science education. For this, viewpoints of Nature-Study were drown by previous historical study about Nature-Study. And educational methods of Nature-Study based on viewpoints of Nature-Study were abstracted by collecting and analyzing of literatures. Meaning of Nature-Study toward today's science education was considered. The research resulted in the following; First, Nature-Study emphasize the sympathy with nature, aim for integrated subject study and include non-formal study from a viewpoint of 'studying with nature'. Second, Nature-Study aim for outdoor activities, emphasize experiences than texts, value fundamental observation from a viewpoint of 'study through first-hand experiences'. Third, Nature-Study value interest of students, support the study for all students, emphasize the teachers' role as a helper from a viewpoint of 'learner-centered education'. Nature-Study is suggested to change view of point over to science education through nature toward today's science education.

  • This study examines that in what types and to what extent. scholarly information is communicated through formal and informal communication channels among Korean physicists and also analyzes the behavioral traits of researchers participating in communication process. Based on the results from the data analysis, several suggestions are given in the viewpoint of the libraries and information librarians.

On Directions for the Revision of Language Forms Listed in the 2007 Korean English Curriculum

  • This study highlights some very important future directions for the revision of language forms in the 2007 Korean English Curriculum, expected to be made public in the summer of 2011. A critical review of the 2007 National English Curriculum shows that language forms exemplified in that curriculum are not well-chosen or well-sequenced from the viewpoint of grammar selection and gradation, and that no mention of structural labels or grammatical terminologies makes it hard for teachers to recognize their formal properties. To fulfill the original purpose that languages should be listed in the curriculum so that functional-notional syllabuses can be complemented by form-focused instruction, the study presents partial inventories of grammatical items with well-chosen and well-sequenced examples. Minimal descriptions are given to these inventories that are based on general notions or well-known grammatical notions. Occasional suggestions are also made for which language forms should be taught in which schools.

  • In current complex nature of management with task-structures, a method to reach the enterprise's informationalization success is not common. To satisfy these various requirement, improving the usability of information technology (IT) is a key factor which defining the level of organizational requirement first. Imposing an IT-solution which has excess service of the organization's previous task-environment, procedure and scope is not effective to SME-level unit, which unit could not have a formal organization structure and task structure. SME level informationalization will be success if each function realizes easier on the task-employee's viewpoint. Achieving this objective, a solution provider or department must reflect their work characteristics of nature which has least level of work performing resistance. It is most useful system for SME level unit, if a provider develops single programs which based on task activities, and each program can configure network-linking.

  • The present paper deals with the ordering problem for how to teach mathematical concepts successfully. Main object is the concept of continuous functions which is fundamental in analysis and topology. At first, the theoretical organization of this concept is investigated through several texts in related field, calculus, analysis and topology. And next, the historical order for this concept from the viewpoint of problem-solving is considered. Based on these two materials, we suggest a lecturing organization order in order to establish a balanced unification of three concepts - intuitive, logical and formal concepts.
