This paper presents an automatic focal length estimation method to correct the fisheye lens distortion in a spatially adaptive manner. The proposed method estimates the focal length of the fisheye lens by generating two reference focal lengths. The distorted fisheye lens image is finally corrected using the orthographic projection model. The experimental results showed that the proposed focal length estimation method is more accurate than existing methods in terms of the loss rate.
A simple method to determine the focal length of a lens using the Talbot image is presented. This method uses only one grating, requiring neither Moir$\acute{e}$ fringe analysis nor the angle between the gratings. The original Fourier transform was used to access the spectrum beyond the limitation set of the usual fast Fourier transform to determine the (de)magnification accurately enough to be used for the focal length. A set of Talbot images simulated numerically with the Fresnel diffraction integral was used to demonstrate the method. For focal lengths between 5550 mm and 5650 mm, the mean difference between the focal lengths determined from the Talbot images and the true values was 3.3 mm with the standard deviation of the difference being 3.8 mm. The true focal lengths can be recovered with an accuracy of 0.06%.
An off-axis system refers to an optical system in which the optical axis and normal vector at the vertex of each surface do not match. The most important specification in an optical system is its focal length. Among the various methods for measuring the focal length, the most suitable method for the off-axis system is the method that adopts magnification. However, head-mounted display (HMD) optics must be measured while considering the virtual image distance, which is not infinity owing to product characteristics. For the virtual image distance, a camera with a focusing function was used. By measuring HMD optics via this magnification method, the error generated in this measurement was 0.68% of the HMD's focal length, which is within the 1%-3% range of the conventionally permitted design error for the focal length allowed at the optical design stage. Therefore, it can be verified that the measurement accuracy of the method proposed in this study is sufficiently feasible in practice.
The positions, attitudes, and internal orientation parameters of three line scanners are critical factors in order to acquire the accurate location of objects on the ground. Based on the assumption that positions and attitudes of the sensors are derived either from direct geo-referencing which of using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), or from indirect geo-referencing which of using Ground Control Points (GCPs), this paper describes on biased effects of Internal Orientation Parameter (IOP) on the ground. The research concentrated on geometrical explanations of effects from different focal length biases on the ground. The Synthetic data was collected by reasonable flight trajectories and attitudes of three line scanners. The result of experiments demonstrated that the focal length bias in case of indirect geo-referencing does not have critical influences on the quality of reconstructed ground space. Also, the relationships between IO parameters and EO parameters were found by the correlation analysis. In fact, the focal length bias in case of the direct geo-referencing caused significant errors on coordinates of reconstructed objects. The RMSE values along the vertical direction and the amount of focal length bias turned out to be almost perfect linear relationship.
In this paper, a computer automated system has been developed for measuring the focal length of camera lens using the MTF(Modurar Transfer Function) based on the signal processing around a line CCD and autocollimator. An optical Path for the focal length measurement system has been designed around thelight sourec, collimator, camera, mirror and the line CCD. The eyepiece of the collimator is replaced byline CCD, and the mirror is moved along the focal axis by a PC driven step motor. An efficient method has been designed for finding the optimum MTF value for the focal length based on the least squares approach. The developed system is fullycomputer automated: signal transmission to and from the camera, MTF evaluation based on the line CCD, step motor contorl, etc. The developed system has been applied to a practical camera manufacturing process and demonstrated its performance
Condenser lens and objective lens are used to demagnify the image of the crossover to the final spot size. In lens, electrons are focused by magnetic fields. This fields is fringing field. It is important in electron focusing. Electron focusing occurs the radial component field and axial component field. Radial component produces rotational force and axial component produces radial force. Radial force causes the electron's trajectory to curve toward the optic axis and corss it. Focal length decreases as the current of lens increases. In this paper, we use the focal length for desiging the hardware of lens current control and present the results.
