The three types of surfactants such as nonylphenoxy poly(ethylene) ethanol homologues, caster oil poly(ethylene) ethanol homologues, and sodium perfluoroalkyl carboxylates are used to improve the wettability of rubber impression material. Among the surfactants, the usage of sodium perfluoroalkyl carboxylates containing fluoro group resulted in the lowest surface energy of impression material and the result gave the positive effect on the wettability of rubber impression material to teeth. Also, the anti-foaming agents were used to reduce or remove the hydrogen gas generating on the impression material by reaction. In the case of rubber impression material containing sodium perfluoroalkyl carboxylate as a surfactant, it was found that the tear strength of rubber impression material increased over 3 N/mm with the addition of anti-forming agent. Therefore, the anti-foaming agent could contribute to the mechanical property of rubber impression material without the change of surface property.

This was done by analyzing the sandwich panels that are now widely used in construction work. Sandwich panels are used for diverse purposes in construction work worldwide. In Korea, polystyrene panels that have organic materials as their core material are used. These panels are thus very vulnerable to fire, with risks of core melting, sheet deformation, and hazardous gases. Accordingly, sandwich panels' fire-resistant or non-flammable properties must be secured. To solve these problems, the optimal mixing proportion of lightweight foamed concrete for the sandwich panel core was determined. A new method of doing this was introduced that is completely different from the existing method, wherein a foaming agent is added to realize lightweight concrete. For lightweight concrete, the foaming mechanisms via diverse chemical reactions were identified, H$_2$O$_2$ was added for heating in the reaction, and the concrete foaming was maximized. Through diverse experiments to determine the optimal mixing proportion of lightweight foamed concrete and to examine the filling characteristic of lightweight foamed concrete for sandwich panel cores using waste materials, the physical and mechanical properties of lightweight foamed concrete were examined.

This study was carried out in order to investigate the change of protein functionalities such as foaming and emulsifying properties by succinylation of protein isolates. Succinylated and unsuccinylated munghean protein isolates were tested for finding out the effects of pH, heat treatment and sodium chloride concentration on the solubility, emulsion capacity, emulsion stability, foaming capacity, and foam stability. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Succinylation enhanced the solubility of MPI except at pH 4.5. When heated, succinylation greatly increased the solubility of succinylated MPI above $60^{\circ}C$. With the addition of NaCl, succinylation increased the solubility of MPI at acidic condition. 2. Emulsion capacity of succinylated MPI showed the lowest value at pH 7 and higher values at acidic and alkaine condition. when succinylated MPI was heated, emulsion capacity showed the highest at $80^{\circ}C$. With NaCl was added, emulsion capacity of succinylated MPI lincreased at pH 7, 9 or 11 decreased at pH 3 except addition of 1.0M NaCl. 3. Emulsion stability of MPI and succinylated MPI showed the highest at pH 4.5. Succinylation enhanced the emulsion stability of MPI at acidic condition. 4. The foaming capacity of MPI was increased at pH 3, 7 or 9 by succinylation. 5. When heated, foam stability of MPI and succinylated MPI showed the highest at pH 4.5 and at pH 11, respectively. When heated, both proteins showed the highest stability at $100^{\circ}C$.
The flame retardancy and foaming properties of NBR foams containing waste ground tire rubber (GTR) were studied. When the composition ratios of NBR/GTR were ranged in $100/0{\sim}80/20$ (w/w) and rubbers/flame retardants were in the range of $1/1.95{\sim}3.70 wt%$, the considerably optimized foam for flame retardancy was obtained with high limiting oxygen indices (LOI, $29.4{\sim}40.0$), low heat release rate(HRR), closed/semi-closed cell of uniformity, and reasonable expandability ($215{\sim}300 %$). The LOI was increased and the heat release rate was decreased with increasing the amount of GTR content.
Anionic surfactants were synthesized by using an sarcosine, taurine and fatty alcohol with varying the carbon chain length. The structure of synthesized surfactants was confirmed by $^1H$ NMR analysis. The critical micelle concentration of the synthetic anionic surfactant was $10^{-2}{\sim}10^{-4}mol/L$ and the surface tension value at the critical micelle concentration was between 21 and 39 mN/m. It was confirmed by the Ross-Miles method that the synthetic surfactant with the carbon chain of 12 showed a good foaming power and stability. In addition, the surfactant using the sacosine was found to have a good affinity in soybean oil while that using taurine in benzene. The physical properties of synthesized surfactants were determined by measuring the critical micelle concentration, foaming power and emulsifying stability.
Underground cavities could induce road subsidence, which have been frequently observed in urban areas. Therefore, adequate backfilling materials and the restoring methods of the cavities are required to prevent the road subsidence. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the suitability of backfilling methods using foaming lightweight grouting materials considering the flow values, unit weights, and air contents at slurry and expanded states, and unconfined compressive strengths. The grouting materials consist of water, cement, and foaming agent whose proportions of water, cement, and foaming agent are 25: 25: 1.0 and 25: 25: 1.2. The flow values of the two materials are greater than 200 mm, and their unconfined compressive strengths at 28 days age are smaller than 1.3 MPa. From the results, the two proportions of materials are expected to be effectively used as a backfilling material. However, the material components should be carefully mixed because poor mix of these materials could induce non-homogeneous distribution of air bubbles. The unexpectedly non-homogeneous distribution of air bubbles may induce significant cracks or additional cavities.

Concrete is a representative heterogeneous material and mechanical properties of concrete are influenced by various factors. Due to the fact that pores in concrete affect determining compressive strength of concrete, studies which deal with distribution and magnitudes of pores are very important. That way, studies using picture imaging have been emerged. Studies on mechanical performance evaluation of structural lightweight foamed concrete and FEM analysis based on picture image are inadequate because lightweight foamed concrete has been researched for only non-structural. Therefore, in this study, cement paste with foaming agent to evaluate mechanical performance is made, FEM analysis with picture image is conducted and young's modulus of experiment and analysis are compared. In this study, dosage of foaming agent is determined 7 level to check pore distribution and water-binder ratio is determined 20% to progress research about structural light weight foamed concrete. Weight of unit volume is minimum at 0.8% of foaming agent dosage. However, weight of unit volume is increased over 0.8% of foaming agent dosage because of interconnection with independent pores. For FEM analysis, cement paste is photographed to use image analyzer(HF-MA C01). Consequently, the fact that Young's Modulus of experiment and FEM analysis are same is drawn by using OOF(Object Oriented Finite elements).
