Forecast and Demand Analysis of Oyster as Kimchi's Ingredients (김장굴의 수요 분석 및 예측)

  • This paper estimates demand functions of oyster as Kimchi's ingredients of capital area, other areas excluding a capital area, and a whole area in Korea to forecast its demand quantities in 2011~2015. To estimate oyster demand function, this paper uses pooled data produced from Korean housewives over 30 years old in 2009 and 2010. Also, this paper adopts several econometrics methods such as Ordinary Least Squares and Feasible Generalized Least Squares. First of all, to choose appropriate variables of oyster demand functions by area, this paper carries out model's specification with joint significance test. Secondly, to remedy heteroscedasticity with pooled data, this paper attempts residual plotting between estimated squared residuals and estimated dependent variable and then, if it happens, undertakes White test to care the problem. Thirdly, to test multicollinearity between variables with pooled data, this paper checks correlations between variables by area. In this analysis, oyster demand functions of a capital area and a whole area need price of the oyster, price of the cabbage for Gimjang, and income as independent variables. The function on other areas excluding a capital area only needs price of the oyster and income as ones. In addition, the oyster demand function of a whole area needed White test to care a heteroscedasticity problem and demand functions of the other two regions did not have the problem. Thus, first model was estimated by FGLS and second two models were carried out by OLS. The results suggest that oyster demand quantities per a household as Kimchi's ingredients are going to slightly increase in a capital area and a whole area, but slightly decrease in other areas excluding a capital area in 2011~2015. Also, the results show that oyster demand quantities as kimchi's ingredients for total household targeting housewives over 30 years old are going to slightly increase in three areas in 2011~2015.

  • Forecasting long-term mobile service demand is inevitable to establish an effective frequency management policy despite the lack of reliability of forecast results. The statistical forecasting method has limitations in analyzing how the forecasting result changes when the scenario for various drivers such as consumer usage pattern or market structure for mobile communication service is changed. In this study, we propose a dynamic model of the mobile communication service market using system dynamics technique and forecast the future demand for long-term mobile communication subscriber based on the dynamic model, and also experiment on the change pattern of subscriber demand under various scenarios.

  • In this paper, the effects of the uncertain hourly load demand are stochastically analyzed especially by the consideration of the average over generation of the Unit Commitment(UC) results. In order to minimize the effects of the actual load profile change, a new UC algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm calculates the UC results with the lower load level than the one generated by the conventional load forecast. In case of the worse load forecast, the deviation of the conventional UC solution can be overcome with the lower load level and the more hourly reserve requirements. The proposed method is tested with sample systems, which shows that the proposed method can be used as the basic guideline for selecting the potimal load forecast applying to UC problem.

Studies on the Forecasting of Demand for Natural Recreation Forest (자연휴양림의 수요예측에 관한 연구)

  • Meeting the rapidly increasing demand for natural outdoor recreation, Korea Forestry Administration established 26 places of $\ulcorner$Natural Recreation Forest$\lrcorner$ zones. By 2000 year, 100 zones were planned to cover the entire country. But there was no accurate information about demand of $\ulcorner$Natural Recreation Forest$\lrcorner$. Therefore, this study was carried out to forecast the quantitive demand of $\ulcorner$Natural Recreation Forest$\lrcorner$. To forecast the 'demand of 2001 year, forecasting unit was determined to $\ulcorner$Visitor. Day$\lrcorner$, and three quantifing methods were applied. The results of demand by each forecating method were as follows: 1) Questionnaire survey method for willingness to participate was 16,651,000(visitor. day). 2) application of similiar situation threshold method was 14,540,000(visitor. day). 3) Demand partition method by secondary data was 10,775,000(visitor, day). Comprised of these results. The scope estimate of $\ulcorner$Natural Recreation Forest$\lrcorner$ demand was proposed as 8,110,000(Minimum) - 27,088,000(Miximum). The point estimate of demand which were proposed as strategic guidelines was 16,651,000(visitor. day). These results implied that recently announced 111 predetermined $\ulcorner$Natural Recreation Forest$\lrcorner$ zones supposed to be overcrowded meeting the forcasted demand level of 2001 year.

  • District heating system supplies heat from low-cost high-efficiency heat production facilities to heat demand areas through a heat pipe network. For efficient heat supply system operation, it is important to accurately predict the heat demand within the region and optimize the heat production plan accordingly. In this study, a heat demand forecasting model is proposed considering real-time calorimeter information from local heat demands. Previous models considered ambient temperature and heat demand history data to predict future heat demands. To improve forecast accuracy, the proposed heat demand forecast model added big data from real-time calorimeters installed in the heat demands within the target region. By employing calorimeter information directly in the model, it is expected that the proposed forecast model is to reflect heat use pattern of each demand. Computational experiemtns based on the actual heat demand data shows that the forecast accuracy of the proposed model improved when the calorimeter big data is reflected.

Accuracy Improvement in Demand Forecast of District Heating by Accounting for Heat Sales Information (열판매 정보를 고려한 지역난방 수요 예측의 정확도 향상)

  • In this study, to improve the accuracy of forecast of heat demand in the district heating system, this study applied heat demand performance among the main factors of district heating demand forecast in Pankyo area as the heat sales information of the user facility instead of existing heat source facility heat supply information, and compared the existing method with the accuracy based on the actual value. As a result of comparing the difference of the forecasts values of the existing and changed methods based on the performance values over the one week (2018.01.08 ~ 01.14) during the hot water peak, the relative error decreased from 7% to 3% The relative error between the existing and revised forecasts was 9% and 4%, respectively, for the five-month cumulative heat demand from February to February 2018, Also, in case of the weekend where the demand of heat is differentiated, the relative error of the forecasts value is consistently reduced from 10% to 5%.

  • This paper presents a forecasting method for domestic demand of electric home appliances. Because of lack of data, some popular methods such as time series analysis may not be appropriate to forecast such a demand domestically. We suggest a systematic and practical method by considering structural parameters and variables which determine the actual demand. We use this model to forecast the demand of color TV. Since the parameters in our model may be variant according to the change of economic environment, our model leads the user to develop a dynamic model to be used in the well-known System Dynamics Approach.

  • Railway passenger demand forecasts may be used directly, or as inputs to other optimization models use them to produce estimates of other activities. The optimization models require demand forecasts at the most detailed level. In this environment exponential smoothing forecasting methods such as Holt-Winters are appropriate because it is simple and inexpensive in terms of computation. There are several initialization methods for Holt-Winters Model. The purpose of this paper is to compare the initialization methods for Holt-Winters model.

  • In the early 90s, we had serious shortage of construction engineers for the expansion of construction market. So, Government has established the admitted engineer system in 1995. However, since year 2000, while the engineershortage has been resolved, the opposite situation has occurred: serious over-supply of construction engineers. Therefore, Government announced that would abolish the admitted engineer systems as recognized the existent admitted engineers from 2007. From this point of view, it is critical to make the accurate forecast of number of required construction engineers for providing the basis for the most appropriate policy from 2008 to 2017. This research have developed a construction engineer supply-demand forecast model based on the GDP and construction market analysis. The results of this research will be applied to the basic data that policy planner establishes the supply-demand policy of construction engineers.
